  • This large and long folding dagger with cross bar lock only as opening and closing method has historical roots in the old West, made as a production version of Ken Onion's "Deadman's Hand" folder and named after Wild Bill Hickok's aces-and-eights hand at the time of his death. Made in the U.S.A. by Hogue Knives, and exquisitely crafted!

Hey OG - EXCELLENT REVIEW! I just picked up the CRKT Redemption today. I also don't purchase many CRKT knives. For me, I try to avoid knives "Made in China" as much as possible (even WE, Civivi, etc.); however, since this one is "Made in the USA" in a Hogue collaboration, I decided to get the Redemption. I'm happy to see CRKT releasing this knife in premium materials (Magnacut with the G10) and with excellent fit/finish - it's really is a beautiful and cool knife! Thank you for pointing out the change in the bolster milling (the original had the subtle milling of lines that were running parallel to the blade on the bolster). Even though I bought it from a retailer with a good reputation, I was WORRIED IT WAS A 'COPY' from China because of the difference in the bolster. I've been searching online everywhere (including CRKT website, Blade Forums, etc.) to see if this change is "normal"/legitimate. Your review was the ONLY place I found anyone talking about this difference in the bolster, so I appreciate it and I feel more reassured my knife is authentic! I have subscribed to your channel!😎👍

I like Nick Shabazz's take on the "cricket" thing.
Most of CRKTs stuff deserves the cricket name, but every once in a while they do things like this that are CRKT.

I used to always think these kind of knives need a guard, but James has shown us you don't. Also, I think the two ridges above the G10 are for putting your thumb there. You can see a place for the thumb around that spot on other daggers like the Pentagon FX or the CRKT Russell Sting.

That's a good point, as it could be for indexing the fingers in finding position on the handle. Yes guards on knives are overrated, but certainly it does depend upon the background of the user. Kudos to James! 👍🗡️👊

@@OGBladeReviews Watch "A.G. Russell Sting 3b by CRKT - History and Overview" around 2:20, if you want to know why that spot is there on many daggers.
