En los años 50 yo vivía muy cerca de la Sagrada Familia, cuando el templo sólo constaba de las cuatro torres que enmarcan la fachada septentrional y nada más. Abierta a los cuatro vientos, prácticamente abandonada, y sin ninguna vigilancia, los crios del barrio la hacíamos nuestra y subíamos a las torres por las escaleras de caracol, pasando de una a otra sin que nadie nos dijera absolutament nada. Era un maravilloso lugar para nuestros juegos, lleno de lugares ocultos y recovecos. Recuerdo que esparcidas por el suelo había una gran cantidad de piedras esculpidas dejadas ahí por los artesanos que las habían trabajado hasta el último dia de su labor. Este estado de cosas era debido a la falta de recursos de los años de la posguerra civil - años 40 - y del desinterés del Régimen de Franco por una obra debida al genio y a la perseverancia de Antoni Gaudí, un arquitecto y hombre de fe, de profundasconvicciones catalanistas.
Todo eso cambió a partir de la década de los años 60 cuando empezaron a llegar turistas a Cataluña y a Barcelona y los poderes públicos se dieron cuenta del potencial negocio que se abría ante ellos. Y ha sido la explotació turística del monumento la que ha permitido a lo largo de los últimos 60 años que el templo haya podido ser construido hasta alcanzar su estado actual. Así que, auténticamente gaudiniano sólo lo son las cuatro torres y la fachada que mencionaba al principio, más el edificio de la escuela que se encuentro junto a la calle de Provença.

A unique cathedral in the world. When I got out of the subway, and I found it in front of me I did not imagine it was so impressive. His enormous greatness. A magnificent masterpiece in every detail. I believe Gaudí was one of the greatest architects in the world. I recommend everyone to go and see this wonderful and unique cathedral where you can see magnificent sculptures everywhere. Gaudi was a very humble man. He is not responsable of this aberration. If you want to see exquisite sculptures, travel to Chartres. if you want to see a masterpiece , travel to Sainte Chapelle in Paris. If you want to see real ,honest touching beauty, travel to Leon.. The question i ask myself is this: what inspired such magnificense, beauty and effort?
And then i ask myself: How can atheists say that what inspiried all this is simply illusory and not real?
I would suggest that only what is most real and true could inspire such human excellence.
God is real.
Our ancestors canalized a ton of great things into religion. Their intentions, their hopes and prayers are real, but that doesn't directly implies that gods are real beyond ourselves.
I see gods like maths, science and arts. Just like a thought, all these things that we created exists as long as we do. They're not real but are real at the same time.

We saw this in Sept and THAT church HAS to be the most AMAZING THING I've ever seen. Just to stand there and look at it... it made me weep with it's beauty. If you have never been there... we highly recommend putting it on your bucket list!! You won't be sorry!!!

What a building! It really could be anything...a Christian cathedral/church, a masque, and Hindu Temple, Mormon temple, Buddhist temple or Synagogue...anything. Please don't get me wrong, and please don' get offended. I am afraid of entering of building that full of statues and men-made pictures. Two months ago we visited 4 European contries, we entered 4 big Chatedral , one in each of the country. Many people of different background came in just taking photos/videos for private documentation purpose. The churhes were treated as part of tourist attractions. I think they must be protected as a holy place. People just walked in to the churches with shoes or sandals. Who can guarantee the cleanlines of their shoes. What if the shoes is outside the chuches like entering Masjid.

The funny thing is that when you see the fineshed model of La Sagrada Familia it's only then that you realise how unfinished it currently is. Otherwise it just looks lime any other cathedral with a crane or two or a bit of scafolding on its wall for the purpose of restoring and maintainining it. It's like York Minster or Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. Okay so Sagrada Familia is a few grades up on most other Cathedrals.
