Fantastic, you can’t beat a 3 door and not too shabby. Nothing that can’t be fixed with a big hammer. 👍

A 300 TDI of this vintage would be around 5000 euros in Portugal.
Prices are bloody ridiculous but at least they are not rotten.
My first disco was a 200 TDI which I had in Ireland and the sills were rotten.
Second one was purchased in Portugal, same vintage but no rust whatsoever on chassis and sills.
Those UK salty roads certainly take their toll.
Should be a good work horse once you've done your magic on it.

You might well have done something bold, and also be a nutter, but then we all are when it comes to Range Rovers, Discovery's etc. !! - but looks like a great project , enjoyed it so far , at least you knew what you were getting into - look forward to see how you get on - but that lift - why !!! - glad its going back to stock 😀

Brilliant love an old TDI discovery. No sun roof, no roof bars it should be 'fairly' dry in there.

Excellent choice, Richard.... I had a 1995 3 door poverty spec 300 TDI (ooh, just done the maths, 17 years ago), and was a great car ..... mine didn't have roof bars either, but frankly, the less holes, the better! Looks forward to seeing the progress on this one.

Spot on Richard. I had a 1998 3 door 300 tdi van (sans sunroof) as a works vehicle back in 2004 and loved it. I have also done something silly and recently purchased a Reliant Scimitar SE6a....

The old discovery is far better to work on Richard has a lot less electronic crap on it for a start get the rust and mechanical work done and it will rumble on for years, also remember to drill holes in swimming pool bulkhead .

at least I can see the swimming pool on a disco1, I am going to float a yellow plastic duck in it

I'll guess the early Discovery rust in the same places as the RR.

more or less, disco 2 rusts in places that the Range Rover classic doesnt

Good one! I had a 1996 D1 300tdi with R380 and it was mechanically one of the most reliable vehicles I've ever owned. Sadly the body succumbed to rust and I got tired of it raining indoors and sold it while I still could. The chassis was solid and I always had notions of finding an RRC body to swap onto it.

I almost* thought about lifting the disco1 body onto the ghost train 1976 RR chassis

Comment to help you get you algae rhythms. Looks like your new toy has a giant fishnet bra hanging from the roof, love to see the puppies that fill it. Glad to see you are playing with a MGB. Please tell me where did you get your Rose Coloured Glasses they are amazing :)

It looks like it's got a veneerial disease. I loved both my 300 tdi's. I put RR classic seats in both but they were more doors. Not sure if the will fit 2 door but they are much better seats than the disco's.

    Hi Richard
Just cut off inner and outer seal and
replace them, if your the suspension
Then do the job right, do it and then have years off trouble motoring ,
    Dont forget the waxoil.
