Sadly, this is the last episode of my trip to all my favourite places around the Scottish Highlands - but don't depair! :-) I've got lots more great places coming up soon, including one of Scotland's finest stately homes, where I got married, and a guide to loch-style fly-fishing in the Scottish Highlands, plus a mini-guide to the lovely Border towns of Peebles and Melrose. Thanks to everyone who's subscribed and all the lovely comments. I hope you've enjoyed this series and that it's inspired you to visit the country I'm so lucky to call home. If you have any questions about visiting Scotland just let me know below, or visit my new website: www.adventuresinscotland.uk/
I just wanted to thank you. My husband and I have dreamed of moving to Scotland from the US for a few years now and have watched UA-cam videos for inspiration. We discovered your videos a few weeks ago and they really pulled us through a lot of dark times. We've moved mountains to move internationally during a pandemic, but to summarise, our last day of quarantine is tomorrow. We look forward to booking a guided tour with you, and we thank you immensely for sharing your love of this beautiful country--our new home--with the rest of the world.
@@asmarrahbedford4290 Hi Asmarrah, that's wonderful that you're coming to live here in Scotland. It really is a wonderful country and I'm sure you'll thoroughly enjoy living here. Always happy to show you around Edinburgh. I'm just finalising the new tour to make sure it's Covid safe and should have the booking system up and running soon. Hope you have a safe journey over and enjoy the new Scottish adventure. Thanks for getting in touch. Best wishes, David :-)
Thank you Anne, I’m so glad you enjoyed the video. This is such a beautiful part of Scotland and I’m really looking forward to going back soon and doing a little more filming. Thanks so much for watching, it’s much appreciated, all the best, David 🙂
Thanks Anne, I will certainly try. I’m a bit behind with my videos as I fit them around work and family, but I hope to have a few more out very soon. Thanks so much for all your kindness and support, and for watching. Have a lovely weekend, all the best, David
Thanks Anne, this is a wonderful part of Scotland and I’ve enjoyed some wonderful times here. Really hope to go back next year and do some more exploring & fishing. I used to get up there a lot when I was younger and fitter and need to make firm plans. So glad you found it uplifting, it makes all the filming worthwhile. Thanks again, David 🙂
David, Another beautiful informative video, so much amazing beauty to see; just lovely, thanks for the journey; cant wait for more, anything from Scotland. stay well.
Hi Anna, hope you're well and thanks for the kind words about the video. I'm really glad you liked it. Lots more coming soon. Hope to have a new one up by the end of the week which I hope you'll enjoy too. Best wishes, David :-)
Thoroughly enjoyed your video, we have visited the gorge, the bridge is definitely a test of the nerves as is the viewing platform, great place to visit. We have also visited Chanonry Point to see the dolphins on many occasions, such beautiful creatures. I have really enjoyed your videos particularly this group, and look forward to more...stay safe...👍
Hi Martyn, I'm so glad you've enjoyed this series of videos. It took a bit of effort to squeeze them in around work, but I've come away with some fantastic memories and can't wait to go back and do it all again. Will be heading up to Sutherland on Sunday for one last time this year to do a bit of fishing and hopefully, weather permitting, do a bit of filming too. Thanks for all your support and stay well - should have a new video up by the end of the week. All the best, David
Thank you very much David, that’s really kind of you and much appreciated. It’s a wonderful part of the country and I’m hoping to return in the Spring with better health. Thanks for watching, all the best, David 🙂
@@DavidWheaterScotland We will be stopping at Oban and Ullapool for two days during a cruise my wife and I are taking at the end of May - early June 2023. While we will not have the time to explore extensively, your videos have given me some idea of what we may see during that time.
Hope you have a wonderful cruise. Oban and Ullapool are lovely seaside towns. If you like seafood they both offer some of the best in Scotland. Best wishes, David
Hi David have just come across your videos as I am in process of planning a major trip to the Highlands. I have family living in Aberfeldy so will be using as a base to explore. Many thanks for the all the amazing videos take care stay safe.
Hi David, thanks ever so much for your lovely comment. I always really appreciate when people get in touch, as it's been a very strange year with not being able to do any guiding or teaching work. I hope you have an amazing time when you visit and my videos give you a few ideas where to visit. It's really worthwhile spending as much time as you can exploring, although it's a small country, there's an enormous amount to explore. There are so many places on my list to visit and hopefully next year I can start visiting as many as possible. Thanks again, warmest best wishes, David :-)
Wonderful as always David. Without doubt you have inspired me to visit more, no explore more. I mentioned before, that I visit once or twice a year but I’m stuck in my Edinburgh bubble. I shall definitely be venturing further afield in the near future. All of my Scottish friends call it ‘God’s own country’. Your videos certainly back that up.
Thanks Gary, I'm so glad they've inspired you to explore more of Scotland. When the pandemic is over, I hope to be able to show a few more of my favourite places. I've been lucky to travel all over the world and I still think Scotland is the most beautiful. Take care, David :-)
Another beautiful episode. What a wonderful way to end the video with the dolphins....and the still photo of the dolphin smiling as he jumps out of the water - Made me smile, made my day 😊🐬 Wonderful series!!
Thanks Inga - I thought he was smiling too! Sadly I only had half n' hour at Chanonry Point, so I didn't get the footage I really wanted, but he definitely made up for it. One day I'll go back and spend a bit longer. It was such a joy to see them and I thoroughly recommend it as a 'must see' in Scotland. Thanks for your kind words about the series. I really appreciate your support. I have some more lovely places in Scotland coming soon which I'll be sharing during September. Hope you have a great weekend, David :-)
G'day David really enjoyed watching the Scottish Islands and look forward to what comes up next. What you have also done is opened my ears to some really great music. Have found a lot of them on Spotify and created my own playlist. Keep up the great work. Regards Phil
Thanks Philby, I'm so pleased you like the music. I get a lot of stick for it, so it's lovely to get a positive comment. Creators and musicians are suffering so much just now with the pandemic it's really nice to include their music and give them a shout out. I pay for & licence all the music I use, which is extremely important just now. I should have a new video out this weekend on one of Scotland's finest stately homes which I hope you'll enjoy. I'm off up north on Sunday to make a video all about fly fishing on some of my favourite lochs which I can't wait for. Thanks for your support. Warmest best wishes, David :-)
A prefect way to spend my lunchtime! I was so pleased to recognize Knockan Crag, since that was one of the more rushed stops we took on my tour of the Highlands and Islands two years ago. Seeing that and Ullapool made me long for the time I can be back, with a rented vehicle, so I can take my time and explore more carefully! Best wishes for a great weekend!
Hi Stephanie, hope you're well and having a good weekend. I'm so glad you had the chance to visit Knockan Crag and Ullapool on your last visit. I'm a big fan of Knockan Crag and I hope you can spend more time there when you return. Having a car really does give you the flexibility to just take your time and really explore. Take care, best wishes, David
Thanks Stephen, glad you liked it. I uploaded it in 4K, but for some reason UA-cam has only published it in 1080p, but never mind. Yes, I'm really looking forward to heading back up north. I've been fishing all over Scotland for over 40 years now and I thought it'd be nice to do a video about it. Hope you have a great weekend :-)
Love your work David. Good to see some of the lesser known parts of Scotland. I am Australian and have visited a couple of times, but as a tourist with limited time, we have only visited more well known places. We were to return to explore more this year but had to cancel unfortunately. But will be back.
Hi Phil, really glad you're enjoying the videos, it makes all the hard work worthwhile. I'm trying to concentrate on lesser known locations that I think people will like. They've been particularly badly hit by the pandemic and I just hope they can get through it. I hope you can visit us again soon. Warmest best wishes & thanks, David :-)
Hi Anne, I’m so glad you’re going to visit Caithness & Sutherland. They’re stunning parts of the country and truly where my heart lies. There’s a resonance in the land which is hard to describe, but I always feel it when I get up there and it always lifts me. Hope you have a wonderful time. We have some amazing beaches up there and I can really recommend visiting Smoo cave at Durness if you’re close by. Have a wonderful time, all the best, David
Hope you have a wonderful time Phil. September is a great month to explore Scotland. I’m heading up to Sandwood Bay at the beginning of September which I’ve always wanted to visit. We have some remarkably beautifully beaches and the scenery in the north is just incredible. Have a lovely time, all the best, David 🙂
Hi David, as part of a trip we plan to take next year, we want to drive from Thurso, to Ullapool, to Plocton, ending up in Portree on Skye. Would you have information that you could share on that route?
Hi Carla, lovely to hear from you and it's great to hear you're going to do this fabulous route. I'm more than happy to share, but your enquiry is very wide and I'm not sure specifically what info you need? Look forward to hearing back from you. All the best, David :-)
