    Stunning!!! Bart is wonderful here, young with an intensity that really suits the work. He appears to relish the choreography!!! Thanks Alex. This is one of my favourite Bejart works.

      i love the work too! and yes, i agree he seems very committed to the ballet. i've only seen it once on stage sadly - Angele Albrecht and Daniel Lommel from Ballet of the C20 performed this pas de deux from ‘Bhakti’ at a gala in London in 1973 - way back at the dawn of time! LOL

    My god Alex .. Who knew! I have been watching him on ONP docs for years, short, grey, balding but with humor .. And a choreographer of a Swan Lake, a very interesting Coppelia and Le Petit Danseus! He does talk about seeing Nureyev dance in the 60's .. And here he is .. A hunk!!

    some words about Bart that j saw in live : he was always with a great vitality also in second coreo as " l'apprenti sorcier " ( 1973 ) vitality and fabulous technic was Bart j remember very well a fabulous ' fire bird " with Florence Clerc ( 1975 ) but mostly for me a fabulous Bart-Clerc in a vertiginious pdd in second movt of Palais de Cristal by Bakanchone : Claire Motte was sitting with me she was with ( Eugène Poliakof ? ) and j listened Claire Motte say that Bart-Clerc were unimaginanle , fabulous in technic also in perfect synchronization , Claire Motte talked with j think E Poliakof about Bart-Clerc , Bart-Clerc were two great technicians nobody write this ;.there is a video 1980 of Etudes ( Lander ) where Bart is one the first in his variation on Y T ; in 1983 j saw the last time in Bart in Desire ( P Dupont and Noureev ) j remember very well Pontois-Bart in this sleeping Beayty at Palais des Congrès-Paris ( the video not on Y T with Noureew less good very far from Bart always with the same vitality he was in 1972).. j saw him also in " Mouvances " 1975 . J don't agree with false comments here ,j listen he was short a non-sens Barycnikov was a size of 1,68 m no more ; j saw also Bart-Piollet in Don-quichott pdd ( with W Piollet 1975 ) Comments about this Star is false , overweight ? how is possible to read those things ?.thete are several pics of him for people who don't known him . J think really that some audience who write here has never saw Bart in live no possible to don't write it , it's an other erea where there was not VHS then some people try to write what they imagine stop to write false comments

    Thank you for this. I've seen only classical round of this competition where they danced pdd from Le Corsaire. Madam Furtseva (minister of culture in USSR) was a big hater of Bejart. It was one of few appearances of his choreo in Soviet Union.

      the whole thing is, happily, now on YT - and it's interesting to see the range of dance types. the formidable Madam Furtseva! yes, i came across her again recently in video on Maria Callas's 1970 visit to Moscow - ua-cam.com/video/twz-pG3UPAE/v-deo.html&spfreload=10

      +John Hall She said that Bejart's choreography is all about two things - sex and God. ~There's no God and there's no sex in Soviet Union. Soviet people do not need them~ she said :) But after all time is a best judge. Bakti is still interesting and inspirational to watch. Unlike Furtseva's phrases.

      yes, it still looks good and will last - the real judge of the ballet. LOL - sounds like just the kind of thing Madam Furtseva would say!

    I am not a fan of Bejart but this is great to watch. He always gets such wonderful dancers. And if he would take out those meaningless pirouettes the chore is not bad!

    • @JohnRaymondHall
      @JohnRaymondHall  8 років тому

      +Sima Raft i agree - sometimes choreographers have those few ballets you like/love and the rest leave you cold. composers are the same. yes, those pirouettes are so annoying and add nothing to any aspect of the ballet.

      +pediatrapaola lucky you - i only ever saw Angele Albrecht and Daniel Lommel from Ballet of the C20 perform this pas de deux from ‘Bhakti’.
      i used to see the LFB a lot - i wonder if i saw him and have forgotten - when was he with the company?

    Belle vidéo ( restaurée merci ) : quant aux commentaires il y a beaucoup de " truqueurs " sur UA-cam , des personnes qui font un commentaire sur un Danseur sans jamais l'avoir vu une seule fois ! Alors arrêtons nous à la vidéo sans plus . Merci à J Hall de nous faire partager une vidéo assez ancienne en très bon état

      Je connais Bhakti de voir Maina Gieguld danser avec Bejart dans les années 1970. oui, je suis d'accord - certaines personnes ont des opinions sans représentation ni ballet. Ces images proviennent du Concours International de Ballet de 1969 qui présentait un certain nombre de spectacles très intéressants. oui, la musique hindoue est magnifiquement choisie et la corvée n'est pas une prise coloniale sur l'exotisme de l'Inde pour les Européens. J'aurais bien aimé Patrick Dupont, n'est-ce pas? comment était sa performance?

    • @alainspiteri502
      @alainspiteri502 7 років тому

      John Hall J'ai connu M Gielgud dans les années 1970 par les ballets Roland Petit où elle dansait en " Guest ". Bakti III avait été réglé par Béjart à l'Opéra de Paris pour Wilfried Piollet N Thibon et Jean Guizerix , Patrick Dupont créait pour cette soirée " Waslaw de J Neumeir .

      oui, j'ai lu que c'était très tôt avec Maurice Bejart, des ballets comme Death, Bhakti, Webern 5 et Songs of a Wayfarer. quand tu l'as mise, quelles étaient tes impressions?

      +pediatrapaola Interesting what he was thinking at this moment. Clearly he was a hater of Bejart...In one of his last interviews he described Bejart's creativity as dirt inside the pure source of classical ballet.

    • @pediatrapaola
      @pediatrapaola 8 років тому +1

      reanimato1 surely he was not a fan ,but l saw a lot of bejart in my prime bacause he performed very much in italy ,l saw the most of his work and was not all garbage expecially in his best period 70's early 80's and some of his dancers were frankly magnificent
