I too am learning a lot, Jesse. But one of the things I'm also learning in this series and from all of your videos is how to be a father who teaches his sons how to work with him and learn from him. I have two sons about the same age difference as yours but I'm several years behind you guys: my oldest is 4 years old and my youngest is nearly 3 months. Every time my son says "me help me help," I'm trying to think of you and how patiently you let your sons help you while keeping them safe and learning. What a precious sequence to see you up on your second floor with your two boys flying your drone to give us a great overview. Your love for them both is so clear and inspiring. Thanks again for sharing your life with me.
In the beginning of the video when you’re with your sons’ is the best part. It’s the best time you’ll ever have. Don’t ever lose the footage and pictures.
I'll tell you what, purchasing that Telehandler was a very smart move. 👍
Work smarter not harder.....the safety harness became obsolete quickly ;-)
I said it once I will say it 50 times I love this house. It's like a blast shelter it's gonna be amazing heating and cooling.
I think the "flow" of the home with the different roof pitches and window placements is awesome... It will be "eye catching" like a beautiful woman... Maybe even Frank Lloyd Wright eye catching... I love his designs...
Love how you explain the structural considerations and why you are doing what you do design wise.
Love the concrete truck going over the camera shot, it's become a trademark of this build series.
jesse what you are building for your family is a credit to you I'm a retired bricklayer in the UK and watch your house build and never seen this method during my time also thanks for stopping to explain everything Itake my hat off to you mate keep up good standard and i am sure you and your family will be living in a beautiful home All Best Wishes from SOUTHAMPTON ENGLAND
Jesse, Fortress Muller is really taking shape. The design is really pleasing to the eye!
Loved it. Really coming together.
That concrete looked like it was segregating as it was coming out of the pump hose!❤I can’t wait to see you do the roof!👍
Your videos are excellent
Wish everyone had this opportunity but very happy you guys do! God bless you!
Excited for the watch! All the best from Australia 👍
Same from France 😘

I felt real bad watching you pump in the concrete that looked too dry. Thanks for explaining that although it was not the best you had it all sorted. It’s nice to have the concrete come up under the windows but your plan B will fix it. Well done.
It's beginning to look like a house, I'm impressed Jesse.
Brother, your work plus the videos you put out are absolutely amazing. Definitely in the top 3 tubers I enjoy. Your attention to detail is second to none. Thanks for sharing your life’s journey.
thank you
I like a mix of 3 equal parts Portland cement, sand, and hydraulic cement. Makes a nice slurry but super strong and bonds well. That would work for your window voids. I've done floor and wall patches both and never had it separate
I am absolutely loving this series on building your house. It is so informative and entertaining at the same time. Jesse is clearly very smart and driven.
You and your crew are killing it! Awesome!!!
You and your team are troopers, that weather and pump being late sucks regards from denmark
My buddy says use fliseklæb for the small things, it's tiel concret thing, don't if it's what you are talking about under the windows. What are you clading the outside with(got a picture??) regards Sören
Ps new houses here get 625mm insulation in the roof and 425mm in the floor (25.2mm is 1 inch😉) so roughly 25 inchs insulation in the roof and 17 inchs in the floor
looking good jess
With the cement all pickup some packets of their Flow Control, it will make the cement all flow like water into those inspection ports. They stock the packets next to the bags.
Yea I was going to use that and the retarder so it doesnt set up in 3 minutes like it will without it. That cementall stuff is great, been using it foe years. Its good to hear that you know what it is too
Enjoyi everything from start to finish . Great job! From North Carolina USA
Jesse you are amazing dude, this part of your build looked very challenging is many ways an you're always cool an collected. cheers man and good luck moving forward. Always stoked when you post
Jessie,
watch Bondobuilt on YT, he would fill the window sills and then put the pre made re-enforcement framing in then pour the uppers. still very impressive stuff here
Geweldig om te zien hoe jullie het doen geweldig. Bedankt voor de informatie. En niet te vergeten een prachtigen film bedankt 🙏👍👋🏼
This was a good video. You seem to have the ability to think in 3D. You can envision many steps a head in the building process. That is an amazing skill. This is the first ICF construction I have observed.
I am proud to know you jesse , you are a good man.
Wow I have not seen anything like you have been doing. So interesting thanks so much looking forward to the rest of the build.
Very impressive Jesse, I was actually biting my nails thinking that something bad was going to happen with the pour because of the bad weather and the concrete starting to set because of the pump truck being late. I'm really glad that it all worked out in the end, I know that we are rooting for you and your brothers to totally succeed in this home build...Thanks so much Jesse!
yea I was a little nervous too, there was 5k into the concrete and pump truck being there. all it takes is that pump being a little later and I have an absolute nightmare on hands
@@jmuller86 Want better results with spray foam? Mist Water before doing foam.
@@Melicoy Misting water will cure it faster, but it can weaken the bond. Normal humidity is plenty enough to harden it. It may be a good idea in 10-15% relative humidity just don't overdo it.
GREAT PROGRESS
one word jesse supreme
The first time I used a flyash mix in a wall, I freaked out because it was flowing so well. I assumed the driver had dumped 20 gallons of water in the mix. He calmed me down but I did four test canisters on that pour.
Don't worry about the concrete sitting an hour re late truck. Some engineers reject it after an hour but very, very rarely and it usually gets used on pre-prepared paths to accommodate/assuage excess concrete orders. I have literally made forms for hundreds and hundreds of thousands of meter cubes (UK) of concrete and never once seen weakness in concrete sitting up to an hour.
I used to do commercial construction, the way you were talking about filling voids is exactly what we did too...
Not to be a you should have guy but, being a 3 level building a elevator shaft for future would have been a great idea. Being in the business I'm not sure why I didn't mention it sooner. Being a forever home it could be really handy.. Until you need it they make good closets. You are more than qualified to install one.
I will be installing an elevator in the addition when I build it next year
This is a cool project, Jesse. Thanks for all the vids. I've never seen ICF construction before, so nice to learn something new. I was curious when you are filling a gabled wall, as you go up the angle how do you keep the lower parts of the angle from blowing out? Do you have to cap the top of the wall as you go up?
If the concrete is at a 5/6 slump then this 7/12 pitch will hold it, but anything more than a 6 and its running down. We will probably pour the roof at a 4 slump and use my crane concrete bucket to send it up there
good job. I've learned a lot from you. it seems very difficult to do the beams across the span of the gable and get it right. to tie it all in.
the gable is not so bad, but the valley beams need lots of thinking and planning
Jesse. Great work brother. Hands down the best ICF build on youtube
Yes, I've seen concrete fail to come up as under your window ledges/soffits, in fact all the time! We usually make enough room to pour it in where your inspection holes are but in this instance I'd mix grout 50/50 with silica sand (to save cost) and water, or even use foam concrete because you are right, no strength required there.
That's a ton of work Jesse, great video the sky is always beautiful there!!
This is one of my favorite series Jesse. Tons of educational information and being able to see you put the plan into action! I can't wait for the next step! Thanks for taking us along and take care!
Looking great Jesse....Admire your work ethic!
Why wouldn't you fill under the windows and then put the sills on? Awesome job you are doing
that pump is violent
Stunning!
Your work and explanations are spectacular! When I watch your videos, I can not stop and watch a part later. I am glued to the screen and have to watch it all. Thank you for posting!
Great stuff as always Jesse, I love the ICF house videos. I live in a large suburban hellscape, i dream about having property like yours one day. I'll be to old to do anything with it by the time i get it. Keep up the good work!
...lookin' good, comin' right along, nice work, keep safe...
If it's symmetrical, I wonder could you have constructed a rectangle and then cut it diagonally to get both sides of the roof slope.
It's never easy to vibrate under openings especially with a small diameter vibe. I'm thinking a bigger one would possibly put too much stress on those forms. Could have cut a couple holes in the top plate and slid vibe in that way. I wonder about that 3.5" section. Nice scaffold. We used stuff like that 40 years ago. I wouldn't ask anyone to work off it today. I like the idea of the ICF forms, stronger than a bunch of 2x4s and plywood. Hope the home turns out well. Was that crete tested after sitting for so long?
Jesse have you heard of fast 2K it's a concrete mix that's in a bag and it actually expands I've seen it used on some pole barns and it looks like it's pretty strong so you might want to try using that in those windows that you have those areas in I'm just making suggestion this is Bob from Vero Beach Florida God bless have a great day and stay safe and house looks great
great vid Jesse
Nice video. personally i wouldn't do it all in one go it looks like too much hasle and i expect you have many empty spaces in your walls even you did your best ..I would do it in two stages just to be sure bottom section is solid and only then i would continue with that upper section (above windows) ..but you did what you did so good luck with that :)
That’s not how it’s supposed to work then you end up with a cold joint. You can easily poor 18’ a day.
@@Z71hosestretcher Yes you are correct it isn't the best approach but pour it poorly isn't answer as well . After all you will not see how badly or good it was done now. and it could be even worse than you might think..maybe there is some way how to check it ??
amazing work! Not conventional for sure and very instructif as usual, thanks Jesse!
Well in other parts of the world building with concrete is standard and cardboard and wooden walls are deemed exotic.
You are really good at what you do however as you mentioned when you rely on others someone is bound to let you down. Job well done. Nice to see finish line is in sight. Keep going. Dont wait. Planning and preparation takes time curing will happen as you move along. It will all come together in fine style.
Great video ( great content)- eagerly awaiting the next instalment.Better than any mainstream TV
When you were digging that donut in your backyard, I thought you were crazy. I am happy to say you are proving me wrong. Strong work!
Hello, je pensais que la maison 🏡 🏡 fini depuis le temps a passé ,et c'est super☺👍
The same modern Building Methods we're 🇩🇪 used to.
Well done Jesse, watching your new home progress from New Zealand. Bob Wilson. aka (uncle Bob.)
Good morning everyone 🇯🇲
A lot of work but will pay off in the end looking great .Felt bad it rained but you got it done looking forward to more video's of the house and more all the best to you Jesse very well done guy's
Boa tarde muito ótimo esse serviço maravilhoso amigo
Seriously that pump truck comp owes you a discount on sending you a truck not cleaned out ready to go for a major pour on supporting walls!!!
I called them about it, it seemed like they might do something but havent heard yet. gonna try again on monday
Hey Jesse, do you have to worry about engineers signing off on steel before pouring?
Man you are one determined guy, I've been thier in log building but what you are doing is something else which is why I'm guessing this is your concrete fortress , and an outstanding build in my opinion. I wonder how many of your followers realize how big a factor you were in Andrew Camarato's container castle, you definitely contributed in the actual construction and helping make it
happen , that's my take anyway . It really upset me to see the pump diminish your
carefully layed out planning and hard work, but like you said it'll be fine. You think outside the box and that's something always worthwhile watching, always best wishes , and be safe .
👍😎☮️
Thanks, yea we did alot of thinking outside the box at Andrew's too. But that only aided in this project, especially with the crane and steel situation
jessie, im wondering,, umtil you get the roof on didnt you just make a giant swimming pool or is there drains put in?
the water can go down the stairway for now, but yea if that wasnt there I would have to put in a drain somewhere
Man I would have been hot I'm curious how far away the plant was from you you handled it very well on camera it really did cause problems that was preventable I guess you can tell I'm hot but great video Jessie thanks
Sure was glad to see you secure the platform to the lift. I've seen the aftermath of an unsecured platform and it sure wasn't pretty.
Looking good!
Yes it is acceptable to use a high strength grout to fill voids . Make sure your funnel is tall enough to provide enough head pressure to force the flow from one side to the other. Do not use quick set mixes that produce high heat via their exothermic reaction. I’d use a high strength non-sag non-shrink structural grout mixed to it’s thinnest acceptable proportions like Euclid.
I’m thumbsing this up not because I know what you’re talking about but because it sounds as though you probably know what you’re talking about
Nuce work, wnth no blow outs. Love your thinking and work ethics, you should be proud.
Jesse, WOW that's impressive and after all said and done that home will most likely be around for your great great grandchildren to enjoy, excited to see the finished work as always God bless y'all and see yah on the next episode. From Gaffney South Carolina viewer.
It's just my imagination or is that Telstar crane, smoking a lot less?
You were talking about rebuilding the engine at some point?
All the Best from Surrey BC Canada
I Look so forward to the next video in your new house build series, Jesse. Your work ethic is amazing, and a man of many talents and knowledge as well, with you telling all of us your steps and why your doing this or that. Very Much appreciated. Your bit of a tease into the next video and " something you bought". Taken it your gonna do a cement roof?? Will be looking forward to how you are going to achieve that and how it will all look, also will be interesting when it comes to all the wiring in this home as well. Here's Hoping you can have a Christmas tree in here for the kids this Christmas. Looking forward to that.
yea it will be all concrete for the roof and we will have a christmas tree up there , whether there is a roof or not. We already have one set up in the basement (dont ask me why, because I dont know either )
Hahaha, more ads than video. Never seen anything like it on Tube. I've tried watching twice. My 3rd try, I'm at the 40 minute mark. I ought to have made an ad directory and posted it. I stopped watching TV because of the out of control ads. My thoughts and who gives a crap?
@@fastsetinthewest if ads bother you that much, skip to near end of vid at first then back to start and watch
Looking a little like the Amityville horror house. But very awesome non the less.
Awesome that you’ve got a new lifting basket and pinned to the forks 👍. I thought you wouldn’t have harnesses to go with it, you showed me wrong 👍. However, you should be connected from the back cleat as the harness you have and connected to the front will cause major back injuries in a fall. Just a mention as I’d love to see more of your videos. Also, if you haven’t been trained, always have an escape plan as the healthiest person hanging from a harness will survive 20 minutes maximum before the lower braces cut off blood circulation causing heart failure.
I will make sure there is somebody around at all times that can operate another machine to get me. I should be closing on my old house next week and plan to buy a nice boom lift. I will strap in from the back from now on
Wow 👍
An amazing video Jesse, I have never seen a completely built/poured concrete house. I have seen precast concrete houses and structures. The engineering and rebar details is absolutely amazing. Sorry to see the pump truck messing up the schedule. Thanks for sharing.
I like how you cut this with heat so styrofoam doesn’t go everywhere!
Well done Jesse, great work mate
That brand new Putz pump cost $700,000 and used pump less expensive but comes with lots lots of headaches
concrete pump always problems naver ending stories
This was amazing to watch... and I appreciate the explanations you give from time to time. Questions pop into my mind... and then you answer them. I love the use of time lapse too. I doubt ANYONE is or ever has built a house precisely this way... original out of the box thinking, and I can really appreciate that.
Was worried about the concrete flowing underneath the windows from the beginning. There are products made especially to bond well over existing concrete. I think a high-quality product will bond with new, toothy concrete just fine.
Nice work as usual. I watched until I had to do something, then I hit Pause. When I was ready to watch again I hit PLAY. It worked perfectly.
Absolutely amazing job Jesse.
The Pettibone is working great! It was a long time in coming but worth it now.
It’s frustrating when a sub is late or doesn’t show up at all, especially when you are relying on them to be very punctual. Sh*t happens, but it can make things very difficult.
Good job dealing with a bad situation. When the concrete truck rolled up and then the pump, and there was another concrete truck there already ? We always had trouble getting concrete in the bottom of block outs wider than a couple of feet. We always had to cut out to pour concrete directly in there, always a mess ! When we strip wood forms cold joints and not tolerated very well.
I still can't believe how well those foam blocks hold up with the minimum of bracing.
Great job !
Wow, at this stage your working on one of the roof windows….. step back and see the picture through the window…… unbelievable wow 👍
You have worst concrete pump driver in the world. Trying to pump t fast causing you so many issues installing concrete into forms
Looking good buddy
Jesse basically this house is built like commercial buildings with the walls and cast concrete floor which I imagine will make a much more solid house
Just love the Pettibone High Lifter. How good is that
Looking like Franken-house with all those supports and rebar rods sticking out all over the place! haha ha. Hey it's never a pretty thing when making great sausage, right? 👍
I love that you include your family in your videos Jesse. I gave Lucas a thumbs up as always.
Very nice job Jesse that Sucks about the pump truck
When that is done it should be quite strong enough for the next "Sandy" that comes along!
Can you give us the stats on how many cans of Great Stuff you have gone through??
for the whole project? probably 50, just in this video atleast a dozen
Get a safety cone for the funnel for the windows. you can cut it to fit.
