I like how high and smooth the Frames Per Second is
Thanks
You could have just used loop cuts so you wouldn't have all those non square faces on the edges of your mesh. You also could have just pressed 7 to go to top view.
Yep, I believe you are correct. So many different ways but I think your way would make for a better workflow.
even better again, select the face/faces you want, then just subdivide that, instead of selecting the whole thing
for all Today, look for " Cell Fracture" its almost the same, good luck - you have to find good setting to make his look like he video, in my project i didnt and the wall looks like one flat peace like before...damn ! i just want one Wall...man
In cell fracture you can fracture it and then subdivide it and it helps but it's not as good as the crackit.
@@BlenderRookie on new blenders versions there no Crack It
@@nusrun1767 Which is why I mentioned using cell fracture and then subdividing.
@@BlenderRookie sooo, where can I download cell fracture?
@@nusrun1767 It's part of Blender. Go to "edit", "preferences", "addons", type "cell fracture" in the search and put a check next to cell fracture. As far as the in and outs of using cell fracture, I have not used it since many versions of blender ago and I don't remember much about it.
To get this look with Cell Fracture, subdivide all of them, then add a deformation modifier with the clouds texture, apply this only on 1 axis (outwards) with a strength of 0.5. This is as close as I could get this look.
That's pretty much what I was thinking.
Nice tutorial, thank you!
You are welcome.
1:20 - 3:20
Edge Selection - ALT+SHIFT Click interior edges - Press X - Dissolve Edges
Yep.
The add-on you feature in this video isn't available any longer. Have you used any similar add-ons to get similar effects? It's also interesting seeing how things have changed with the version evolutions as well... 3.2.2 now...
awesome video! just what i needed. Thanks a bunch
You are welcome.
My brain 🤕 when he was rotating to get the right angles to select. But still, I learnt a lot from this.
You saved me alot of time thank you sir. :)
Happy to help
Wow what a good video, how are you not the face and voice (haha) of blender, really loved the vid man keep it up
Thanks....
LOL I'm not the face or voice of blender because I am a rookie. The only thing I may not be a rookie at is the physics side of blender.
Funny how people take a time to comment something bad about this amazing tutorial, as if someone could know everything about this software, thank you for thr file given to thr guy brlow tho, saved me a lot of time
Add on does not appear to work in blender v2.9
You are correct.
Nice work. Was helpful.
Glad it helped
Thanks for this mate, also your accent is really cool :D
Accent, what accent? LOL Dude, you should hear the accent of people in the Appalachian mountains not far from where I live....
Youre awesome
Thanks.
Excellent pacing and detail. Good work man.
Thank you.
selecting all them faces is more simple to shift/alt each line of faces, thats 5/6 clicks.
I'll give that method a try. Thanks.
I have a blog tutorial similar to this, and both have the same problem: the curves end up facing inwards. I've tried everything, from flipping normals, to texture settings, to fracture v. crack, to... I just can't make this work right, man... And I know it's not either of us, I'm following both you and the other guy to the letter. It's something in my settings that I can't fix.
One of many unexplained things.
Since I'm new to Blender and I've downloaded v2.8, I cannot seem to follow this tutorial since the Blender layout seems so different. I was able to get some stuff done but not all of it and certainly not enough for it to look like a stone wall.
I don't think the new version has "crackit" anyway.
@@BlenderRookie then how do we do it without the crack it option 😕
@@shayonisarkhel Off the top of my head I'd use the cell fracture and then subdivide to round the corners and then combine all the pieces into one object by using ctrl j.
Beautiful work! Thank you. I am looking for a tutorial on how to make concrete block walls in the style of the Ennis House by Architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Hopefully that could be explored.
Can't find the crack it addon at all, did they remove it in the newer versions? Why do I struggle to find an answer to such cases on the internet, isn't it that blender got a big community!
I don't think it's in the new versions. But you can download the old version(2.79) create it in it and then "append" it into the new versions.
@@BlenderRookie Weird to remove such a useful addon, cell fracture seems to be a pain to use for this case, thanks for the very fast answer, will do that.
@@velstorios9473 I wish I could have been more help.
@@BlenderRookie I recently started learning Blender, so the UI in 2.79 kinda drove me mad XD
So in the material tab I can't find the "surface" options to change to principled, that's the current issue
@@velstorios9473 LOL I was so used to 2.79 that when they changed to 2.8 and the current layout I hated it. LOL Now I have forgotten a lot about 2.79.
great vid Mate :)
Thank you.
subbed
cool beans
Any way to make the stones overlay each other like bricks? This looks good and almost there, but in a gust of wind it would fall apart.
If you need it to look like carved stone you could just use the cell fracture and then bevel the cells.
@@BlenderRookie I need to make it look like a hand made stone wall, where the stones comes in varying sizes but are like 90% square. And overlap at least 10% on the joints.
@@rhov233 If I think of a good way I will try to remember to let you know. I know there's a good way. I saw a tut a few years back. But I never needed it so I forgot.
@@rhov233 Here's a tut I made that might help you. I made it about a year ago and it's not exactly what you are asking for but it still might help.
ua-cam.com/video/p00i2ncXoYk/v-deo.html
This was the most infuriating thing to watch be explained. I didn't even get halfway into it before screaming "JUST PRESS NUMPAD 7 TO GET A BOTTOM-DOWN VIEW!! THEN PRESS B TO CREATE A HIGHLIGHTING SELECTING TOOL YOU COULD JUST DRAG THE MOUSE ON TO SELECT THE FACES!!! OR YOU COULD HAVE JUST PRESSED ALT+SELECT!!!"
Granted, the finished product is fantastic, but holy crap.
I don't read capitalized sentences.
nice.
Thanks
It looks like 'crack it' is now part of 'fracture cell', otherwise this is still relevant in blender 3.x (so far)
For some reason my cell fracture doesn't make all the pieces solid. And the dang edges of his bricks are smooth and beveled...🤷🙄🤔mine aren't. But I was able to find the cell fracture in 2.82. Enable cell fracture then it's in object/quick effects/cell fracture.
That's a known glitch. Unfortunately I don't know of a workaround.
Crack it does not exist in blender 2.91 and I could not find those side tabs create it anywhere in Blender, need some help please
There's not automated way to make it in 2.8 and newer.
there is a cell fracture add on that kinda gets there, but not really.
Which version of Blender do you have? Mine doesn't have an option for dimensions
The version in this video I believe was 2.79. Currently I use 2.91.
@@BlenderRookie I'm at the "Crack It!" part, and it still looks like a big square.
@@stephenedward6866 If you press the letter "N" it will bring out the side panel and you can change the dimensions there.
@@BlenderRookie Btw, I found 2.79 in my old files. It looks crappier than the 2.79 you're using
@@stephenedward6866 I had the "energy" color scheme addon. www.blendernation.com/2016/05/05/blender-theme-energy-v18/
Great tutorial! the problem is, I can't even find the "create" button. I've looked everywhere for it and for the "crack it". I have Blender 2.8. Where do I find it?
Unfortunately, I don't think crackit is available for 2.8.
It is still there but its under cell fracture. Unfortunately not as easy....as they're additional steps to consider: evermotion.org/tutorials/show/9267/create-stone-wall-in-blender-tip-of-the-week
@@007thexman i found that tut as well but didn't like the result as much as blender rookie's
@@gr8m8n8 yeah I found same but if you play around using both tutorials you can get close enough. I found using particle effect and 0.5 scale was the wrong style for me. I used the start of this video. I even sometimes add a single edge loop on the top/on the sides of the wall.
Any idea why my Crack It function would be making a large amount of hollow stones? That's really the best description I can think of :|
I don't know. But it sometimes does me the same way.
have this addon for 2.8?
Not that I am aware of, I believe it was eliminated. However, there is a workaround. Just create the cracked object(s) in 2.7? and then save the blend and then append it into 2.8. That's the only option I have found to make it work.
Unfortunately this does not exist in 2.8x :( I can do " cell fracture" but it doesnt create a stone wall like yours did
Yeah, it's not in the newer version. I would download 2.79 and use it to create the wall and then save the project and append that wall into a project open in the new versions. That's really the only automated way I know of.
How can I do that in Blender 2.8? :/
Last time I checked crackit doesn't exist for 2.8 and newer. But you can create it in 2.79 and then "file" "append" that cracked object into a 2.8 and newer project.
Okay! Thank you so much. Very fast answer yay! Have a nice day ☀️
The whole list of Base Color, Roughness in your software, I dont have in mine. I've searched everywhere.. So I'm left with a glossy stonewall.. :P Which Blender do you have? I have 2.79
If you have 2.79, then you should have all the options I have.
Ivan, you are probably right. I didn't even think of that.
Blender version for crakit????
I think 2.79.
Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
If you were to upload this model to roblox would it lag out the game?
I have no idea. I don't know what roblox is.
@@BlenderRookie nevermind
@@Bluewater225 Sorry I couldn't help.
cant find crack it in 2.8
As far as I know it's not available in 2.8. So you need to create it in 2.79 and then append it from that into a 2.8 or open that 2.79 project into 2.8.
@@BlenderRookie Gutted.
Never mind.
Great tutorial by the way. You taught me some new features I didn't know. Good pacing as I could follow you every step.
Cheers.
@@Ophiuchus123456789 Thank you. I'm always so unsure how fast I should be.
crack it does not exsist only cell facture, I guess it's the same thing
Nah, they aren't the same thing. Crackit needs cell fracture but cell fracture alone isn't crackit.
However, you can use 2.79 to create the cracked object and then append it into a newer version.
Can u send me that by any chance?
i rlly need it for game
This was from 4 years ago. I tend to only keep my blend files for about a month.
@@BlenderRookie yea but i cant find option crack it anymore and i saw this video and im posting my game today at 2pm
:(
@@BlenderRookie can u make for me any clasic wall? please i rlly need it ! appriciate it !.
@@zaninakuhinja953 Here's a quick wall I made that's procedural. It will help you learn the process by looking at the modifiers.
On the right you can adjust the "size" and "intensity" to make the wall look different. You can also change it from "musgrave" to something else for a different style. You can also add more subdivisions in the modifiers for more details.

@@BlenderRookie omg tysm!!
is there a way to do this in blender 2.8?
IDK, let me check.
Unfortunately not that I can find. The "Crack it" addon doesn't seem to be available in 2.8. But you can create the object in 2.7* and "append" it into a 2.8 project.
@@BlenderRookie thx
@@galagabyte9046 You are welcome.
Ten THOUSAND vertices??? . . . This is useless.
I don't even think the crack it addon still exists.
The cell modifier is a piece of shit, doesn't work normally
Yeah, sometimes.
