And a hearty good afternoon from Illinois. Thanks for watching this presentation. I hope you learned some important things from it. And I hope you enjoy my other presentations.

Not sure how it's used in mathematical equations, but the only place I ever see this symbol used is on technical drawings/documents to denote an approximation of a numeric value. Whereas ~3" is read as "approximately 3 inches."

Tilde in the unix-ian terminals means "Go to my home directory."
Just ype ~ at the cursor and hit enter. You will cd to your $HOME.

Awful meandering video. Tl;dw: Tildes are used to denote approximate values like roughly three meters "~3 mts", ranges like from three to five "3~5" and other less common notations, but in everyday usage those two are by far the more prevalent.
Beware though that some confusion may be introduced when we consider other languages use the word tilde for the diacritic accents on top of letters like "ó" and the existence of similar looking but unrelated symbols like the very tilde looking thing that is part of the "Ñ" symbol which is not an N with a tilde on top but a completely different letter.

Thank you for watching this video. You stated that the content of this video meanders. Can you be more specific about your criticism?

@@speedlearner your video is 5:28 minutes long and you start to address the subject at 4:04 and even then you do it poorly both in terms of content and production.
I know you don't care and are only asking to generate more engagement on your channel, but it will dissuade other users from your content if you keep the comments and you lose the engagement anyway if you delete them, so worth a reply.

I see that you think that I won't reply to you. But you couldn't be more mistaken. But let's start with my introduction.
First of all you must have realized by now that this is an educational channel. And by now, if you were observant, you would have noticed that I haven't earned any money from UA-cam since 2018. And I work in retail so I'm obviously not rich. However, if you had watched HTML Lesson 160, you would have seen that I have a new ability that I will soon implement into my UA-cam videos. Once I set up my computer templates, I will use JSON to illustrate my videos and you won't see my face as much.
But what about the introduction? Did you see any videos produced by Cord Cutters News? I've been seeing a trend on UA-cam videos that I want to counteract. Simply put, likes and subscribes will not increase traffic to any UA-cam videos. That's not how the algorithm works. And that's why I've added this introduction to my videos. I simply don't like people lying to other people.
I bet at this point you may be thinking why didn't I just post a separate video about the like and subscribe topic? Have you seen my ratings recently? Do you think just posting a video on this topic would have been watched by a large crowd?
But why place this introduction on every single video? Do you think everyone is interested in drawing cursive letters or do you think that every single person on my channel is interested in my song reviews?
And I'm well aware that I haven't added any timestamps to any of my latest videos. But as I just explained, I don't earn any money from UA-cam so I'm slowly upgrading my channel. And this has consumed a great deal of my time. Once I find a little time, I will add the timestamps to my latest videos so you can skip the introductions.
So what exactly didn't I include in this Tilde presentation that you wanted me to add? I would really like to know. By the way, thanks for watching and commenting on my video.

@@speedlearner no, I don't think you won't reply because you are starved for engagement, I think you don't care about the quality of content or informing, you just care about making money and that is why your channel is doomed, it has nothing to do with anything else. Your channel.is called SPEEDLEARNING, speed and learning, your video took four out of five minutes to start...so not speedy and in the remaining minute as an afterthought you did an awful job at informing so the learning part was also a failure.
If people don't want to watch a topic, why do you think its a good idea to trojan horse it on videos about other topics? Lol. You are so high on your own farts jajaja, you should have made a separate video and promoted it in a SHORT intro on your other videos and then move on to the video's topic.
Maybe you should take a content production course, there are many cheap and simple ones, Brilliant and Nebula have some.
Your diatribe was tragicomic, most comic than tragic but still lmao.
You suck and your channel sucks, hopefully you'll do better in the future but doesn't seem likely jajaja.

OMG, you're guilty of exactly what you are ranting about... pre-load the video with irrelevant ramblings before getting to the content in order to extend the watch time.

Actually no I'm not. I guess you didn't listen to the introduction very well. Inexperienced UA-camrs are being told on a regular basis that if someone subscribes to their channel or likes a video that their videos will get more views and watch time. This statement is simply false and that's what I was trying to point out in this introduction.
But you're not the first person to bring this to my attention. So I will explain to you the same thing that I explained to the other person. I told people to encourage their viewers to watch their entire videos and leave nice comments. This will stimulate the UA-cam algorithm.
Why did I decide to place this intro on all my newest videos? Because I knew two things. Had I placed this on a separate video, the video itself would probably not become very popular. That means no one would see this intro and learn valuable information. And why did I include this on virtually every new video? That's because not everyone will watch my accounting videos or my math videos or my computer videos. If you have any better ideas, feel free to share them.
Before I finish my vacation I will print timestamps on my new videos. That way people can skip these intros.
