I’ve got a Renault Zoe on loan at the moment but how do you charge it without a smart phone ,are there any chargers where you driver to it plug it in then pay with debit card, this all seems to much trouble to me
I believe you can just use a contactless debit card on some machines, the easiest way without a smart phone is to have cards or key fobs from the charging companies that you use like a contactless card
Thanks for your video. Are you able to use the heater while you are charging? Aparently is impossible. It is so uncomfortable to charge in winter if you have to stay on the car.
Been looking to get a zoe, but this charging is stressful. Hour wait plus downloading a app and say if you only want half charge can you pull it out? Its very confusing
If you have a house where you can charge a Zoe then you will put it on charge at night and it will be ready in the morning, my mother has this car and has never used a public charger in 24 months of ownership, however she wouldn’t drive far even in a diesel so it suits her as no more petrol stations fill ups, If you don’t have a place to charge at home or work I wouldn’t purchase a electric car myself This was a early model Zoe, later models have more range, but if you’re buying a Zoe check out what charger is fitted, I’m going to do a video on this but basically later Zoe’s have a slow or faster charger fitted and even later mark 2 Zoe’s might have a ccs charger (apart from base models) which is better for fast charging. On to charging you can stop charging at any point from 1% up to 100% in fact on a public charger it’s best to only charge to around 80% drive and charge to 80% at next charger as this would save you more time in a journey As for pulling out the cable, every electric car from different brands locks the charging cable into the car while charging so they don’t just pull out (like shown in those VW itv adds)
Apps for charging aren’t a problem you can usually get physical cards for charging if or use a contactless bank card, but apps are more convenient like using your bank and store cards on your phone so less to carry in your wallet you would soon get use to it
A quick note on range don’t look at manufacturers range and expect to get that this is in ideal conditions what I have found is that you get around 2.5-3.5 miles per kw of battery whichever brand you drive more like 3-4 miles on a small electric like a Zoe in real world driving so use that in range calculations eg 10kw gives 25 to 35 miles of range 50kw gives 125 to 175 miles
Just lock the car with your key card, if you are at some chargers opening the door will stop it charging, so get out of the car close doors then plug in charger
I know what you mean, this is an ideal 2nd car, or if you don’t travel far, but in 7 years the range of the Zoe has doubled, if it dose the same in the next 7 years it will be a realistic 1st car or only car for many, it can be now but there is a compromise range/charge time. The new Tesla model s coming out at the end of the year has a range of 520+ miles and 133 extra miles from a 15min charge if you have a spare £130 grand burning a hole in you back pocket
@@RichManPoorMotors personally I'd have a 2nd gen Prius I think they are a decent compromise and look fairly decent And they look good lowered on nice alloys 😂
@@itsmephil2255 great thing about cars is that everyone has a different requirement, and every manufacturer has a different solution, in my 20’s I has sport cars like mr2 and Porsche, in my 30’s more large saloons, and in my 40’s I am more likely to choose a large 4x4 as family kids and lifestyle The only problem with a hybrid is that when running on electric they have the extra weight of engine and gearbox, and when on petrol they have the extra weight of the electric battery and motors, so there efficiency is. Compromised although I may look at one myself if you have a lot of stop start town traffic like in London then they make sense but if you travel a lot of dual carriageways and free flowing traffic they are no where near there advertised mpg or any better on fuel than a normal combustion engine. Where as the full electric zoe shown in the video has a fuel cost equivalent of 150-160 mpg granted a zoe is more of a town car, but a Tesla model 3 is just as efficient
Very informative thanks as I was not given this advice from the dealership. I hate the design of this car, the seats don't go up or down, the roof is too low, it has far too many blind spots, huge thick pillars for the size of the car and far too many blind spots, plus a tiny rear window. So what if it alarms if something is too close it could still be too late to react. The Renault Zoe is a Horrible little car which feels very unsafe and vulnerable on the road, especially in icy conditions and I'm returning mine with only 63 miles and swapping it for a petrol or diesel car.
At home is about 28p/kw. But you have to sit there for 30 minutes just to go up to like 80% which is probably around 40-45 miles..is ridiclious😆never mention if its winter and you need heater on it will never ever charge..😆😆😆Great future! We had a renault zoe here and it was 98%charge showing 58mile range.
My mother has the car now, we have a indicated mileage range of 93 miles Summer 80 miles winter, so 80% charge would give me 54 miles i it might be a bit more now but charging at home was 6 pence per kw so £1.20 for around 80 miles I think it’s now 8 pence per kw so around £1.60 for 80 miles compare this to around £16:00 for 80 miles in my diesel Astra and £28.00 for 80 miles in my ml at £8.10 per gallon her in the U.K.
That zoe was a 13 plate, some of the later zoe's might have a slower charger and some of the latest zoe's might have ccs (so type 2 and dc fast charging combined)
I’ve owned front, mid and, rear engine, 1.1 up to 5.0. 3 cylinder up to v12, running on petrol LPG and diesel, we might be at the beginning but electric is the way forward, Tesla new model is supposed to do 600miles, 400 kw chargers are on the horizon, but it’s the way it drives that surprised me, so addictive, I wasn’t expecting that, I have a review coming out once I edit it already filmed
It’s a bit like the early days of pc’s or mobile phones, the new jag xj will be electric only, battery technology is progressing so quick, that I believe that cars will be capable of 1000 miles per charge by about 2035 maybe as early as 2030 and be able to charge a 25kw battery the same size as what is in that Zoe battery in under 5 mins maybe under 3minutes. So 300mile range in under 10 minutes
@@RichManPoorMotors very true, but the cost will be massive, brighter the light bulb will cost more to run and so on and on £ will keep going up and never come down just like are electric bills

Pa I read not to leave mobile phones or metal objects in the car during charging as they can overheat. Just how safe is it for SOFT HUMAN TISSUE to remain in a car while charging then? # Electro Magnetic Field??

I don’t have the car anymore so can’t comment, but as you can precondition your car when plugged in I can’t see why it’s not working
