Every time I see a slot car post I have to ask this. I was at the New York auto show back in the late 60's or early 70's. Someone had a track on display. Instead of the usual ribbon contacts on either side of the slot, the track opened and there was a small shoe that sat on some exposed wires. You then closed the track and wires came out. The wires plugged into the car model. You could then steer the car with it's wheels any where on the track independent of any slots. The guy flipped the hand held steering wheel and threw the car into reverse! I don't remember who made the system but it was amazing. Any body remember what it was called?
Originally I didn't plan on getting this car. I figured I already had two other GT 40s. I decided to buy it on a whim to avoid FOMO and I'm sure glad I did because this car drives really well out of the box and its really fast around my track but most of all it's just a beautiful car with a rich history. It's one of the last movies I took my late father to see and he loved the film. Wish he was here to see my track layout and car collection
Great video, Jorge. When you were rummaging around under the hood, do you think there is any way to get a digital chip in there? It sure seems like there is no room, and I would have to do some serious cutting. What part of NC? I'm over in Asheville. Thanks, Grady
Hey Grady! Yes Plenty of room for either a Carrera Chip or a Slotecknik one as well. Also Slot it makes a digital chip for their cars for Carrera but they will not have any ghost car features or I believe speed and brake adjustments.
Hi Jorge, another good review. I just got mine, but I can't figure out how to adjust the front axle. How do you remove the axle to remove the extra part? Maybe I don't have the right tools. Also already broke the back spoiler when rubbing the walls, I need more shoulders.
The ones inside where the axles go should slide off downwards toward the bottom of the chassis. The one on the top should pull off. Remove the axle completely to remove them.
I just received my Ken Miles #1 GT 40 it is a beautiful car.
Nice! mine is still unopened. looking forward to getting it on the track.
Nice video Jorge! I’m just in the middle of getting my GT40 track ready. Really beautiful car! Cheers brother
Thanks Mass!
