I just ordered the NFPA 72 2013 edition on Amazon thanks to this video. I saw that you published this in 2015. Do you think studying the 2013 edition will be sufficient enough to take my exam in 2017?
Hey did you take it the test did the books help, I'm trying to take mine in June 2018 need a tip or three.
You should be fine. NICET will start using other books in October of 2018.
I'm getting ready to take my NICET level I. How much longer will the be using the books you just had in the video before they switch to the updated versions?
+Jordan White The best way to determine which code cycle (2011 or 2014 for NEC 2013 or 2016 for NFPA 72) is to look at the ncet.org website. The moment you sign up for the certification examination you will receive an email detailing which code versions will be allowed in the examination room.
+Fire Alarm Certification Okay cool. Thanks
nicet.org. fix that if you get a chance :) Clicked it and it sent me to the wrong page.
Congrats
Thanks! Is article 760 the only section I should be concerned with in the NEC 2011?
Apart from 760 you will also be required to look in Annex C for raceway sizing and possibly some questions from transformers article. but you should concentrate more on article 760.
250 and 760 and some of the charts in the back of nfpa 70
Do they allow xerox copies of NFPA 72 or do we have to purchase the book
I haven’t taken it but I have my CSA and the rule for testing is the same I believe; you can bring a xerox copy but it has to be bound, can’t be loose leaf or paper clipped
HI all
I am a beginner in the field of Fire alarm systems .can anyone recommend me a book / videos that gives me a basic understanding of the fire alarm systems from the basic / beginner level
Just read and understand that prints first, attention to detail
I work in low voltage and want to find out how to go about getting certified for fire alarms in the state of Texas. Would studying the proper books be enough to do so? I only have experience in structured cabling and access control
I would recommend you look at the State website and find out what the requirements are for there licensing. A test is more than likely required along with proof of experience.
👍👍👍👍👍
We are into Spring 2018. Are these books still good source of study for the Level I Fire Alarm test? I got both of them.
Jeremiah Diaz Yes, NICET will change books after October of 2018.
Thank you. So I got a couple of months before that dead line, huh? Thanks, again.
Thank you. The Level 1 test is open book, right?
Jeremiah Diaz yes, you can use NFPA 72 and nec for the test only
Thank you.

Is there an update on either of these books?
I took my nicet 1 about 2 years ago and I used newer books.
Someone said to me the NICET 1 is 90 percent OSHA stuff. is that true?
No, that is not true. It's probably 10 percent at most.
@@henrynazar5989 do you know how much of it is from the NEC? I can use the 72 pretty well but I'm still a little green with that one
@@troyareyes There are a good number of questions from NEC. If I were you, I would definitely get familiar with the NEC.
That's true. I took it and almost 90 % of the test is about OSHA
