Owned a 22RE in a single cab long bed 2 Wheel Dr. automatic people that know these engines can make them last mine is 23 years old still driving every day two head gaskets replaced both times was from overheating keep it cool keep it running these engines are beautiful beyond compare

what type oil is suitable for this machine please ??!!!
I have run Motorcraft 10W-30 part-synthetic 5:33 for years recently been using Valvoline 10W-30 but I do think the motor craft is better even though I feel no difference in the 2 oils. I will not use for synthetic These engines were not built for full synthetic oil

The rocker arms are not properly aligned with the valves use shims and make sure there centered on the valves or they will wear out fast I had to buy shims from LCE to center my rocker arms when I used an aftermarket cylinder head hope this helps

This washer is only installed if their running fuel injectors
This is a 22re=fuel injected
22r =carbuereted

@@JM8686 im doing a timing chain and a new cylinder head and new cam shaft on my 22r do you happen to know what the cam cap torque specs are ?

Would that missing washer cause my 22r to only run at full retard on the distributor at 0 degrees? I followed the lc engineering video and made sure the crank shaft position was at TDC 0 degrees with the cam dowel. TDC on compression stroke and the distributor was installed with the rotor pointing up at 12 o'clock and lined up the distributor bolt hole around around middle and as you push in the rotor with turn left and point towards the # 1 spark plug on the distributor cap. But mines is slightly in front of #1 unless I fully retard the distributor then it points directly at #1
I've tried going forward a tooth and backwards 1 tooth and she seems to run best at full retard at 0 degrees on the pulley.
Sometimes she's randomly will studder and back fire pop thru the 36 weber carburetor
You ever figure this issue out? I’m dealing with the same thing after doing a headgasket on my wheeler. Running a Weber as well
