This is so different to my pony club camp! I live in Australia and my pony club has two camps a year. Our camp is held at farms that our pony club board has found and asked the owners. Our camp is Saturday to Monday (long weekend). Everyone always comes late, we legit only have like 5 family's that come to camp which is all the older kids because the younger kids don't really come. First thing we do is find a paddock for our horse (some of us have a paddock we use every year) then get our horse settled in. No farrier checks, no vet checks. Here are horses don't need any vaccinations, the kids also sleep in a shearing shed right next to horses in the sheep yards. Our first ride is a hack out onto the farm land, we cross rivers, go through gates and all that. Some of us split up (we normally have two groups the relaxed group and fast group) from our group to go for a gallop along the hills. We also find some trees or logs and make jumps (no body protectors). One of our rides we also ride to a dame and go for a swim. We also have the station owners ride with us and their daughter, they also come over for some wine, beer and bbq around the fire. We've also started our annual cooking comp when we cook something that must contain a certain thing. And other games, we still have to feed and clean our horses yards epically before we leave. It's so much fun and we currently have a camp in the middle of no where on a farm. There's also a hill next to where we keep our horses that has a ton of dead trees we can go out and camp :) it's so weird how ours are so different. What country do you live in?
Sarah Mckendry This is in the UK and the Pony club has quite a lot of rules due to insurance reasons! Our camp is an eventing camp so each day we basically have a lesson and work on how we can improve. All the horses have to be checked as there are quite a lot (up to 40-50).
What do you suggest for riding nerves? I am going to a riding camp that I go to every year, but last year I wasn't able to do XC as my horse went lame. So I feel very out of the XC loop, once I get going I know I will be ok but I don't want to transmit my nerves onto Monty at the first portion of the lesson! If you have any tips let me know, great video by the way :)
I would recommend, if you can, hiring out your local Xcountry corse for an hour or go to a Xcountry clinic to get some practice in before hand so it I not too daunting for both of you if not you can always jump some logs on a hack. The key is not to be nervous which I know is difficult to say but if you go into a jump feeling confident your horse is more likely to feel confident too :) So I guess it is more mind over matter. A tip that really helps me is look up over a jump to where you want to go after rather than looking down at the jump (especially if it is a ditch as we all know monsters live down there aha!) I try looking at a tree for example while going over the jump as then your horse is more likely to be more happy going into a jump if they know where to go after. At my camp we had two sessions on the Xcountry course so if I am not sure about jumping a fence in our first session you can always come back to it the second time once you have built up your confidence. Sorry for the essay, I hope you both have a great time at your camp this year :D x
If you are nervous, you can get something called rescue remedy spray and you spray some under your tongue to make you less nervous. You can also get them in a gummy sweet form :)
My camp goes for 7 days and on the 7th day there is a gymkhana and they feed the horses for us day and night and they have a tack shed for our groups like right next to our stables it is awesome they also supply shavings for us aswell we sleep in sheds and it is about a 30meter walk to the stables and a 20 meter walk to the hall which we have lunch diner and breakfast also on Sunday at the end they have a massive presentation mounted with trophys and yeah it is so awesome
At my camp, you get there at 3 - 4 pm on Sunday and get out your pony straight away because your name and group is on your stable (giant tent stable 😂) so you go there earlier that day or the day before and put your things (wheel barrow, mucking out tools etc) and put in your bed and field (optional). When your horse is in their stable tent, you put in hay and that stuff. Then you take your tack and hat and body protector to be checked. By then it’s been an hour and half or so. When that’s done you take your tent, caravan or lorry to the parking area and set up your ‘home’. After that there’s free time for to play and say goodbye to parents. Then we have dinner and clean tack (😂😂) and swim, have evening entertainment and go to bed. The next morning you wake up,change, feed the ponies, muck out, refill hay and water. Then eat your breakfast. Collect tack, groom ,tack up and ride for 2 hours doing 2 different activities. Untack, eat lunch, tack up, ride for 2 hours. Untack, feed ponies, free time, dinner, clean tack, swim, evening entertainment, late night pony check in pjs then bed at 10 pm. This happens every day until the last day where it’s showing then presentation. What’s your pc camp like????
In my camp,u ride 4 times a day..... 😬😂 and theres only about 15 of us per week staying in like a lodge house thing and we get breakfast lunch and dinner and we can just go through the presses and stuff and make whatever we want 😂 I love camp so much!!!!!!
Loved this video!! So interesting to see what ur camp is like!! In my camp the first thing u do is take ur horse down😂 then bring him/her to any free stable and then get ur tack and bring it outside ur stable as u will be tacking up soon and then bring rugs and brushes and extra stuff u have. Then tack up and go to the main yard and wait for everybody to be ready and we head off to cross country. We ride twice a day. Although ur came seems soooooo much fun because we dont do any games and we dont get to stay the night☹️
lilpetchannel Thank you so much I love your channel btw and have subscribed for years ahah! I use iMovie to edit my videos (the newest update) so then I can put the clips over the top of me talking :D
I’m actually a little girl and I LOVE horses but I live in the city so I don’t have a horse but I can go to horse camps and YOU SAVED MY LIFE WITH THIS VIDIO THANK YOU SOO MUCH p.s. I love your channel 😍❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much for giving us all those tips and tricks I think I am going to have such an amazing time now 👍🐴 p.s say hi to Mickey and Casper for me💖
I get why you do the stable first and then the horse, but not the tack, especially if it is a warm day the horse will get hot in the trailer... and what do they do if they have a horse that doesn't like to stay in the trailer when it is still? I've come across several horses that start getting antsy or worse when the trailer stops, and you have to get them off right away or they will start climbing the walls or even rearing over the front partition.
I have my 3 day pony camp at my local stables tomorrow! I'm so excited! P.S I recently got my first pony so it will be a great time to bond with her😊💖💖
Haha I live in nz and we don't even need show clothes for the camp show! I use them anyway, but we have turnout, and there are no gear checks, and the camp provides ponies if you don't have one, and everyone's favorite horse to borrow, is MOOSE! He is a majestic clydesdale and he is so FLUFFY! Everyone loves Mr. Moosey 😂
Hi, I go to a riding stables once a fortnight and am really interested in going to a camp. However my big dilemma is that we don't have the money to loan a pony for at all long, can you borrow any Ponies owned by the riding stables or something to compromise instead as I feel like I know what to do, but just don't have the main thing! Thank you for all your help and advice on camp, I would never have guessed all of that!!☺️
i just joined pony club and haven't been to any events yet and I'm going to the camp so this really put my mind at ease because i was quite nervous about being not experienced enough or not knowing anyone there. So thank you so much for this video xxxxxxxxxxx
in my camp we have to stay in tents ! your so lucky to have indoor dorms ! and yeah yours is kind of the same but our horses go out in fields instead :)
Silver Equine Ahhhh I know the struggles of nonhorsey parents! I hope you have fab time at your camp and unfortunately I will not have any pretty wallpaper in my new bedroom when we move due to the shapes of the walls but I will be glad to be closer to the horses :D
Yep glad you get me haha. You too have fun and I know myself it's so much easier when you live with your horses you will aprpeciate not having to walk for ever haha
Hii Esme! I'm going to PonyClub Camp in mid January and I'm super nervous about it. I've just moved to the area a few months ago and I also just got my first horse! (He's a rescue) he isn't ready for camp yet so I'm taking this mare that I am free leasing until April. She was used as a lesson horse but the barn she was at shut down so she had to find a new home. She's been a lot more nervous than my rescue was when I first brought him home. (I keep them at my house) I feel like when I bring her to camp she'll be really nervous and I don't want anything to happen. Also, do you go on trail rides at camp? Because I tried to walk her on a trail and she was quite nervous. Do you have any tips?? Thank you so much! xxx
In the way of helmets, do you have to wear a skull cap with silks (for the sake of cross country)? *Or is it okay to wear a fixed cap? Just double checking
Omg you are the best and so is Casper you guys are great together I've been following you for over a year and you are amazing I also have a horse his name is Holly wood but we call him woody for short he is a quarter horse his color is dun he is my picture. He's amazing. But so are you.
Thank you so much for this video! I have my pony club camp in a week and I'm really excited! Though, I'm also sad because I might not be able to bring my own horse since he is lame and we will have two lessons a day so he won't be ready for that. 🙁
You are a amazing jumper and your horse is fantastic I wish I could have a saddle pad but you are so lucky and amazing thanks for being a great influence
Could you do a giveaway please:} And could you do a video about how to jump , thanks for noticing me it means alot keep going and keep the hard work up i am pretty sure your horses and donkeys get a lot of love because your a fabulous owner
Eadie Hall I might not be able to as I am getting all the things I need for camp at Hicksted on the 29th :/ as my camp is not till the middle of August!
i am considering doing camp next year but im not to sure as i have never done xc on my horse before and she can only jump upto 70cm i have owned her a year she is a TB ex flat racer any advise (located in uk)
omg our camps are so different!! at mine you don’t even need a loan horse. we use the riding school horses and we sleep in the stables (there carpeted and washed before aha) and it’s so different cuz obviously you don’t have your own horse!
I have a few questions What do you need to do to get into the camp? Like do you have to do lessons with the pony club to do the camp? I’m 13 would I be in jr. Camp or senior camp? Is there a test to see your skills before you go? My horse is an Icelandic so he is a little smaller than other horses is that ok? Is it too late to join the camp at 13? I would really appreciate it if you answer these! 😊
at my riding school, we have five camps a year each one lasting 6 days and five nights, we ride up to three or four times a day and we sleep in cute cabins that can fit up to eight people in each and there are four cabins its so fun
Hi Esme I really want to got to camp but I d'ont have a horse or tack or anything as I ride with my local riding school for 5 years now what would be your advice
Hi Esme, In 2020 you will get a new pony called Joey who is the cutest thing! there will be a lockdown and you will have so long to bond with him! Ps you will be a full time you tuber
This video was a while ago and i really want to go to camp (Its a bit weird, but i ride at your old stables i found out in ur riding story,. Where you first learnt to ride) I full loan a pony named Shadow, But he is Wayyyy to old. Recently he has got liver disease. And i dont know if he will be retiring or not.. I have no idea what to do. I dont want to stop loaning shadow till he retires as i love him so much. And cant imagine riding another pony while somebody else loans him.. :( I want to do bigger things and i feel held back by shadow. Any tips?
We have mini camp 3 days no stay over, main camp 5 day stay over and 16+ camp🐴it's my first year I'm so excited but u said we can't get them out of the trailer first😩my pony rears in the trailer when he is left😤so naughty😂can I get him out just to tie him up? Ours stay out do u think they would make us poo pick if so do still need to take a wheelbarrow? We also can't keep our Lorry and trailers there I have no idea whe the tack goes🤔😂🐴xx
Holley Van Heerden It depends on your Ponyclub. Most people are at least 12 for my senior camp. You should be able to jump around 70-80cm confidently :)
It depends on the camp or rider ability. There is usually no set age, but at my first senior camp, most people were at least about 12, but I did it at age 10, but I had also been doing junior camps since I was 4 with my wonderful but naughty welshie Rom.
At my junior horse camp that is what we call it and its a week long and decided to leave my tack at my house so I got there later not a god first impression. the first cross country I did with snowflake she bucked me off and I fell in the water. My parents are not horsey.
I couldn't keep my pony in a stable for a week! He goes crazy if he gets left in even for one night! Like kicking the stable trying to jump out and just pacing about. He hates it so much so we keep him in a field all year round
JESSICA Moo Our horses are out 24/7 too with a field shelter that they can go in if it rains. Unfortunately we do have to put ours in only at night in the winter so they don't get mud fever as it gets very boggy with all the rain. Before we got Casper he was in a stable a lot so he is quite used to them. The horses get quite tried at camp as they are ridden twice a day so he does not seem to mind too much as well as being hand grazed multiple times a day :)
This Esme yeh at least your horses don't seem to mind it. Yesterday my horse was brought in for two hours to wait to get his shoes done and there is now a dent in that door! I think it's something to do with his past because he is a rescue. He gets really anxious and stressed out in a stall or the horse trailer and even if there is too many people around him. He is just a very sensitive horse but I love him to the moon and back and wouldn't change him for the world!💞
Where I ride doesn't do pony club which is really annoying as I really wanna do more shows but I can't as the only shows nearby are all 1.20m and above when I only jump 0.90 😂😰💕🐴🦄
_Pip. Equine That is a shame :( If there is not a pony club there might be a riding club? If not you can always hire out you local arena (if it is not too expensive) and put the jumps to your preferred height then you get to ride more rather than just a round which is only a few minutes long! :D
On Saturday I’m going to my first pony camp I’m literally soooooo nervous cause my horse hasn’t jumped in ages and there’s loads of jumping in pony club😩😥
You literally saved my life with this video THANK YOUUUUU x
Ahaha you're welcome Maisy, I hope you have a great time at your camp :D XX
This Esme is there any horse camps in ohio for jumping
hi i was just wondering how much it costs to go to camp because i was hoping to give it a try if i can afford it xx
PRETTYUNICORN 132 The price depends on what camp you go to and how long it is.
Katherine Hauser I don't know as I don't live in the US :( you will have to google it ;)

Do you think you could do like a property tour, or would that be to “exposing” and I love you and your channel so so much! 💕♥️💕♥️💕♥️💕♥️💕
Are there horses there if you dont loan or own?
How do you loan a pony or horse do they give a horse or pony or do you have to go somewhere else to do that?
Keilana Teeken you loan a horse on your own accord, you can loan horses from sites like Pre-loved or whatever
In my camp the stables just dedicate a horse there to each person
Omg you have been going to pony camp since I was 3!! 💕😂
When can you start Pony Camp??? P.s. Love your vids, I am subbed, bell on and liked the video and commented down below.
omg our camps are so different!! at mine you don’t even need a loan horse. we use the riding school horses and we sleep in the stables (there carpeted and washed before aha) and it’s so different cuz obviously you don’t have your own horse!

Lilac Heart yes of course it’s just called pony club because it is for young riders xx
We don't have pony clubs here actually.. but this was useful information honestly
I have a few questions
What do you need to do to get into the camp? Like do you have to do lessons with the pony club to do the camp?
I’m 13 would I be in jr. Camp or senior camp?
Is there a test to see your skills before you go?
My horse is an Icelandic so he is a little smaller than other horses is that ok?
Is it too late to join the camp at 13?
I would really appreciate it if you answer these! 😊
7 months late but...
•I’m assuming junior
•no idea
•as long as you are the right weight it’s fine
•Pony club is for up to 25 year olds
Do u get given a room or do u pick
I am in junior camp but it is the same as your senior camp. We stay for a week at the racecourse in the jockey dorms.
Haha watching this in 2022! You have progressed so much since 2017 ha
if you don't have your own horse do you still have to bring all the tack?
at my riding school, we have five camps a year each one lasting 6 days and five nights, we ride up to three or four times a day and we sleep in cute cabins that can fit up to eight people in each and there are four cabins its so fun
Olivia van Grootel Wow you ride a lot at your camp! I hope you have a great time :)
Hi Esme I really want to got to camp but I d'ont have a horse or tack or anything as I ride with my local riding school for 5 years now what would be your advice
How old do you have to be to go to junior camp because I live in the uk and I only got to a riding school
And I don’t have my own pony
I know that you probably won't see this, but where did you get your tack box. Can you guys like this so she can see, or respond if you know

Any tips?

BouncingBunnies Business awww ahah! Have fun! :D
+This Esme thank you ! I hope you have fun too 💜x
what is the age for junior and for senior or is it the level of riding? 🐴❤
Jackie G At my camp you have to be 12 they will not let anyone any younger go x
This Esme Oh, I guess every camp is different :) I also did the lowest level ride when I was 10 (I am 13 now).
Do you have to have your own horse?
Natasha Taylor she has 2
she said in the video
Natasha Taylor you don’t she said in the video
Do u know if they have pony club I the U.S?
Your so PRETTY!! I love ur vids ☺️
I know this is really late but what do u do if u only jump very small like 20 -30 cm
We get tack rooms for each ride at my camp
He is just a very sensitive horse but I love him to the moon and back and wouldn't change him for the world!💞
Jessica Pattison rip
You are the best I watch you all night and day long I love you Esme
Omg I’m going to camp this year!! It’s in Lanark!!
This really helped me!! Thanks!!!!!!

A bit like Pgl but horses I love that! It would be perfect for me.❤
Could you do a daily routine with the Casper, nickel and the donkeys?☺
Bonnie Mitchell whose nickel,
it’s Micky lol
@@roisinc8299 It's Mickey!
You’re my favorite channel
Please do a video on how to overcome horseriding fears !
Do u only camp at senior camp
Thanks I needed this video somemuch
Wow I can’t spell lol
