Why is the seat position so far back? Is it to do with weight distribution ? Or just because of the shape of the tub/frame hes sat in?

Weight Distribution, In most race series even the lower ones like BTCC and Ginetta the driver sits as far centre and as low as possible and the wheel and pedals are adjusted to reach
