Help me save Ruston 165 No.281266 from being sent to SCRAP

Today I'm asking for your help once again.
281266 remains unsold this week, and so I am attempting to stop it from going to the scrapyard.

We all knew this was coming, my bet is by 2027 LMM will have the largest stockpile of 'Running Rustons' in the country.

Yes. It’s amazing. I only could give like 10 pounds, sadly could not afford more at the momen. But I’ve seen ppl in the list give over 1000 pounds in one go. I’m glad there is rich ppl that’s generous with their funds. :)

The personnel manger donated her to a local museum and paid transport himself
She is fully restored and looks great

The blue wheels and red driving rods, green body. All it needs is a black and yellow warning stripe pattern on the walking boards/cabin and (in my humble opinion) the name "Chameleon"!

Well that was easy. The donations were already at 136% by the time I watched this video, but that didn't stop me donating as well. What a pleasure to be part of this. Don't feel awkward Lawrie. We wouldn't be watching your channel if we didn't like saving old railway stuff.

It is always makes me happy to see people donating to save locomotives. In the United States we recently saved an old Boston and Maine switcher engine that was lined up for the scrapper’s yard. 1127 to be exact.

Hey Lawrie. There's this small little railway society near me. I think it would be cool for you to check out as it has a lot of history and I can see that it needs a bit of work. The railway is called the Dollgarog Railway Socitety. Like I say it very small but holds a lot of history. Thanks Geth.

Having helped out on the Ruston at chasewater I would rip out all the old air pipe work and start again check all the valves for bad seals and grit and missing parts.Fit an in line air filter and lubricator before it feeds any parts ours is mounted to the bulkhead , it was a big team effort to turn it round in a few months.All the best.

Always a real shame when a working locomotive is left neglected or scrapped. Really hope that this Ruston 165 gets to park next to his rusty sibling before long as motivation for turning that hunk-o'-rust into another functioning Ruston :)

Or even better something like Lady of Legend which shook the walls so voilently in Watchet station last year I honestly wondered if they would stay up.
We have had a issue with the transmission on our Ruston at the Bewdley yard at the Severn Valley Railway last year. I don't know if it was the same fault as this one but it was fixed.
When restored it will look great. It would be fun to see all the sold to British Sugar meet up together.

I drove a similar one in Belgium, it was a 165 DS, but had the exhaust was in the front. It was modified tough because thet cut of the round roof and replaced it with a flat roof. Was a 4 gear mechanical engine, with a beautiful diesel engine with wick lubricated valve rocker arms. That little petrol engine with compressor to get the air pressure up for starting (300 psi), shure was a little bitch to get going in the winter! Ahh memories.....

Our own British sugar 165 is a nice loco to drive but can be quite loud Ear defenders may be a good option. 5:51

Saw this video 8 minutes after release. In the time it took me to donate, the total increased by 6%, from 17% to 23%. At that rate, this will be funded in about 45 minutes.
I feel like at some point though, you're gonna have to get all 3 together and run a Ruston triple header! (yes, I realize how impractical that'd be.....)
