I was a actually smart when I tried to "run away" as a kid. I always planned it out: pack all the stuff I needed, walk to the village right next to mine, which was a mile or so, and find someone to live with. But I never actually did it because I loved my parents way too much.
I remember one time when I was about 8 I took a heavy duty sleeping bag, food, clothes, shoes, matches, and some money to run away forever. I lived in the middle of nowhere and I was so hurt angry that I was determined to disappear. So I walked four miles away from my house and got picked up by an older farmer. He was super nice and brought me to his house until I calmed down. He told me a story about how his sister ran away at thirteen and was murdered less than a week away from home. Turned me off of running away for a while. I will never forget his kindness and wisdom. He drove me home before my parents had returned from their jobs and I never saw him again. Sometimes the wisdom and kindness of strangers is all anyone needs.

I left barefoot, walked around the block with my suitcase packed with bananas and ‘Dalmy’ (my stuff Dalmatian) , and of course I cried the whole time. I eventually gave up and walked home.

I remember writing in a journal we needed blankets, oranges and apples for food, and we even had a place picked out that sheltered us from the rain and was sort of hidden. My younger sisters did this. It was 2 of the oldest, carrying the 2 younger ones. They made it one block before being picked up by police. They had a awesome day and was super happy when they came back with balloons and lollipops.
i freaking bailed, made half of a stick and leaf tent, used a a lighter from an abandoned druggie house to start a small fire grabbed a littered pickle jar and boiled some water from a creek. i snacked on beauty berries and then in morning i was mauled by mosquitos annnnd i was tired despite geting a full 8 hour sleep. turns out the police were looking for me but since i was so far into the woods and thick brush (had to crawl through rabbit trails for about a quarter mile) nobody found me 🤣 mmm good times.

My grandparents told me a story of when my uncle was 3 he wanted "Kentucky Chicken". They said no, so he decided he would walk there. The thing is they lived on a farm back then 15 minutes outside of down when driving. They basically picked him up at the end of the driveway lol
