    I grew up watching Bigfoot jump airplanes and busses. Over the years they got bigger and crazier. These trucks went from being built using parts from tractors to now having multimillion dollar shops to build most of the parts. It's crazy to think people spend a million dollars to build a truck for one show (sometimes more, sometimes less).
    It is very impressive seeing them in person. Definitely something to do for the bucket list!

    There’s so many great monster truck videos (especially “monster jam greatest save”) but truly, there is NOTHING comparable to watching it in person. It’s not so much how loud the trucks are but just how much you feel the engines, entirely through your, spine, soul, etc

    I actually worked on and was part of the original "Big Foot" Monster Truck Team, we had 7 Big Foots at the time. Four to five at anytime out at Monster Truck Events pretty much year round. Keep in mind there are multiple type of events and what you are seeing is the solo trick runs(Albeit most of those are trucks at the end of their time period just sending it). There is also head to races which can be pretty fun to watch. There are other more novel events like car/bus jumping, etc.

  • @MelNel5
    @MelNel5 Місяць тому +6

    It is very loud in the arena, and the fuel smell is thick. Grave Digger is one of the favorites. Son of a Grave Digger is another. There are many. This appears to be a small show. The flips are cool, and we’ve seen double flips! The bodies are thin, and break away when really wrecked.
    Good reaction Recky.

    Monster trucks are a continuation of good ole boys with farm trucks putting bigger engines and taller tires until they got to these beasts. They used to do out and back 1 lap races, car crunches and it grew into the ridiculous freestyle stuff they do to this day. When I saw these as a kid in the late 80's it was magical At one point, they also brought around a tractor trailer sized robot dinosaur that would "eat" cars lol. .

  • @timmccoy4875

    "Monster trucks' basically started from a movie called " Take this job and shove it" that had the first "Monster Truck" that was eventually named Big Foot. A sport grew from this movie now know as Monster Jam. First, the trucks just drove over other cars and crushed them. Now they drive for points and at the end is freestyle, where they try to get more air, front flips, back flips, wheelies, etc.

    @TylerTheBoss Місяць тому

    Yes, they sell ear plugs and over-ear protection. They have different events, such as racing or freestyle. Freestyle is where they have a time limit to hit as many jumps as possible, and/or tricks. Freestyle is judged and each Monster Truck receives a score.

  • @codypaul2435
    @codypaul2435 27 днів тому

    Hey man! Love to see you’re interested in Monster Jam. I grew up going to these events with my family, so I know a lot about what’s happening here. This comment is going to be a little bit of a novel.
    4:17 While Monster Jam is a little different than when I was growing up, there are generally two main events. Racing and freestyle. Racing is exactly what it sounds like. Trucks race two at a time in a bracket style tournament until there’s ultimately a winner. Freestyle is when they come out one at a time and tear it up. They are allotted a certain amount of time (90 seconds when I was attending the events), and at the end, judges score the performance. They’re scored on things like wow factor, the pace of the run (runs that are faster, more intense, and on the “ragged edge” score more), and whether or not they used all the time allotted to them. If the truck breaks or flips over before the end of the time, the run is cut short. In a lot of these clips, they aren’t using all the time given to them, so they aren’t going to score very high. Doesn’t mean the crowd doesn’t love it though.
    9:49 Monster Jam is fun for all ages, but it’s certainly targeted towards kids. Most kiddos will have a favorite truck rather than a favorite driver. I remember when I was a kid I had my favorite trucks, but as I grew older, I started to learn more about the drivers and how talented they all are.
    Something else to note about Monster Jam is that while there is a competition going on, their main goal is to put on a fun show for the crowd. It’s more of a show rather than a competition. There are multiple Monster Jam events happening every weekend. The more popular trucks like Grave Digger and Maximum Destruction have multiple trucks touring at once because the demand is high to see those trucks at events. This means that there are multiple drivers for one specific truck. I think at one point in time there were at least five-ten Grave Diggers touring the US.
    Also, I watched most of these clips live in person! It’s amazing to see such a large machine hang in the air for so long. Definitely check out a MJ event if you’re in the US. Super fun, and all the drivers are very kind people that will interact with the crowd, sign autographs, and answer any questions that you may have.

    14:05 They are extremely loud, and you can even feel them rumbling the ground. Hearing protection isn’t a bad idea.

However that happening doesn’t really stop these drivers from letting loose during their tricks, hell even if tires are flat these drivers will still try to do jumps or even do donuts

    Those are big toys for crazy boys. I've been to the MONSTER JAM. It's so fun to watch. There are 7 Grave Diggers that tour the US.

    Each team has sponsers and sells merch, and the sport itself has sponsers and sells merch. If the sport relied on just ticket sales and merch sales to pay drivers, they wouldn't last a year in business. It's a legit racket that gets sponsers eyeball attention while the sport gets enough money to help teams to keep going. NASCAR does the same thing. Each car in NASCAR costs around $750,000 each. And each week there's multiple wrecks. That's alot of cars and trucks heading to the scrapyards 😂

    Dennis Anderson of Grave Digger and Tom Meents of Maximum Destruction were some of the nuttiest drives out there, legendary drivers. Bigfoot started it all though.

    Now go look up mud bogging with 4 wheeler trucks. A really good one is Hog Waller in Palatka Florida or any mud bogging they're down in the mud on the mud bogging ones!!
