This is a very common complaint and it is almost only ever said by people that have never been in any kind of combat with allies in close quarters. The only time you can really gang up on someone is if one person has already started to grapple them. THEN you can all move in because your target isnt moving all over causing you to hit your friends.
I get that racism exists even in a fantasy world, because people are scum and all that. What I don't understand is, why does everyone go picking fights with the physically superior, no nonsense, monster hunting race of people that have no problem spilling blood? Especially someone that dispatched a whole squad of mercs in less than a minute?
I love how Geralt pauses with Renfri every time he proves his superiority. You got Geralt who stops because he hesistates and doesn't want to kill her, and you got Renfri who stops because she can't believe how outmatched she is.
@@johnproctor6438 I saw both of those things being a possiblity, but I also saw her hesitating as though she actually is hoping he'll give way and join her cause. Deluded as that hope was, I think she truly liked him like he liked her, maybe not in a deep or intimate sense, but in a sense of "you're competent, I respect you and I like your body, so maybe we could be more." So she kept hesitating to give him a chance to stop and he kept trying to show her that there was only one outcome to this fight, just as he said before the fight itself.
@@maggiem6209 I’m not sure I agree with you on that. She cut him several times in order to wear him down, and finish the fight with her as the victor. He was the one hesitating on dealing a killing blow. He didn’t want to fight her to begin with, but once a fatal fight starts, there’s only one end to it. They both knew what was going to happen, but he didn’t want to do it. She forced him to, and she knew she wouldn’t be able to beat him. This is what true rage and hatred does to a person.
One thing I absolutely loved about this, was how they used each part of the sword. Geralt used the blade, cross piece and hilt all at different times to block, deflect, or redirect stikes. Exactly how you're supposed to. "The blade isn't the only part of a sword"-Kingdom of Heaven.
That's actually the same in the book, and it's a deep psychological issue as Geralt himself is not sure if it's actual "feelings" or more of a survival instinct that makes him take care of his social needs, like hunger, thirst and sleep. It all comes down to the idea "Witchers have no emotions" which is supposedly the truth, yet impossible to confirm. But if all the rest is true, why would this be the one lie in the mix ? And that's how you get most of Geralt psychological conundrums.
Biology would argue that, but who knows with magical people. Maybe witches designed them this way, since they have those needs, but can't have kids. @thibautisserant

@@kahuna2588 I like to try to utilize all of my Signs. I'll even use Yrden traps around large groups of humans to slow their attacks down, giving me more time to figure out how I want to maneuver and dance around 9 people. Quen is helpful when your opponents have insane attack power, and Aard is great for pushing away large numbers of enemies/knocking them down to grant yourself some breathing room. You can also upgrade Aard to deal damage to people with the shockwave, and even freeze enemies in ice by making the shockwave super cold so that's nice too. I use Igni and Axii in sort of the same fashion: as a means to put the enemy under a state which renders them defenseless and unable to attack. Igni is obviously much better for crowd control, but doesn't affect shield thugs unless you break their defense first, or monsters with armor like Axii can.
A lot of fans are now signing a petition to have the crappy showrunners removed and that's probably why Henry is no more. They think they can just do whatever with a story we deeply love, they think they can milk us for money by replacing the one we like, they don't give a damn about the wishes and feelings of their own fans, but in the end they won't collide with nothing but hatred for what they've done... I am so pleased that not only does Geralt's choreography really do the spirit of the games and books justice, but they gave Renfri just as much grit and formidably. She was a naturally gifted fighter (like many of the women under the "Curse" of Black Sun) and the showrunners made that really clear. In fact, one of the saddest things about the story of Renfri's life is that she had so much potential, had they not turned her into the monster they wanted to believe she was.

yeah, it's sort of self fullfilling prophecy. 1 Prophecy says "those girl will be beasts" 2 People are like "get the beasts torture beasts, exterminate them!!!" without even checking if it's even the truth 3 the girls are trapped in this situation where no matter what, even if they try to be good, they are still treated like rabid cornered monster, so they might as well behave like one and at least get somewhere. Its the prophecy itself that's the real curse, it was probably even created to steer the crowd by people in power to have clear hands as the others do the dirty job cause of superstition. This whole story isn't just a fantasy. It's sociological and psychological analysis of human beings on a personal and crowd level.

I love this fight with Renfri, mostly because you can tell she's good. She's really damn good, but Geralt makes a point of it in the fight to show her that he's easily keeping pace and could take her apart, but doesn't want to.
I saw some UA-camrs that where complaining about her technique. What everybody forgets is that she wasn't trained by a swordmaster. She was abandoned in the woods, so she basically taught herself. Dump anybody in the woods, tell them to "learn how to fight with a sword" and you are gonna see some pretty off the wall shit.

I don't know how you play this boring build. I use alchemy only build, with "euphoria", "metamorphosis" or "poisonous skin", wearing full Manticore Set. Or hybrid "bomber x crossbow" with "cat eyes" mutation. First build enhances damage of basic attacks and sighns, and with 3-4 brews makes Geralt even more deadly or tough. And the second one... welp, it's just working shooting-range build. And it has AoE and DoT development.
When he cut's through the first man's head the power it took to cut through his skull so effortlessly you'd think the rest of them would lay down their arms and just admit it's pointless trying to fight Gerald
Well that could be a little problem. Sword fights were much shorter than we think today. If you want to see a good long medieval swordfight, check Adorea.
The fight scene when they were at the end of the dragon hunt was decent, as was the brawl at the queens palace when that "hedghog" knight came for her daughter. But I do agree, that none of the fights touched how well the choreography of this fight was done.
I think there was much more bad in all this. They turned fantastic novels into a mediocre TV show. They changed every short story to make it objectively worse, cut out the most important part of the entire story (Ciri and Geralts first meeting), and rushed through the source material so carelessly, while also adding on a bunch of unnecessary stuff with Yennefer's character. The show writer wanted to make it her own story, but she's a significantly worse writer than Andrej Sapkowski so it didn't work at all. It is genuinely unforgivable as a fan of the books what they did with this show.
I just read the book " The Last Wish" and i noticed of how accurate this scene was. Even Renfri's height were as tall as Geralt which proves this scene is SUPERB.

The Last Wish is the only book that is adapted successfully. The other book was not well adapted and a lot of the themes seem to be glossed over. But considering it is a show with only 8 episodes. Trying to adapt 2 fairly sized books is basically impossible. The show is fine for what it is.
Actually, that music is Silver For Monsters, and only rarely occurs when fighting humans. This one is Steel for Humans. You might hear some other fight music as well during the game.
Well it's what he's paid for, idk if geralt would even let that guy retreat anyway, as he already dislikes him, and renfri pays him so if he runs he likely dies and if he stays he dies, at least geralt made it quick and also maybe he's valourous, perhaps like a viking, perhaps to die in battle is his greatest honour, who knows.

Important differences from the book. 1. They did actually attack him as one unit. Three of them broke rank at once but he was faster than all three of them and which only left 4. He used the market stalls to separate them and kill them off. 2. The bandits were well developed characters with backstories. The guy with the crossbow was supposed to be the toughest one and an elf. Who he was supposed to kill last. 3. Renfri’s fight didn’t last long at all. She made one simple mistake which allowed Geralt to undercut the artery inside her thigh. She didn’t even last 30 seconds 4. She never mentioned Ciri. She said, “Geralt, I’m cold. Hold me” as she was bleeding from her artery fast. Geralt stood away from her. When she finally bled out, a dagger fell from her hand. So she was going to kill him if he gave in to his humanity. This is important to his character because he’s still young here. This is where he starts to close off and become colder to other people.
You gotta respect the bravery of these level 7 thugs that heard the legendary banana tiger chant loud and clear yet still charged Geralt without a second thought.
To be honest, I would've switched the actresses who played Renfri and Triss. Edit: By switch, I mean the actress who played Renfri should play Triss and vice versa

I love how Geralt pauses with Renfri every time he proves his superiority. You got Geralt who stops because he hesistates and doesn't want to kill her, and you got Renfri who stops because she can't believe how outmatched she is.

Deluded as that hope was, I think she truly liked him like he liked her, maybe not in a deep or intimate sense, but in a sense of "you're competent, I respect you and I like your body, so maybe we could be more." So she kept hesitating to give him a chance to stop and he kept trying to show her that there was only one outcome to this fight, just as he said before the fight itself.

He was the one hesitating on dealing a killing blow. He didn’t want to fight her to begin with, but once a fatal fight starts, there’s only one end to it. They both knew what was going to happen, but he didn’t want to do it. She forced him to, and she knew she wouldn’t be able to beat him. This is what true rage and hatred does to a person.

One thing I absolutely loved about this, was how they used each part of the sword. Geralt used the blade, cross piece and hilt all at different times to block, deflect, or redirect stikes. Exactly how you're supposed to. "The blade isn't the only part of a sword"-Kingdom of Heaven.

That's actually the same in the book, and it's a deep psychological issue as Geralt himself is not sure if it's actual "feelings" or more of a survival instinct that makes him take care of his social needs, like hunger, thirst and sleep.
It all comes down to the idea "Witchers have no emotions" which is supposedly the truth, yet impossible to confirm. But if all the rest is true, why would this be the one lie in the mix ?
And that's how you get most of Geralt psychological conundrums.

I never used Aard in witcher 3, quen almost everytime, igni for the extra dam and axii on the shield dudes to one shot them.

@@kahuna2588 I like to try to utilize all of my Signs. I'll even use Yrden traps around large groups of humans to slow their attacks down, giving me more time to figure out how I want to maneuver and dance around 9 people. Quen is helpful when your opponents have insane attack power, and Aard is great for pushing away large numbers of enemies/knocking them down to grant yourself some breathing room. You can also upgrade Aard to deal damage to people with the shockwave, and even freeze enemies in ice by making the shockwave super cold so that's nice too. I use Igni and Axii in sort of the same fashion: as a means to put the enemy under a state which renders them defenseless and unable to attack. Igni is obviously much better for crowd control, but doesn't affect shield thugs unless you break their defense first, or monsters with armor like Axii can.

Music really changes how a scene feels
I am so pleased that not only does Geralt's choreography really do the spirit of the games and books justice, but they gave Renfri just as much grit and formidably. She was a naturally gifted fighter (like many of the women under the "Curse" of Black Sun) and the showrunners made that really clear. In fact, one of the saddest things about the story of Renfri's life is that she had so much potential, had they not turned her into the monster they wanted to believe she was.

3 the girls are trapped in this situation where no matter what, even if they try to be good, they are still treated like rabid cornered monster, so they might as well behave like one and at least get somewhere. Its the prophecy itself that's the real curse, it was probably even created to steer the crowd by people in power to have clear hands as the others do the dirty job cause of superstition.
This whole story isn't just a fantasy. It's sociological and psychological analysis of human beings on a personal and crowd level.

I saw some UA-camrs that where complaining about her technique. What everybody forgets is that she wasn't trained by a swordmaster. She was abandoned in the woods, so she basically taught herself. Dump anybody in the woods, tell them to "learn how to fight with a sword" and you are gonna see some pretty off the wall shit.

I don't know how you play this boring build. I use alchemy only build, with "euphoria", "metamorphosis" or "poisonous skin", wearing full Manticore Set. Or hybrid "bomber x crossbow" with "cat eyes" mutation. First build enhances damage of basic attacks and sighns, and with 3-4 brews makes Geralt even more deadly or tough.
And the second one... welp, it's just working shooting-range build. And it has AoE and DoT development.

The fight scene when they were at the end of the dragon hunt was decent, as was the brawl at the queens palace when that "hedghog" knight came for her daughter.
But I do agree, that none of the fights touched how well the choreography of this fight was done.
I think there was much more bad in all this. They turned fantastic novels into a mediocre TV show. They changed every short story to make it objectively worse, cut out the most important part of the entire story (Ciri and Geralts first meeting), and rushed through the source material so carelessly, while also adding on a bunch of unnecessary stuff with Yennefer's character. The show writer wanted to make it her own story, but she's a significantly worse writer than Andrej Sapkowski so it didn't work at all. It is genuinely unforgivable as a fan of the books what they did with this show.

The Last Wish is the only book that is adapted successfully. The other book was not well adapted and a lot of the themes seem to be glossed over. But considering it is a show with only 8 episodes. Trying to adapt 2 fairly sized books is basically impossible. The show is fine for what it is.

Important differences from the book.
1. They did actually attack him as one unit. Three of them broke rank at once but he was faster than all three of them and which only left 4. He used the market stalls to separate them and kill them off.
2. The bandits were well developed characters with backstories. The guy with the crossbow was supposed to be the toughest one and an elf. Who he was supposed to kill last.
3. Renfri’s fight didn’t last long at all. She made one simple mistake which allowed Geralt to undercut the artery inside her thigh. She didn’t even last 30 seconds
4. She never mentioned Ciri. She said, “Geralt, I’m cold. Hold me” as she was bleeding from her artery fast. Geralt stood away from her. When she finally bled out, a dagger fell from her hand. So she was going to kill him if he gave in to his humanity.
This is important to his character because he’s still young here. This is where he starts to close off and become colder to other people.

Why is this video so hard to find now? I'm guessing the show runner didn't like this was getting more views then the original fight. How about instead of being petty about it we learn and grow to do better? I'd love to see the imagination you guys could come up with incorporating music into the fights that intensify the scene.
