I was thinking the same thing. For all stringed instruments held in this fashion. We simultaneously get the fret fingering and the picking, whereas many instructional guitar videos superimpose a picture in picture.
Hey, Eugene, how's the mandolin going? No pressure, life gets crazy, i was just curious if you'd like to share how far you've gotten and what was the biggest hurdle as a beginner? 🤍🙏🕊
Honestly, I still have my mandolin but since have gotten back into guitar. I had played guitar for over thirty years but stopped due to depression. Now I am playing guitar regularly. I play a lot of the bluegrass and old-time style of music and it helps me relax and enjoy life. Mandolin is a fun instrument and I may play it again.
I live 789 km from Wuppertal but I would drive all the way there. I wish I could have but one lesson with this master. Thank you, a beginner such as me has lots of tips just by watching you play. And a beautiful instrument made by Alfred Woll I assume. Bravo.
It is very interesting to see the shift in the grip on the pick when she plays tremolo. She changes the slant that it meets the strings with. Using the pick kinda side ways.
Yes. It basically gives a sharper angle for the plectrum to hit the strong. I remember Paul Gilbert from Mr big talking about the exact same thing for faster picking
lovely ... I like it very much .. wanna ask you though ... I play an old acoustic wooden instrument without frets and I use a soft pick .. is the pick you're using soft or hard plastic? thank you.
Is this is a German, Greek, or a Baroque mandolin? How does one get a mellow sound such as this on any mandolin or is it specific to this bowl back style?
I’m fascinated by Caterina’s picking technique, particularly how she plays mainly flat against the strings then switches quickly to an angle to do tremolo. Quite different from bluegrassers - we tend to keep the angle all the time. I guess it’s partly to do with the shape of the pick.
И я тоже вас приветствую! Даже больше чем Alexander Nigel. Катерина вы думаете что играете на инструменте из дерева и струн, но на самом деле на душе моей играете как полноценный владетель!
Does anyone know where I can buy a new bowl back mandolin? I have an f5 but I want a bowl back but I can only find ancient second hand ones online not any new or decent condition mandos

Brilliant camera angle - player's eye view!

If you look closely enough there is a mandolin
It’s got a teardrop shape so it’s technically in the lute family
The lute didn't die, it just evolved into guitar and mandolin (:
That’s why guitar repair techs are called Luthiers. It refers to the lute. 😬
The rhythm is not well.
Sorry but this is not a lesson, it's a performance!
Indeed, this is just the performance part. The full lesson available for her students online at ArtistWorks also contains her teaching the piece.
She should be selling her teaching methods not her performance. Wrong marketing approach. (BTW this advice is free of charge.)
be sure to sign up for her sample lessons at the link!
My_Two_Cents It never even says it's a lesson...
