You talked about an envelope cash system within your bank, do you mean having separate accounts for certain budget categories? It would be amazing and so helpful if you did a video on how you budget. It's so interesting hearing more about your insights on building a house! My friend and I are sitting here watching it and she just mentioned how when you were building, how Ellie and Bonnie said to sweep out and clean the tubs and stuff so when screws and dirt get in there, it doesn't scratch it! She wants to build a house and said she has that written down to keep in mind hahaha

Us too. Our oldest is 6, youngest 4. Neither of them have ever had soda, they really don't ask or want to try it. Though we don't drink it much either. It's in the house but we maybe have one or two during the whole week.
As if Gatorade was any better... the same sugary unnecessary stuff, just without the carbonation
I called that wet cabinet issue when the house was being built and people jumped me for it. It definitely needed a half wall at the least, turns out I was right...I was vindicated, lol ;)

I know they upload everyday and you would think that would be enough for me but I still can't get enough. I have been watching since they were filming in their small apartment trying to conceive Jackson. I love this family so much.
Ellie and Jared are the most inspirational people I know. I have watched them from day one and I still watch them every day! My biggest dream is to meet them one day and let them know the huge impact they have had on my life. You guys are the best!

Hey Ellie and Jared! I moved into my house almost two years ago and the house took about 3 years to build. I live in California and it was due to rain and last week we started to change our flooring from carpet to wood and we’ve realized that there are some ditches in the floor because of the rain. That has made the process longer.. I love you guys!
We just pulled up 38 yr old carpet and lay down laminate wood flooring, we love it. It's easy to clean, my husband got me the shark vacuum for hard wood floors and the dogs nails do''nt hurt the flooring at all.we have a 14 yr old Chihuahua, and 2 yr old Jack Russell and Chihuahua mix, and 1yr old black lab . Love you guys Xoxo and God bless you always .

I started watching when you moved in to your house last year and I’ve loved every vlog since!! It’s so refreshing how humble you both are❤️
In my opinion the houses in the US should be made out of brick instead of wood because brick houses are more insulated that wooden houses. I mean in the summer you have to use the AC because it gets so hot and in the winter you have to heat the house because it gets so cold. With a brick house you would sitll have to use the heat and the AC but not as much. It would be much better for the enviroment.
When calvin walked in thats the only thing i could focus on! 😃😃
When my college was having one of our dorm halls renovated last year, the kiln that was making the bricks for the project was struck by lightning and that puttje project behind like a whole month. It was crazy! That combined with the unexpected dumping of 2-2.5 feet of snow last year set the project back so we couldn't move in until beginning of March.
i hope you guys continue to throw some of these sit down videos into your feed in the future. i think we’ve all been loving these!
We are getting resilient floor planks in our new house because of our golden. They hold up much better with pets and they are beautiful.

It's always funny for me to hear in each vlog how almost all the Griffith's girls (Rubby, Bonnie and Ellie, except Julie) always say "MY, MY, MY!", for example: "My house, my car, my room" even though Kevin, Joel and Jared are sitting by them at that moment. 😂

Becky If you can't stand them, then why are you on here?? There is nothing wrong with getting new things. Especially when you work hard like they do. Do you really think the Griffith girls don't clean or cook? How do you think their houses are spotless. Joel has even said how hard Bonnie works to keep their house spotless. 🖐 get out of her with your negativity!

Ellie, for the sink area to cut the kids hair you could plumb one in that storage area on the other side of the wall where the future kitchenette could be. Put a chair in there, mirror and such. That would be a good space.

Here in the UK our houses are brick. The kitchenette idea for when the kids are older is such an awesome idea. I'm sure you'll all enjoy that. Yes, your friend is super talented, it's a gorgeous painting! And your house is absolutely gorgeous! I love how you've really personalised it & made it your own style! And I'm sure the kids will spend more time down in the playroom as they get older.

If you do a more matte coating on the floor (instead of shiny) then it will show less scratches. I have a husky mix and it has saved our floors.

My dad was from central Utah. I have such fond memories of thanksgivings and summers with my cousins, aunt, and gram. The mountains are the best. New Zealand's south island is so beautiful, I want to go again and stay forever. You've got to go and film there! There's just something about San Diego that I just can't leave, though.

You could still put a small counter in the garage where you can put a sink and also set your hair cutting chair there. Then you would have cabinets for your hair cutting supplies too!

the house is a dream, and it's so great to hear about how much y'all have planned for everything in advance! that's the way i try to live my life, and since i'm still in college (aka haven't made too many big decisions!) it's really amazing to hear about how that philosophy plays out :)
My aunt and uncle's house (they're in Michigan) had a laundry room that led out to the back yard pool, and it had a deep washing tub ..... and beside the tub was a toilet. So when I saw that you did that in your house, I got excited.

I think the "my" just come naturally sometimes. We don't have any kids yet but we are in the baby fever phase, and especially me, talk about it all the time. Sometimes I say "my kids" or "My saving account" because they ARE mine, they're also hers but they're mine too. It's 50 50. Most of the time i notice it on time and i correct to "ours" or "the".

I’d be interested to know why their dining room is quite small for such a large home. I understand not wanting a “formal dining room” but I would have just assumed a larger space for having company over often.

There is a like portable ping pong set that expands to fit over any table and it comes with a ball and two paddles. You could get a simple card table to be able to play with it and put it back up when you are done with it! Good compromise
I like the house, but I feel as if you need a formal dining space instead of a nook. You have a big enough back yard to build onto the house. That's just me though

Love your house and the decor. Like that you have the ensuite bathroom in your bedroom and the walking closet next to it. It makes it all seem so much bigger and also that your house is so open. Only thing that you should do is to put big sliding doors in your kitchen out to your backyard behind the kitchen table that would be great to open them up in the summer. The downstairs is amazing to. Can't wait to see how you are gonna decorate for christmas! Love your vlog all the way from sweden 🎄 ☺

After living in South Africa for all my life (19 years) my family made the decision to move to New Zealand. Leaving behind loved ones (family especially) and our beautiful home was the hardest thing we've ever done. New Zealand is a beautiful country full of new experiences and a very welcoming culture but it can be so much harder to adjust when you have no family around. Our ward at church has slowly started becoming our family too which has helped a lot. Definitely come visit, and take opportunities and adventures whenever you can to travel and explore but OH MY GOSH I need to emphasise that moving so far away from life as you know it is HARD so yeah, just a lil advice seed :) p.s your approach to marriage and decisions is exactly how i plan to have it one day, thank you!
