Ollie is fine since that Crutch is ok'ish. But bets are off on Kroni (Super high risk and reward, perma stat boost with periodic ability to have small safe spots? That's a busted combo package). Kiara is another, time her ult properly and you can manage some close calls, but isn't versatile as Ollie
Odd tidbit regarding HP: The first edition of D&D, the socalled "little brown books", stated that HP was an abstraction of various things such as luck and near-misses, rather than injuries themselves. The brilliance of this was something everyone missed, and the very next edition said that it was your ability to withstand injuries. Computers was of course linited at the time and so that was the easier thing to emulate. And everybody just accepted it. I still wait for a crpg that uses the old definition of HP...but of course, Holocure is not where I expect it to happen first.
If you want to really test your skill, I recommend playing Matsuri, her max weapon is very good at crowd control and her seiso+god are great conbined with beetle+breastplate.

Damage reduction can be useful once you have body pillow. I haven't done the numbers but, it seems to work for a good portion of the game
I still would recommend nurse's horns on fauna, but that's obviously niche
