I've never use Raid lures before, but since I base most of my plastics around flipping/punching and Texas rigging, I think those would be right up my alley! Plus, I get to buy more baits and try them out!
@@MattStefanFishing that's definitely a bait worth the effort. Since it says so anyway. It's almost about that time of the season to start doing proof of concept swimming pool shots again. Almost... I will soon! Thanks Matt
That looks like a good alternative to the ika. On a side note, I've been using the hover rig with the fat ika in the salt for spotted bay bass around dock pilings with good resoults. Will have to give this bait a try as well.
I think Raid makes good stuff. That gamma hook has served me very well since you first recommended it. Improves action on the fall over strait shank hooks. Hooks and allows you to land fish easily. Awesome suggestion.
Great stuff Matt! Raid makes some unique baits! Buggy Craw is a substantial piece of plastic. I have used it for the backslide technique. You can reverse the rigging of the EWG hook (like the Ika) or use a Decoy “Back Switcher” hook. Talking about Raid you gotta checkout their Libero 1/2 ounce spinnerbait it’s like nothing else 💯
When I first saw that bait I thought it was a tube, but after you described it, it would make a great punching bait, so many ways to use it, the raid baits on TW look amazing, probably will have to try them all at some point & they have some great colors, going tell you never flip a pike on the deck being barefooted, could get ugly or painful😂😂 Also that will be a fish landing violation, you'll have to get used to that one & no net either🤣
Hey Matt, I absolutely love almost all of the Raid lines. Another line you should give some time to is the OSP soft plastics. Both brands are NOT the most durable, but in my opinion, I’d much rather be catching a ton of fish and getting torn up and buying a ton of packs rather than not getting as many bites but the bait lasting forever. This particular Raid Buggy Craw is nice, my only complaint to raid would be more of a hook slot. The body is VERY fat for a plastic and I’d like more hook gap personally. I’ve been catching a TON of bass free rigging the OSP DoLive beaver which is in my opinion the best soft plastic flipping style bait ever made. Also I’m doing the same with the Bottomup Bulls Hog too.
I’ve been really enjoying all of the Raid baits I’ve been able to get. Try free rigging the Egu chunk. They make phenomenal hard baits too. The level vib (lipless) and the level vib boost (blade bait) are game changers.
If you rig the bait with the line tie at the Tentacle end the bait will back glide a few feet. I have had good results with it rigged like that and throwing it at over hanging bushes and letting it glide up under the overhang. It’s a heavy bait so you can fish it weightless.
The colors TW shows look a lot darker than the one you were using. It looked great for clear water. Couldn’t read the color on the package. Could you tell us what color it was. You had me when you said it was like a solid tube! Thank!
The price point is a big difference $10 for 6 compared to 8$ for 10 fir the ika ,i do very well with the fat ika and they hold up well also. Thanks for sharing
It’s a good backslide bait along with the Yamamoto. It’s skips well. I much prefer a stupid tube when I want that profile. I think the stupid tube glides better but around docks raid is better. Raid overall makes some good baits%
@MattStefanFishing Nice video Matt. I will give the bait a try. I notice that the color of bass is different from other bass you caught. Some large mouth are lighter colored and some are darker. Sometimes the eye's are black or clear. Can you do a video on the subject? Most anglers are probably wondering what effects the color of the large mouth bass. There aren't any videos explaining the topic.
I’ll be giving it a try after seeing this! Got a chance to buy a abu Garcia revo rocket 10:1 ratio at a steep discount. Is that high ratio worth buying?
Anyone able to tell me what is the weight of the buggy craw? I’m interested in skipping it weightless like a yamatanuki which has been a good bait getting bigger bites but only 1-3 fish. After watching your video Matt this may be a good durable dock skipper.
With respect to the yamatanuki, if you keep a lighter on the boat, you can warm it up and sort of weld it back together 2-3 times before it looks really awful. Just a way to get a little more mileage out of em 😉 I've found it doesn't work as well with the white as it does with natural colors. The white singes really easily; less so with GP or watermelon.
Love the sound of the loon in the background - brings back memories of the north woods 😉
The best!

haha! can never have to many baits!
That's a nice lookin bait. The fact that it appears you can catch multiple fish on one big is also great
agreed!
Interesting to see the hook up ration for that round/large of a bait. And on a 4/0 as well. Cool stuff Matt
You bet
You had me at fat ika...my must productive bait. We need more baits like this.
Awesome
The hover rig for backsliding is something I've been waiting to see for a long time.
give it a try!

Thank you sir for another great find, absolutely love it.
awesome!
Great to see you loving the ringed hooks, I have been using the gammies and VMC has a light wire and heavy wire ,but I love the gammies best.
they are great!

Was hoping to see you in the tin
Nice bait
haha! more tin boat coming!

yep it was made for backsliding!
Now you also have me looking at the raid battle hog craw.
it looked good as well but i didnt get any. Let me know if you try them what you think
Will do. Thank you again Matt for what you do informing us.
Hey Matt, for your private lessons, would you be able to do one geared towards northern Wisconsin pike and musky?
yep!
Good video Matt, I'll have to give them a try👍
go for it!
The level minnow is a good jerkbait too. The raid stuff is good
I’ll check it out

usually water color and time of ear is my understanding
You should try using the hubber rig for tubes
i will!
I'm thinking of two words...you know what they are! 🤣🤣
Oh boy!
@@MattStefanFishing Loved the Ika and love this gem. I knew the second I saw the thumbnail that you snagged another one!
Never heard of it I must be stuck under a rock sound like a good bait to try.
Give it a try

its a technique specific but at a steep discount i would snatch it up!
That thing would definitely be good in the saltwater. There's no way a redfish could pass it up if it had a nice scent.
Very true
Are you fishing braid to fluorocarbon leader or straight braid?
In this video straight braid
Just wondering what color you were using ?
Guripan Sukeru

@@sk8rfromGA thank you
I dont know the weight but it is HEAVY! like you could skip it a quarter mile
What color is this buggy craw?would like to order
Guripan Sukeru
👍👍👍👍👍
thanks for watching!
Put it on a skewer, id take a bite.
haha
Looks better than that other raid bait you were testing out. That thing was ugly!
haha
I bet that would kill in Florida grass shrimp fisheries.
try it!
I would use that on my Barnum Beach Barnum the river a shirt search baby
Sounds good
Hugen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
haha
Hugenstine is bbbacckkkkk
Nothing more annoying than when I use my fancy soft plastics and a pike tears them up😑
haha
Weightless, 4/0… drag it
i bet it will work!
