Best online teacher ever. Always surprised with how you make an extra creative move in every video, like taking half of the grid on the softbox. Congratulations for every video.
Nice that girds are included or more affordable. I remember when a grid cost as much as a softbox. Thanks for the idea of peeling away part of the grid for more creative options.
Oh my God Gavin, you are so fun to watch and your videos are very helpful! I laughed when you ripped off half of the grid at the end of the video to reveal the word “subscribe “. Brilliant! Thank you!
I know the video is about grids..I love them. But my comment is about the use of the fan to create movement and visual interest in your images. I think it makes a huge difference. Great video as usual Gavin. Stay safe.
Thanks for the kind words David. Yes, it's amazing what a difference a fan can make to the shoot. My top tip is bring in the fan at the ens of the shoot... for fairly obvious reasons 😉
Thanks Gavin for the always useful insights....I must say I have always bought lighting modifiers with the grid included...finding options for grids after purchase is sometimes difficult and always expensive. The Glow series from Adorama is a prime example of well-made and reasonably priced equipment that almost always includes a grid with whatever modifier you purchase. Stay well and safe!
Thank you for your demo. I am truly impressed with the quality of your OM-D E-M1 Mark 2. The images look very sharp and clean for a 4/3 sensor. Very good!
Gavin, I have learned quite a lot from your videos, are the photos you show after taking them jpegs right out of the camera or are they raw and processed before showing them, my photos never look like yours! Thank you!
You sneaked in some HSS there on the last shots... And I’m concerned about your smoke machine, it seems neglected lately! Keep making the great content! Thanks Gavin!

1 - you are adorable
2 - a great teacher
3 - do great photots in impossible locations
I never considered pulling half my grid off ... of course that kind of thing comes with experience. Wonderful video ... as ALWAYS Gavin!
Gavin, you're the best photo teacher there is. You simplify everything and make it so easy to understand.
Chloe is an absolute asset to you. Such a brilliant easy going model.
It is always a great pleasure listening to you!
Another masterclass from the master himself!
Still one of my favourite UA-cam educators. Gavin's the man.

So THE Ron Paulk watches the same photography videos as me?! which i use to photo the projects i make that he designs, small world!
@@greggillies1320 What photo projects would that be, and what kind of designs does he make?
Gavin, you are great! I have learned so much from you over the years. I feel like I should be paying you.

I'm lucky enough to have a softbox with a grid but I never knew it was quite a flexible as this. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Thanks Gavin. Another a great instructional video. I hope you and your family are safe and healthy. All the best from the U.S.
Great technique and gorgeous model.
Absolutely had never thought of using a half-gridded softbox... thanks for this, Gavin!

gavin my dear hoey! you are simply the sweetest awesome!
Great video!!!
Thank you, this video helped me decide that I do not, in fact, need to purchase another softbox (that has a grid). So thanks for saving me money!

Thank but Shhh, don't tell any one this secret Brandon... Clean sharp studio photos have very little to do with the size of the sensor 😲
@@GavinHoey Really?! Maybe needing new eyeglasses maybe my problem then, eh?
Great info Gavin, thank you.
Nothing to say but thank you❤️
Gavin another great tutorial. What fan is that your using in this video?
Genius!!! Thanks!
Great Video Gavin!
Thanks Robbie 👍
Great video as usual Gavin...can you provide a link for the fan used...thanks in advance
Great tutorial.
My thought is that, it would be lot more effective, if the examples are shown side-by-side ( without and with grid ).
Very useful video , I learned lot from it, looking forward more videos like this keep it up good work, thanks a lot sir R.manohar , india, chennai
