After 20 years of living with intrusive thoughts I promise that everything Matt has said here is true. You can never win a battle with your mind. Find the tools you need to heal as soon as you can. You don't want to lose 20 years of your life.

How did you finally beat it? (Or take the power back in your life?) I had my first real OCD episode last year and I have ROCD as my main theme so it's really impacted my life in so many ways. I was unfortunately misdiagnosed with something I don't have for almost 7 months out of that years' time, and was only diagnosed with OCD a few months ago when I started therapy with a specialist. I'm still trying to sort of claw my way back to life as it was, or at least some semblance of it, but I feel like I haven't been doing recovery work properly. What was the biggest change/habit you implemented in your recovery that you feel made the most difference?

@@heidichamberlain9548 When you are younger you are more tend to be vulnerable to belive in everything around you, media news, prone to stereotypical thinking ,and by becoming older you collect more experience, less depending in other opinions about you discover that life is not black and white and not so perfect, this is in one point what is key feature in ocd, this perfectionism, desire to control. With aging ocd tend to decrese, because you have more instruments from your life experience how to overcome diferent situations

I'm on paxil, cutted down on caffeine, do some excercise, diet and did cognative therapy on myself. Over the years tye bad memories faded too.
I have one ocd thought left to eliminate.

Hi Matt Thanks for your help. I feel like I'm getting better with Hocd I went through this 10 years ago and went through a relapse after going through the most stress filled time in my life. I do erp and that's helped out a lot but where I trip up is when the thought hits me randomly . The thoughts are not as frequent but it's that one random one during the day that throws me off.

Thx for this. I want to drive again but the crazy thoughts of losing control and crashing on purpose stops me!!! It’s making me soo frustrated.
