How to Deep Clean a Miele Dryer

- A step by step overview of how we performed a deep clean of our 15 year old Miele Dryer.
The dryer was taking 4-6 hours to finish drying a load of clothes. After calling a Miele consultant to examine the unit, the consultant indicated that Miele could perform a deep clean of the unit for approximately $500.
Considering the unit was 15 years old and long out of warranty, we took a chance that we could conduct our own deep clean of the Miele dryer. While we didn't know what we were doing at the time, we took a video of the whole process and documented our findings.
All in all, after cleaning the Miele dryer ourselves, we reduced the drying time from 4-6 hours to 30-45 minutes. It's like our dryer is back to brand new. - Навчання та стиль
Thanks! Our old Miele T8627WP (approx 15 years) has also been rather slow the last couple of years. I just spent twenty minutes popping the front off using your instructions and cleaned a wad of lint from the right hand side. in our case there was no foam filter, but just lint in the fins. Now to give it a try and see how well it works.
This is on my To-Do list; great video.
Good on you David. No B.S. straight to the point on how to save yourself hundreds of dollars and minimise downtime with your appliance.
Please remeber to disable power to the appliance by switching GPO off and unplug the appliance before attempting any work to increase personal electrical safety.
Another unit rescued from hards waste disposal. Cheers for your informative no nonsense video.Well done mate. :-)
Thanks Joe. Yes, we did turn off the power. More power to shorter videos!
Brilliant! I’ve got the exact same machine , still works well, no issues. But I’ve had it since 2009, I figured to look this video up to give it a deep clean preventively, I think it’ll need it after all these years. Although I’m not yet noticing any significant extended time it needed to dry. Also just for fire safety a good clean is advisable I think.
Hello David, thanks for you video, it’s help u’s to fix the dryer . 😊
Thanks for this. I have the same dryer. My fault is that it says that the water container needs emptying when it is empty. This would suggest that either the water tube is blocked or a micro switch is failing - any advice greatly appreciated.
Sir I have a problem with the Milly dryer when finished it says clean the filters and I cleaned them well. Thank you, please reply
We watched your video today, our problem was not that it would not dry, but that the heat was to high. And then it began to make a lot of noise. but we screwed the front from the machine, and where you say vacuum good underneath we did. the is a sort from ventilator there, and we vacuumed a whole lot of dust from there. I am sure it is or was the problem. We wash tomorrow, and will let you know. this said. maybe it was enough just unscrew the plate you move to the left. and when that came of you can also vacuum clean it?
Well thanks anyway for the movie!
To bad, it didn't solve our problem. it still gets to hot and begin to resonate severely! :-(
Also can you use dryer sheets or do you need them since it’s a heat pump? Also can you use fabric softener of does it cause lint build up quicker?
Yes, sheets can go in the dryer. We use fabric softner. Just need to take 5 seconds to clean out the lint sections each time.
Hello,
Any advice and help for me?!!!
My meile dryer stop drying after 10-20 min of working. So i have to turn it agine 2-4 time till the chlotes are dry.
It's a meile just like on video.
Hi Cupo. Sorry, I'm not a repair person, just learning from searching and trial and error. If you've cleaned out all the lint and everything else appears ok, you may have to call a repair agent. Good luck.
The sensor that measures humidity is sensing the dry part of the clothing and will switch it off. If your dryer has a manual mode that is timed, use that instead
I'd like to know how to open a bottom drawer. It's somehow stuck in my case
Hi. As in the separator between the dryer/washer? Or the vent drawer? The vent drawer can be tricky - it doesn't pull outwards directly - it needs to be pulled to the side a bit. That's assuming you have removed the screws first, as per the video.
David,
We have been looking at the Miele dryer. So you stated yours is 15 years old? My question is. Would you buy it again ?
Hi. The dryer has been excellent. It just had a recent basic service and the repairman said that it was an excellent model.
I have a new heat pump miele dryer if you have any questions?
My bosch condenser dryer has a removable condenser that I rinse in the shower. I wish heat pump dryers had this capability. Alas, the foam filter bottom left l, does this need to be washed? I'm just wondering if a super fine stainless steel mesh would do a better job whilst being easier to clean... hmmmm
I’ve had this exact same dryer since 2009, still very happy with it. Even energy consumption is very reasonable considering it’s age. Same goes for the Miele washing machine I bought at the same time.
My parents have the older model of this machine, (about 5 years older), that is also still going strong.
@@santouchesantouche2873 this Miele dryer has a removable condenser. He calls it "bottom drawer" in the beginning of this video
"Void the warranty"? If the unit is more than a year old, the warranty is worthless anyway. Miele talks a big game with their marketing claims of their products being engineered for a twenty year service life but even after notifying them of a catastrophic latent defect in their washing machines, all they had to say is "it's past the one year warranty, we couldn't care less about your problem".
Hi Jersey. Warranty depends on region. In Australia, our legislation deems that the warranty for a product must be reasonable. Therefore, if Miele provides a warranty of 1 year, you can challenge this and say - 'based on the cost of this dryer, a reasonable person would believe it should last for 3-5 years'. You can argue this in relatively small tribunals for a very small charge.
But for this video it's a moot point, as you are the one taking apart the unit and therefore this action will likely void the 'reasonable' warranty period as well.
Would you buy the dryer again after having it this many years?
I’ve had this exact same dryer since 2009, I’ve not regretted it one bit in all these years. Same goes for the Miele washing machine I bought at the same time.
