    This is just what I need! Fantastic that the Amish produced this marvel. I use a Bluetti + two 100W solar panels to recharge my batteries. Now I can use the Millertech to run other tools/gadgets in my workshop. Small investment for a clean, continuous power. Win-Win

    • @LDSreliance
      @LDSreliance  9 місяців тому

      Yep. And Milwaukee, DeWalt, and Makita make a travel charger for their 18V batteries, too, which makes it even more efficient to charge the batteries directly from solar or a battery like your Bluetti. Might be worth the investment if you are going to use them regularly. I did a video on that a little while back: ua-cam.com/video/NhxaYTQVvjQ/v-deo.html

    What I'd like to see is a European version of a inverter/charger (pure sine wave). This would keep the batteries fully charged and ready to go as you never know when the power is going to go. It's always the time when your not ready! know what power you have available and what you are using to calculate how long it will last.

    Question. ive got dewalt for my primary garage and personal use but ive got Bauer and Hercules tools for me and my guys who go and do home cleanouts and have loads of batteries for those. would those batteries work on the dewalt and Milwaukee version like most other tool adapters do?

    • @LDSreliance
      @LDSreliance  6 місяців тому

      They fit the socket and the inverter will operate with them just fine. But they do not click in place. Thus, a hazard. Also, using adapters and unapproved batteries may void the warranty with MillerTech.

    How well does this work with 1.5AH and 2AH batteries? and can you mix different size AH batteries?

    • @LDSreliance
      @LDSreliance  Місяць тому

      It works fine with the smaller batteries, but I doubt that three 1.5Ah batteries could sustain a 1000W load for very long. Yes, you can mix any size (capacity) batteries as long as they are in the M18 series, DeWalt 20V/FlexVolt series, or the Makita 18V.

    How well do these do with lets say microwaves, coffee pots, and blenders???

    • @LDSreliance
      @LDSreliance  4 місяці тому

      I don't own a microwave that is 1000W or less so I haven't tried that. But I was emailed by a construction crew that said they love the one they bought because they can huddle up around it in the morning before starting work and heat up a bunch of breakfast burritos in a microwave. No idea what the wattage was on theirs.
      It can go above 1000W for a meaningful amount of time. But I would not recommend using any microwave that is more than 1000W. I've tried it with an air conditioner so it will run pretty much anything.

    Can this also charge the batteries? If so that is VERY cool! Pure sine?

    • @LDSreliance
      @LDSreliance  Рік тому +1

      No, only an inverter. Even though you can use the power the same from Makita/DeWalt/Milwaukee batteries they all 3 have slightly different charging parameters. So making a charger that can do all 3 and get them fully charged and balanced is basically impossible.
      Yes, pure sine wave output.

      @@LDSreliance Still a cool device. I'm seeing a lot of similar devices in the electronic community to replace bench power supplies. It's too bad all these companies lock you in with battery packs.

    • @LDSreliance

      Yeah a universal socket type would be nice. Fat chance that happens, though. Surprisingly, the Milwaukee 18V and DeWalt 20V use the same socket. But I don't think any other brands are even close.

    • @LDSreliance
      @LDSreliance  4 місяці тому

      Sure. You could run it with one battery if you want. But it obviously won't last very long and it won't be able to do 1000W with one battery. Maybe with 2 but I doubt it.

    How long would the MillerTech 1000W Triple Socket Power Tool Battery Inverter last with three fully charged FlexVolt 20V/60V 9Ah batteries when connected to a 43" LCD TV and a fan?

    • @edwinflores7564

      20V×9Ah=180Whx3=540Wh

    • @LDSreliance
      @LDSreliance  3 дні тому

      DeWalt lies, unfortunately. Their batteries are actually 18V just like Milwaukee. They have admitted this but their excuse is 18V is the nominal voltage so they prefer to use 20V because it sounds better.
      Anyways, 18Vx9Ah=162Whx3=486Wh. Unfortunately, I have no idea how much energy your TV and fan consume but I'll do an example. If the TV runs at 40W and the fan runs at 30W then you have a 70W load. 486/70=6.94 hours (without accounting for losses). In the real world, you will get around 6-6.5 hours from those 3 batteries in that scenario.
      Keep in mind that this inverter is hot swappable so you could pull out one or more of the batteries at the 5th hour mark and replace them with fresh batteries and keep going without losing power on those devices.

    Is there an inverter that's compatible with a 20v 5amp Bauer battery?

    • @LDSreliance
      @LDSreliance  3 дні тому

      Technically, both the Bauer and Hercules brands from Harbor Freight use the same socket shape as the Milwaukee and DeWalt batteries. However, I am told that the locking mechanism to keep the batteries in the socket does not engage properly on the Bauer and Hercules batteries. So MillerTech does not officially support those brands. But if you slid one in and put a piece of duct tape on it then it would operate the inverter.

    Wished they had one for Ryobi Batteries. Or make one for the Ryobi 40v batteries.

    • @LDSreliance
      @LDSreliance  4 місяці тому

      Ryobi batteries have the "male" style battery instead of the sliding style like the other brands. So that makes it much more challenging to incorporate a socket as it would be much bulkier unless you redesigned the inverter from the ground up to allow the batteries to penetrate the case. MillerTech is not interested in a Ryobi version but I'm working on some possible options for future models.

    Can you run a battery charger off the inverter to make it basically self reliant ?.

    • @LDSreliance
      @LDSreliance  Рік тому +2

      No, that would break the laws of physics. Every time energy changes forms you will lose some to heat or other forces. So an 18V DC battery converting to 120V AC and then a battery charger converting 120V AC back to 18V DC would lose 30-40% of the original power.

      It looks like it uses 7A or about 800W. There will be a surge current on startup, though, and I suspect it will be severe. Unfortunately, there isn't any way to know if it will run or not with the information given. I'd say your chances are about 50/50.

    "...your batteries will not be able to do that". Laughs in 9ah flexvolt.
    Its also a bit disingenuous to call the 3.0ho "high output"...its higher output than the 1.5 or 2.0. The 3.0xc will put out more watt hours with a 60 amp draw than a 3.0 Cp will at a 50 amp draw. Any XC pack, other than the 6.0, in serviceable condition, will have higher instantaneous current output than the 3.0cp.

    • @LDSreliance
      @LDSreliance  8 місяців тому +1

      I disagree. That battery cannot put out 1000W under any conditions. It "theoretically" can output a maximum of 60A, but not for sustained usage. So, you could put three of those on this inverter and spread the load out so it was more like 22A each and they would be able to run for about 7 minutes.
      I stand by my original statement. There are no 18V-20V power tool batteries on the market right now that can handle 1000W continuous power from an inverter (which is more like 1200W draw from the batteries after you factor in the 15% efficiency loss) for what anyone would consider a reasonable amount of time. Not to mention the voltage sag would probably shut off the inverter. So, even in your scenario (where you think that 9ah batteries are laughing at my statement), with some of the biggest and most expensive batteries that Milwaukee makes, they still would not do it for more than a few minutes. And that would not make any consumer very happy, which is why I caution people not to really consider this a 1000W inverter.

    • @LDSreliance
      @LDSreliance  9 місяців тому

      Yeah that is a limitation of the batteries. But I've heard from all kinds of trades that their whole crew can warm up breakfast burritos in the morning on the jobsite with a small microwave. And a trim carpenter doing some touch up work can take it and a small pancake compressor and nail up some trim without dragging out 300 feet of hose and a 200 pound jobsite compressor. So it can't do everything but it can do some things really well.
