I was going to upload this video back in October, but life had other plans for me... Ok, I'm just making up excuses now XD. Anyway, hope you enjoy this video, I really poured my soul into making it!
Great video, Kevin! Also, still waiting on that Telegram :) On another note, i really enjoy your content, be it Spanish or English. You motivate me to maximize my old phones usage.
Yup, I found a way to get UA-cam to run on Android 2.3 and stupid UA-cam removed that video because it's "harmful" and "dangerous". They banned me for a week from posting anything and got a strike that will last 90 days.
These day I'm just so nostalgic to the KitKat and Early Material era of Android.(Android 5 and 6) Its just really unfortunate that the browsers on KitKat aren't updated anymore. This way even going forward many sites and thus services would still work. If I were to pick a favorite from that time it would have to be the LG G3. That phone not only had a great looking 1440p Display, but also wireless charging and a design that I think still holds up now with the very sleek almost bezelless display. Also its always just cool to see a fellow phone collector :D!
Same here. I have to daily a Samsung S2 (more out of necessity than anything) It works great with a SlimSaber rom, can run GTA SA, Asphalt 8 and other games i greatly enjoy, along with social media. Only downside is not having Whatsapp, which isnt even that much of a downside in my eyes.
Well i Stopped using it 2 yeard ago on my samsung galaxy tab e 9.6 and installed android 7.1.2 then installed 8.1 with custom roms because it was unusable lol!
I remember using KitKat on my Galaxy S3 mini too back when I was 13, after upgrading from a Galaxy Y to a Lumia 610 to the S3 mini, I got so excited to tried the new OS with CyanogenMod 11, things were fun back then.
I thought I was the only person who still cared about KitKat lol. That whole 2013-2014 era was such an awesome and influential time for Android in general: the HTC One M7/8, Nexus 7, Nexus 4/5, One Plus One, Chromecast, Moto X, Jelly Bean, KitKat, Google Now, etc. It was so much fun and I still love that KitKat aesthetic, with the Roboto Condensed font, good mix of light and dark themes, lots of transparency and color, awesome build-in wallpapers, and overall chill and laid-back type of vibe. Just look at those pretty Google Now headers that changed with the time of day lol. It’s my personal favorite operating system of all time and the one I most associate with my childhood, a perfect middle ground between overly gaudy and overly minimal. It was also generally an amazing time in my life outside of anything tech related lol, so I admittedly feel super attached and biased towards it. I feel like Android now is so ridiculously over-designed and childish looking. KitKat bizarrely looks much more adult and futuristic even now. I honestly switched back to iOS a few years back and keep KitKat running on a Nexus 7 and Moto X for nostalgia now lol.
Obviously. But i made my LineageOS less iOS and more of a proper AOSP by removing the default launcher and replacing it with Launcher 3 and by changing the clock alignment from left to right. I hate companies imitating Apple iOS, it's important to know that Android belongs to Google and iOS belongs to Apple. Google and Apple are different companies, yet this decision of copying Apple is the worst decision of all.
3:06 They used wacky designs to attract customers. A race to see who can be the next big thing (the essential phone kinda won that too). Now, brands just make the phones taller
Loved the throwback! Fantastic effort on bringing back memories. I have a few old devices running kitkat. They aren't as powerful as the ones you've shown, but should do the basics well. Problem is, nothing works anymore! Can't use Spotify, UA-cam or even Microsoft Edge....All the apps that were working for you when you made this video. Are they all still working on your devices? If yes, could you please extract them & share the APK files here? Would be very grateful as it would allow me to get some use of my old devices & that would be great!!! Right now they are just paperweights because I can't use them for any daily uses at all! Instead of throwing away perfectly working devices and increasing e-waste, I'd rather re-purpose them & get some use out of them by keeping them running.
You can find many of the APKs I use in places like apkmirror. I've had several of my videos struck by community guideline strikes for sharing apks so that's why I don't do that anymore.
It would be very helpful if you could share the apk version numbers you use for applications so we know which ones work on Kitkat. Or even the apkmirror links. You could mention it on Twitter or Reddit or any other social media & then mention something like "Check out that my social media which I've linked in the description to know more about applications that work on Android KitKat" in one of your videos. This would be of immense help to your viewers & not hurt your UA-cam channel in anyway.
4.4 was peak Android, wish I could install it on a modern phone. 5.0 felt like it took 10 steps backwards. It was ugly, laggy and drained battery like crazy.

Why is the video ''Android 2.3 | UA-cam still WORKING in 2023, here's how!'' is blocked for violating UA-cam's Community Guidelines???

I'm actually using a TabE at 4.4.4 and it barely functions, does force update not crash the whole device?

kitkat had the pre-material design
where there's still skeumorphic in some places but has a paper theme in others
