I used to live here. (From June 2005 to October 2007). We had a corner store we could walk to, down that bridge that was near the library, but yes, no actual store. We had to catch the bus and go to the Carnival food store that was down E. Lancaster. We did have washer dryer hookups, but the clothes line was good for the people who didnt have the machines.
A lot of them got relocated to my hometown in Saginaw, TX. They put them in the nicest apartments here (which are constantly trashed now) and crime in the area now exists heavily. It is insane to see my hometown going downhill, slowly but surely. It may look nice here but I doubt it will remain that way for very long, which deeply saddens me.
I'd love to see them completely redo this area for new affordable housing. Since it's land locked, put in a grocery store and other amenities. Build up, make tall buildings to fit more people. Potentially remodel the school to house all the students from this community. I wonder if Fort Worth is willing to have discussions around this.
While editing this video I could imagine exactly what you described! I think that’s a great idea and Fort Worth city organizers are throwing ideas around about what will happen next so i guess we will see- thanks for watching!
some of the first re-located from Butler was in the early '80s when they built new projects in my neighborhood in far south Fort Worth...within six months of them moving in, the crime rate tripled in our neighborhood (we got robbed twice) and white flight began...today that neighborhood is a dump
Poor doggy. It’s limping. I know someone that saved a colony of abandoned cats when people left Butler. They moved and didn’t take their cats. Security was a complete butt about her saving them too. She’s a rockstar.
It's right there at one of the worst parts for homeless in the whole city. I'm actually surprised no one is here at all, considering that. Feels like an awful waste of space and effort.
You people are crazy. You can't house homeless people you have to make them house themselves. It doesn't help. Keep that stupid crap out of Texas. We should however bring back poor farms though

Late 80’s and 90’s that was a very dangerous area to live.

Thats what sucks they put these people in hard working nice areas and they completely run them down. This happened to alta mesa and mccart
Look at the racist crying and complain 😅

Yeah, Biden would fill them with illegals.
I like the documentary style feel
Thank you it was a great experience!
Thats prime real estate now!
Definitely, over forty acers.
Yep, with the residential development near downtown, I could be luxury condos.
@@keithwilson6060 I thought it was supposed to be luxury condos

Sorry to hear that Norris pg. I know it was a long time ago, but being robbed let alone twice stays with you.
This place doesn't look any worse than the dump I live in. It's likely nicer than the dump I live in!
Very sorry Diane, hope things get better.
lol you’ve never been to the projects clearly - it’s abandoned so it looks rather benign
great story
Thank you my friend!

That's great to hear! I couldn't imagine leaving any of my pets behind.
These projects we weren't " abandoned ", they systematically moved out residents to other locations.
Abandoned more in the sense of the city stopped using the property for housing.
Man they knocked these down alredy , I got good memories there going to dede to get my hair braided
Wow, I didn't know they had already torn them down!
@@theoutseerscorrection, I thought these were the projects of E.Rosedale street.
I wish you talked about the history a little. When was it built? When was it last occupied?
2020 was when the last remaining family's moved away. was built in 1940 sorry about that, thank you for watching!

I agree with keeping the name Butler!
It’s a great part of Fort Worth history!
Damn that place has memories
Bro, I have been wondering what is gonna happen to that place. Its been there forever.
I understand they had a meeting 8-31-22 to move forward with the redevelopment. But still not exactly sure what the plan is.
With the homeless population in Fort Worth it seems like something great could be done with these homes!
Very true!

@@chuckporter9526 exactly what I was thinking!

Maybe they should get jobs instead. Like the rest of society.
Wow!!!
Never change the name
I agree amigo 💯 !
