Incredible! What an amazing walk!!! I agree there was just so much to see (in fact I had to go back & watch a 2nd time!😁)! Starting w/ the beautiful church, to that marvelous country lane, through wild flower filled woods, over an incredible little bridge, ending at a magical lilly pad pond!😊 The Bluebells were amazing, but so were all of the dozens of other wildflowers along this path! Mustard, Jack-In-The-Pulpit, Primrose, Forget-Me-Not, Stitchwort... Throw in an old Tanner's Cottage & a Country House, well I just couldn't ask for more!!!😍

Great Video Richard, with a bit of everything: a Church, a pub, lovely houses, bluebells, streams with running water, beautiful landscapes and chats with the locals, what more could we want, thank you so much.

Loved the sound of collard doves. That's a pretty well heeled part of the world!

Love Fernhurst! The name came about from our Saxon predecessors they named the area 'fearn hyrst' meaning 'ferny wooded hill'. There is a brilliant website called the Fernhurst society that's fantastic for learning the history around Fernhurst and the local area.

what a lovely place. Just realised that there was no music on this one but that gave it a sort of peacefulness

It's absolutely beautiful around that area Richard. Redford, Linch, Milland , Henley, Iping, Woolbeding. There is quite a lot of Heathland scattered around which is stunning in August when the Heather is out.

Very enjoyable - I don’t know that part of Sussex well but it has remained very rural and peaceful - lovely to see the spring flowers!

Beautiful video Richard. Lived just down the road but never walked in Fernhurst. The English language is so funny "The longer half of the walk to do" But it makes perfect sense to us 🤗

I'm still playing catch-up with your films Richard (still moving house), and this was a welcome addition to your other projects. The charcoal furnaces are as readily identifiable with the Sussex/Surrey Weald as the Oast houses are of neighbouring Kent.Nice film.

Well done Richard. You captured much of the unique beauty of Fernhurst. The lady of that house with two pugs was born there. Her father loved water and created the ponds. And l am so lucky to be married to her! Please call in next time.

Good to see you in explorer mode! I was wondering if Fernhurst was near the Sussex / Hants border. Nice to see the Lords and Ladies out. I liked the shot of you framed by the two diverging tree trunks with a foreground of bluebells. The reflections in lake were lovely too. A video packed with visual and audio delights stunningly well shot and executed. A pleasure to watch.

Richard, I think for charcoal it is more likely that the wood would have been coppiced rather than felled. Possibly ash? or chestnut. Delightful walk, that was good for the soul.

    • @RichardVobes

Yes you are right. I think I may have held the in my mind when I misspoke about planting. I think I really meant that they would have been a lot more tree growing not necessary planting in the area.
