I have an uncle that is 102, just planted his garden. Can you imagine all he’s seen? He was in WWII. Lived on a farm in his younger years with his mom, dad, and siblings.
1967 we got our first 19" black & white tv. we had channels 3 & 6 which showed the same programs. Channels 8 & 10 everyday but sunday they showed the same programs. And about 2 years later we got channel 41.
3.. wow, we just had BBC and ITV and they didn't start till late afternoon... the rest of the time you got the test card transmission. I remember as a kid sitting in front of the box staring at the test card waiting for Andy Pandy to come on.
Staying up late, watching a black and white tv, adjusting the antenna, and the channel knobs for best reception, watching sci fi or Godzilla, fuzzy reception..it was like a victory to see stuff!
I just loved you two talking today, I am 62 years old, and I can remember when I got my first laura Ingalls wilder book. I read it and felt like I was in the wrong timeline. I have all her books, and when I went to Missouri to her homestead, I cried, like I was home. I love the past years. And all the history. You two have a blessed week. Gods blessings to all.
Just the other night my husband and I were sitting around a camp fire in the back yard talking about the good old days .When we were kids my husbands family didn't have a bathroom . They had an out house and bathed in a basin. They only had cold water .Only a black and white TV and you had to get up to change the channel. And NO phone!!!!!
Anne is a Canadian story from Prince Edward Island, Canada. Her story is our Canadian Sweetheart story. Lucy Maude Montgomery was the author. She also wrote Emily of New Moon--a trilogy--also great family viewing. My memories are of being next door in my grandmother’s kitchen in the farmhouse as she prepared a full lunch time meal spread for the guys working in the fields. She cleaned the chicken, baked apple pies, vegetables, bread, and more. I would stand on the chair and she would peel the apples so it was one continuous peel that I would eat! She would serve me tea in her fine china (half milk) 😁. Fond memories! ❤️❤️❤️
Hi yall! I don’t care what time in the day you do your great Podcasts, but please! Please! add an extra one a week? (Or more‼️). It seems that is all I do is think “ When are they going to release another Podcast”. Please give me some more to enjoy????? ‼️😂🥰. 👵🏻
When you go to Front Royal take the time to take the drive on the skyline drive through the Shenandoah mountains. The scenery is breathtaking.i had a friend that lived there and my brother lived in Winchester area for 10 years. My late wife and I went there on our honeymoon back in 1979.
I enjoyed your joy and fun in this podcast. Thanks for answering questions. I want you to know out of all the videos of farm or homesteading videos yours with the animals is the cleanest and well kept I have seen. You take pride in your place and that makes me happy😄
Jason I liked the way you described how full you were "I'm just full as a tick". We were talking about how our parents and grandfather lived just the other day. Brooke you're right do what you love and love what you do in life.
As your talking about those peaches and Jason is just poppin them in his mouth shaking his head agreeing and say unhummm unhummm😆😆 Have a good evening 🌷🌷🌷
That baby girl has better things to do than podcasting. She will do it when she wants to and if not, we still get to see her on the Vlog. She’s so precious. Love y’all much❤️
You hit the nail, on the head. Our brains have NOT changed, they are maxed out, overwhelmed, and we are consequently anxious. Too much input, everywhere, all the time.
Me and other subscribers to other channels, mention Mary Carl a lot to suggest that they ask her questions about their chicken issues. lol We admire her knowledge and flaunt it to other UA-camrs. Love your Cogcast today!
I absolutely love your joyful enthusiasm for life!! Watching y’all is truly like a breath of fresh air!! I’m so blessed to have found all of your media outlets! Keep shining 👍🏼♥️☀️♥️👍🏼
I live up in NY and the radiant floors are wonderful. Nothing like waking up to a freezing floor makes you not want to go anywhere so the heated floors are a blessing.
Finish the restoration of your Air Stream Trailer and use it to go to the Homesteader Gatherings. That would be a blast🌝 My grandparents, had an outhouse, cold running water only in the house and a white enamel can/bucket with a red rimmed band on the can/bucket and lid. This was commonly called the Pee Can that sat under the edge of the bed. Grandma cooked on a Wood Stove. Grandpa took care of the cows, chickens and the garden. It was always a treat to spend the night with these two blessed old timers. Have a blessed evening, stay safe and healthy 🙏🥰👍👌🙏🇺🇸🙏🇺🇸🙏
I so enjoyed y’all’s trip into the past. We moved from Ohio to Arkansas in June of 1958. The heat was sweltering to us. I didn’t understand why opening the windows and turning the fans on didn’t work like before. Then, suddenly school was out for over two weeks. Daddy brought a tree home to decorate. I said Daddy, it’s not Christmas, it hasn’t snowed yet. He gave me a kiss on my forehead and said “welcome to the South ( private nickname)”
Thank you for getting to the point of questions asked. I have watched other farming pad casts and the owners go on and on and on and on, until you fall asleep listening them to continually repeat themselves ad nauseum. When a fan is looking for info that you know and they don't, or is trying to make a decision about, some podcasters can't seem to get to the point, and fans leave in total frustration. I have noticed that you both have recently started to "cut to the chase" and explain the answers to fan's questions much faster, AND IT IS SO VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!! Like you, we fans are also busy and you both respect that! We live in a rural area, have a septic system and tile bed and that is one of the things that we as homeowners NEVER mess with. You have to rely on your builder to identify your total needs, usually by the number of water facilities (sinks, toilets, showers/bathtubs, hose outlets, etc) and bedrooms in the house that will house a maximum of XXX occupants. You can research the heck out of what it is all about, but there are more important things to do on rural lands rather than repeat the steps already taken by your builder and inspectors, the qualified experts. The wisest words we ever heard and believed, were to leave the rural jobs to the experts , and that includes danger repairs such as electrical and plumbing. While we all are capable of minor repairs to these latter two, any repairs needed, if not done by qualified and licensed experts, can lead to disasters to which help you need, cannot quickly respond. Be smart and safe, and learn by watching these experts work, all the while asking questions about what you can (and shouldn't) do in the future.
When you were talking about having an old truck I had to smile. In 1976 I co owned a 52 Dodge 3/4 ton truck. A flat head 6 engine, split windshield, visor, an air vent right behind the hood that opened with a handle under the dashboard. It's favorite speed was 40 mph. It was rusty and had been in a barn for some years. We made a bumper out of a large slab of oak and had a really hard time making holes for the lights. It was scary looking. There was a 5 way intersection in Worcester Massachusetts that was sometimes was hard to get across in a regular vehicle but people would see us coming and just stop. Let us go right through. I think people thought we wouldn't mind blasting right thru. It was a great truck. I was a year younger than the truck :-)
I would love to live back in little house Prairie time. My dad and I watch Starsky and Hutch tonight. My husband's niece lives in Tennessee. She has heated floors. I enjoyed the podcast. Hope ya'll have a wonderful evening. Love you guys.
Back in the day our goats loved the Multi Rose bushes. The goats that we had were browsers that loved to also get into the flower beds and kept the flowers pruned.
I wish I could heart this podcast!! Especially Brooke's comments about slowing down, do what you love to do, take time to appreciate your blessings, your family. Too many families give away precious time to other things, jobs, extra curricular activities, etc. Kids grow up too fast and so many parents think they know their kids but honestly do not. Kids join things because of parent pressure not because they want to. Parents are working too many hours for worldly possessions while losing connections with those that matter. Our society was changed by those in power to create the "need" to live a certain way. And this led us away from the way it once was. It changed the family dynamic and the results were rises in divorce, debt, stress, and so on. I look forward to being in a place that I can start my farm/ministry. This world could be a much different place if we had not gotten so far away from the way families once lived.
Thank you for the information on goats we have just got goats, and I have to say any information is great. We just started worming our baby's and two are easy to catch. But the little male is a hand full as of now. Anyway love you programs and great video's. Lots of love.
Jason I find it so hard to believe that you're shy around people when you are so funny on the blog. And Brooke I salute you for being so strong with your Weight Watchers because when it would come to adding heavy whipping cream I would be cheating for sure I love watching you guys
I have radiant heated floors in my bathrooms only and I love them. I live on the ALA/TN line and I used them this year to start my seeds when we had the ice and snow because my heat mats hadn't been delivered!
I also remember going to town to watch the first landing on the moon. We lived 5years with no tv and radio, one station during the day. Evening one station that would come in from 2000 miles away. We lived as a family!
I live in Minnesota near the Canadian border. Radiant floors are something most new builds and remodels have in addition to a furnace. Radiant floors offer heat without the drying air from a forced air furnace. It make perfect sense that y’all wouldn’t need them in your new place. We have a cold fall & spring and a ridiculously freezing winter!! We do have an extremely humid summer as our state has a lot of lakes & rivers. We have more than 12,000 lakes and the Mississippi River begins in our state. In addition, our homes need a basement or a underground bunker because we are the most northern state in ‘tornado alley’! I often wonder why we live here. It is a beautiful state, but it’s all about family. I have not been able to talk my entire family to move, so here I stay! Lots of love, Doc M.💕
Peach season is long here in the South. You might want to sample several varieties in 2021 and let us know your results. Curious about how many ways you can use the peaches including pies and freeze drying.
You can run cold through the radient flooring as easily as hot. Using the floor for your cooling is a great idea since you can control the amount of cool.
I used to drive a 1986 Jeep CJ7( the last year they made CJ7's), and I loved every minute that I drove it(stick shift). Drove stick shift for 41 years until my knee gave me problems with the clutch!! Automatic cars after that!(not as much fun to drive.) Perk test..... Think about an old coffee pot(percolators) that draws up the water from the pot and the water flows over the coffee grounds and filters down through the grounds to make the coffee. Hence percolator coffee!!(water flowing through solids). "Full as a tick!!!" I busted out laughing when you said that!! What a great description! Will you dig a root cellar at the new farm for all your long term storage veggies??? Pig shelter on skis! I think God dropped you right into the area where you fit in perfectly!! Sounds like your are very welcome in your new area! I always said that I was born 30 years too late( and I was born in 1950!) The older times were the best, looking back on them now! People never knew they were poor until they grew up and someone told them they were! But I think poor is relevant to how you think about it! Just because you don't have something does not mean you are poor! If everyone does not have the same things, that is normal in my opinion. Your plans seem right on track! God Bless!
Things are rolling right along for you all. All your plans sound great. But when you talk about cement floors, my feet start to ache. Get a rubber mat to use for long standing. 💖
Conecuh sausage cut up in pieces cooked in a covered pan with a little water in the bottom with grits and eggs is one of our favorites for breakfast (or when we have breakfast for dinner)!
I'm 68 hubby is 73and were trying to live the pioneer way, we have a summer kitchen away from the house to keep from heating up the house, i make breads, soaps, washing powders, make our meds from herbs, wash, cook, sew, and iron ect off grid it can be done if you want do
I used to live in Florida and I remember having a conversation with my gf who wanted (at the time) to move to Florida and I told her about the heat and she pooh-poohed it as she said that she knew what hot was. Well she finally moved to Florida and then she knew. It sure changed her mind.
That is awesome. You guys are a beautiful couple. It’s like wild Country Avon for men. You guys are so busy. Really amazing. You have to be tired. Don’t wear yourselves out. Your goats will love your new farm. Your goats are healthy. Well my mother in law had a neighbor had a baby goat. I loved on it she never told me it had been eating poison ivy I broke so bad face neck arms. Shots later I found out. Do you plant in fall garlic or spring. You guys I learn something every week. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥
Very excited to follow along with your new farm adventure 😁 My husband and I love Anne with an e, we have watched the series 2 times and will probably watch it again🤣😂🤣
I just love y'all videos thank you so much for taking us on your journey cannot wait to y'all get Farm up and going God bless you take care be safe love you all
I'm so glad y'all talked about your mom's house. Have you seen the prefab kits for backyard cottages? They are so danged cute. I told my daughter I want to live in her back yard. LOL.
I tried a yellow & an orange meated watermelon last summer. The orange was good but the yellow was FANTASTIC. Yes, a 1940 -56 pick up truck turned around so the bed is facing the road with all your extra produce for sale.
Growing up in Newfoundland back in the eighties I did not look at helping the family to harvest food a chore it was a way of life. We would share food with other ppl of our town who couldn't get out and do these things anymore as well.
I used to think free ranging was the only option for chickens, but, now I have my own, in a residential area, we have a million cats, hawks, tons of other predators. I may let mine out when they reach full size, but I’ll still have to put up anti hawk nets. They seem super happy in the large run I built for them, and the big area underneath the walk in coop, it’s super dry under the coop, they love hanging out there and dust bathing. I think,I could keep them very happy just in their run. They’re only seven weeks old. Truly ripe peaches can’t be shipped to grocery stores, you have to find a stand, or grow them yourself. I think some ppl have never had a truly ripe peach in their entire lives. I just planted several new peach trees this year..the inappropriately named “Black Boy” peach I’m super excited about, it’s blood red! I got a mini watermelon for my chickens today! Hey, grow a French Charentais And Israeli Galia melons, both are taste sensations!
hahaha Cog Hill 40 may be the new Mayberry Farm ! Love that you will be havin' some friendly new neighbors. you might hav to have an open house meet and greet with them.
I have to laugh when Jason in his response or whatever he contributes to the conversation repeats what Brooke just said. I've never heard anyone do that. You're a hoot, Jason. Love your videos. Looking forward to you'all developing the new property. Wishing you much success.
Did you save the peach pits? They can be dried thoroughly, placed in pint or quart jars. If you boil a soup pan of water add 12-18 pits to make healing tea. Drink it by the pint until it has a metal taste, then stop. It changes your ph to heal your body. It was a favorite. You can reuse them several times and they are still effective.
Your indoor dogs would love the tile floors much better than the radiant floors! Up here on Long Island, NY, we get about 3-4 weeks a year of humid summer heat in the 90's ( since we are surrounded by water it is much more humid than the rest of NY) I know about humidity! God Bless!
I have an uncle that is 102, just planted his garden. Can you imagine all he’s seen? He was in WWII. Lived on a farm in his younger years with his mom, dad, and siblings.
We love Chad at Adler Farm! He talks about yall on his vids a lot! Having y'all together in one place would be the coolest!!! We love all yall.
Be sure to include a large pantry in the new house - with that big garden, you are going to need the storage!!!!
Especially with all the freeze dried products you will have.
I’m turning 65 soon and I remember when we got our first tv. It’s was black and white and we had 3 channels.
And the two different antennas!
It sounds like God is really opening the doors for you to have an incredible community on your new farm!
With or without MaryCarl I could watch you guys everyday. Thanks for sharing your life with us.
TV antennas on the roof of the house that you had to twist to get a picture on the tube. 😀❤
This is like chatting with friends! Brooke and Jason, you all are great! Missed MaryCarl tonight! Be safe and be blessed!🙏🙏🙏💖💖
It is isnt. Sitting around a table chatting with family and friends.
Between the Wright Brothers first flight and the Moon landing, was about 60 years. That is mind blowing when you think about it.
Ya'll are awesome! So glad you like the goodies! The Cog 40 are really shaping up!
MaryCarl should be a speaker for the kids if there any Kids there how to raise and handle Chickens
Great idea. I could use a video like that to show the grandkids before they come over to see the new chicks. She would be a great teacher.
Maybe one day she will want to start a channel of her own geared to other kids or other homeschoolers or farm kids :) The possibilities are limitless.
I think all the animals on your farm look amazingly healthy.
My momma was born in 1922! My grandparents in the 1890’s! It never ceases to amaze me how things have changed since those times…
The curl that grows on the top of the garlic, you can cut it off and chop it up and use it in stir fries . They are called Scapes. They are so good.
“Percolate”. Refers to liquid passing through something like a filter. “Perc tests” measure how the liquids move through the type of soil you have.
Thanks that makes sense
When you go to Front Royal take the time to take the drive on the skyline drive through the Shenandoah mountains. The scenery is breathtaking.i had a friend that lived there and my brother lived in Winchester area for 10 years. My late wife and I went there on our honeymoon back in 1979.

Yes Missouri is a great idea! Y'all and Chad are brilliant!
Jason I liked the way you described how full you were "I'm just full as a tick". We were talking about how our parents and grandfather lived just the other day. Brooke you're right do what you love and love what you do in life.
Perk is short for percolation test. Think of how long coffee takes to percolate through coffee grounds
I loved that show Anne with an E. I love watching all those shows dated in the 1800 and earlier prarie shows.
As your talking about those peaches and Jason is just poppin them in his mouth shaking his head agreeing and say unhummm unhummm😆😆
Have a good evening 🌷🌷🌷
Nothing worst then eatting a dried, flavorless peach! I bet those are great freeze dried.
👊🏻 😎 Gonna get y’all up here for sure!
I grew up on a farm and we cooked on a wood stove mom made bread three times a week
The good old days. A beautiful ❤️ simpler Life. It was wonderful till the 60s ,💕💕🌹🌹
Fried peach pie. Yummy. That flavor at the end is like Zing. Loves
Me and other subscribers to other channels, mention Mary Carl a lot to suggest that they ask her questions about their chicken issues. lol We admire her knowledge and flaunt it to other UA-camrs. Love your Cogcast today!
My wife and I love Anne of Green Gables. It is such a wonderful story and can understand why MaryCarl would like it so well!
I just love your end music!!!!!!!
With everything the way it is now I would love to go back in the old time where it is horse and buggys.
Jason your so funny...Brooke is describing the freeze drying of peaches while your just snacking on them with a happy face..awesome 😊
I absolutely love your joyful enthusiasm for life!! Watching y’all is truly like a breath of fresh air!! I’m so blessed to have found all of your media outlets! Keep shining
👍🏼♥️☀️♥️👍🏼
It sounds like an amazing place. This place is big enough that one year you could do a meet and greet
I live up in NY and the radiant floors are wonderful. Nothing like waking up to a freezing floor makes you not want to go anywhere so the heated floors are a blessing.
My mom would spend lol day Saturday baking bread for the family and to sale. The smell of bread baking takes me back to my childhood days.
My grandparents were born in the late 1890's. And my grandson was born in the late 1990's. I was born in the early 1950's and it was a wonderful time.
I wonder what Peaches and the goats would think about getting the occasional freeze dried fruit/veggie treat ?
Finish the restoration of your Air Stream Trailer and use it to go to the Homesteader Gatherings. That would be a blast🌝

Just like the changes with the telephones... it's amazing. Party lines to being able to see one another while talking from Oceans apart!
Well done, another enjoyable podcast. Thank you 😃

I prefer modern health care.

To be absolutely honest l personally enjoy listening to the podcast so much. Really happy that you started this venture.

Front Royal has motels there. Near the fair ground. Second choice is Winchester a short drive.
You two are so funny. Your authenticity and just real goodness make your podcast always enjoyable no matter what the topic. :)
Enjoy your podcast! God bless your family!
Oh my...I love that show Anne from green gables. I wish there was more episodes. You and Brooke are so fun to watch too. Ty
Love Jason's laugh
I also remember going to town to watch the first landing on the moon. We lived 5years with no tv and radio, one station during the day. Evening one station that would come in from 2000 miles away. We lived as a family!
Loved this podcast! I agreed with so much of what y'all said,. Brooke, I'm 65, think like I'm 25, and act like I'm 12! That feeling won't change.
My grandpa was born in 1911.
And grandma was born in 1915.
They use to talk every sunday night about how things were as they were growing up.
I truly love your Podcasts and videos.

God Bless!
Y’all, y’all, y’all…..stop!!!! My mouth is actually watering over them peaches!!!!!
It is a percolation (perk) test to see how long it takes for water to be absorbed into the ground.
I love Volkswagen bus 🚌. So much fun to drive 💕💕🌹
Eastern NC is hot and humid too. The sky is grey with humidity very often.
Brother, right here in East Texas, the humidity is generally killer.
Things are rolling right along for you all. All your plans sound great. But when you talk about cement floors, my feet start to ache. Get a rubber mat to use for long standing. 💖
Love your family! Fun to watch your progress with your homestead. Keep up the good work.
Conecuh sausage cut up in pieces cooked in a covered pan with a little water in the bottom with grits and eggs is one of our favorites for breakfast (or when we have breakfast for dinner)!

I live in northern Minnesota and we get humidity but nothing like you guys.
I grew up in Front Royal (many years ago) I now live in Texas - but I know EXACTLY where that is!!
Very excited to follow along with your new farm adventure 😁 My husband and I love Anne with an e, we have watched the series 2 times and will probably watch it again🤣😂🤣

Omg my son makes this beard oil that is awesome. I will have to have him send you some when they get it back in stock.
I would love to try it!!

I love freeze dried watermelon.. the flavor was so concentrated...
God Bless!
