  • "I've Got a Secret" celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the Hollywood film industry with a special program including film clips never before seen on television, plus participants from the early days.
    This second segment features clips from several Oscar-winning films and an appearance by Oscar-winning director Mike Todd.
    Program hosted by Garry Moore with panelists Bill Cullen, Jayne Meadows, Henry Morgan, and Faye Emerson.

    Thanks to todays restoration techniques great classics like HIGH NOON can now be seen in better picture quality than that seen by early cinema audiences!

    Allan Sherman was the I've Got A Secret producer who later did comedy songs on his album My Son the Folk Singer.

    That party for Around The World in 80 Days became legendary for becoming as Liz Taylor claimed an "Unmitigated Disaster!" The party got out of control and afterward mike Todd said in his defense, " They can't arrest me for throwing a bum party!"

    Mike Todd died in a plane crash a little over 5 months after this originally aired.

    The silent movies were not seen at their best here. Watching modern restorations, from cleaner source prints, with new, carefully prepared scores, can be a startling experience. Also, the overacting in many of the earlier silents eventually gave way to more subdued acting by the 1920s. Furthermore, cinematography and editing became as creative as they would be in classic sound movies.

    Actually it IS the Bible...Revelation speaks of the grapes of wrath. (Rev chapter 14 starting with verse 19. )Steinback used a lot of Biblical allusions and, Obviously, the Bible predates Steinbeck.
