Whaaaaaat? Don't like rootbeer??? I love rootbeer. It's funny to hear someone say it tastes like medicine. Goes to show that we get used to certain flavors that are common wherever we are from. Very interesting!
I lived in Sedona for 6 years, and never experienced a Vortex. But that was before it was a big thing. I think it's the warm sunshine and scenery that energizes people. I liked root beer when I was a kid , because I felt big like an adult drinking beer.
Root Beer is one of my favourite drinks, we have a poor selection in the UK but our local Sainsburys stocks Carters and Virgils. Really missing our time we spent in Arizona on our Route 66 trip years ago, making me want to book a trip right now!
I love being able to take home my leftover food in a box. I don't like wasting food, and it can be a good lunch the next day. I missed those boxes when I was in Europe.
Root beer was originally a medicine, both in Europe and the US back in the 1800's then it was turned into a soft drink in the US, but apparently it's flavor stayed as a medicine in Europe (not just in the UK)
Sedona is great. We went thru there in 93 on our way back to Vegas from the Grand Canyon/Flagstaff. Couldn't spend much time there because we had to catch a red eye flight back home from Vegas. There's another cool town down the road to the west called Jerome. It's an Old West mining town. We went thru there as well.
Happy to see that you are enjoying the great southwest and our beautiful state of Arizona. For your in formation Arizona is not normally this cold in winter.
In the olden days root beer was actually made with plants and roots not just "Root Beer Flavor". Specifically Sassafras root bark containing Safrole. The Safrole is now illegal but the "Good" brands still use Sassafras extract that's Saffrole free but the "Cheaper" more "Commercial" brands do not. Go into any grocery store and buy a commercial root beer and see if the flavor and smell is as strong or if it's much sweeter and syrupier. I for one love the "Medicin-ey" root beer because it tastes like real root beer.
A&W, Barq's, Mug's that kinda stuff. Not Stewart's (Which is my personal favorite, but again more "authentic" and I absolutely adore it) or Boylan or IBC. Heck maybe try the Stewart's actually if you can find it, maybe you'll like it.
Root beer is root flavored, traditionally made using the root bark of the sassafras tree.

Root beer is made from sassafras and sarsaparilla. Sarsaparilla used to be harvested and sent to Europe in the 17th century from colonial America because they thought it cured venereal diseases. 😂
My daughter and I spent a month in the Sadona RV park on the river downtown after we lost our home in a wildfire in 2012. I loved hiking all the local trails. On our last night there I began having chest pain, but we had reservations for a night at the Grand Canyon. After our visit there, we were heading back home after being on the road for three months. By the time we reached Texas, driving straight through, I knew I was in trouble but had to get my daughter back to Oklahoma because I thought I was having a heart attack. When we finally got a couple of hours West of Tulsa, I had to call friends to come to our rescue on the turnpike. They dropped me off at the hospital which had to transfer me to another where they removed my appendix.
Root Beer flavor is from the Sassafras tree root. They used to make root beer from Sassafras root, but I don't think they do anymore. Now it's synthesized from some other stuff.
JÄGERMEISTER, JÄGEREISTER, JÄGERMEISTER !!! Why you don't love ? In Germany, we kind of grow up with our herbs+alc :D Very, very intersting and entertaining series ! Thanks for your content, Emma & Alex !
A Sedona's Vortex is probably from the iron the red rocks. There is more magnetism in some areas from higher concentrations of iron, plus a vortex is always in a beautiful peaceful nature spot.
Try in Amish country root beer, the Amish make it and use yeast is used, take yeasty. Another suggestion is sassafras there is pop and tea. Appalachia has Ale soda.
Well hello again guys :) I think my late father visited Sedona along his RV travels. Don't believe I've heard of a vortex. But I'm definitely open-minded too. That burger looked delicious except I can't do cheese and especially spice. As far as root beer goes, I like it..but it's been 10 years since I had any soda. Great stuff folks. And HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
The popular american soda pop root beer is flat, sugary and foamy. You probably had a craft root beer, more of a bitter sweet exotic flavor with sparkling mineral water for a parched throat.
My wife is from England (Midlands) and she said the same thing - root beer tastes like medicine. Not sure what sort of medicine it is but to me Root Beer is the BEST soda in the world. IBC is some weird stuff though. If you want real some real Root Beer you need Richardson's from a tap. Barqs is a different type of Root Beer and I like it. My first time in Sedona was in 1969. I've been back around 5 times. I have a Brother that lives in Phoenix and Sedona is a short drive north (short drive for us, not you two, lol) Yes, we boondock a lot.

Well, that was enjoyable! And as far as root beer is concerned, I find that you pretty much have to be raised drinking the stuff to REALLY enjoy the stuff. If you ever want to give it one more go, however, I strongly recommend either "A&W" or "Dad's" brand of root beer. The "IBC" stuff you were drinking... swill, absolute swill. And that's all I have to say about that. BTW, a warm New Year's greetings from Henderson, Nevada!
Love your videos 🥰 If you ever get a chance to make it to the West coast US, you got to go and see The Redwood Forest and go through The Avenue of the Giants off Hwy 101 in Northern California. It’s truly a Bucket list place ❤️
Cindy Richelderfer I totally agree with you, among the places I visited and were worth the effort to go to are Sedona in Arizona, the Grand Canyon, and the Redwood national park in north California
Root beer is an American thing. In most videos I've seen of people from other countries trying root beer, the majority of people don't like it. I grew up on it. I enjoy it.
For root beer you need to try root beer float. Then the taste works, but you need ice cream inside. (Oh, and as another poster commented, try A&W root beer).
Hehe - a year later, but yes, try A&W - but you probably still won't like it - it's root beer and it tastes like medicine to you! I guess my medicine as a child was a horrible chemical cherry flavor - glad it wasn't real cherry flavor :)
I LOVE root beer but its definitely an acquired taste. It's best in a frosted mug. Which means you put the mug in the freezer let it get frosty cold then pour the root beer in it. It's better ICE ICE cold.
My parents took us to the states when I was 13 (many many years ago) and we all decided to have Root Beer floats having seen and heard of them so much. They arrived we all had one taste and pushed them away. Crazy thing is the dinner owner tried to force a free replacement on us (we ended up giving the value as a extra tip we are British after all :) as it was our fault ) so Root Beer horrid US customer service EPIC.
Hi guys, yet again another great video(still smiling while i type) lol, hope you found a good boondocking point somewhere, and i guess after that beer, you are missing a good old Thatchers lolol, Want to take time out to wish you both a Very Happy New Year ok, and enjoy every goddamn moment you have out there, ya`ll ain`t missing much here at home, a slight rise in temps at the moment, has been wet for a while, but the rise in temps is welcome for a few days at least. hey, finally getting to catch up on your adventures. Happy New Year!! Boondocking is loads of fun, or can lead to some really great spots, the fancy #vanlife kind. lol Hope it goes went well!!

Ya, when it comes to root beer it not the taste but just how many times you'll be taking a swig out of it until you've found yourself with an empty bottle or can of root beer. (this coming from a person who tried it for the first time not to long ago, and loves it).
Rootbeer is a Sassafras Root flavored beverage. And if I'm not mistaken Sassafras Root was indeed used as a medicinal treatment back in the colonial days, especially among Native Americans. But Rootbeer is an acquired taste if you're not used to it, and apparently no where but the US is accustomed to it. But it's as common choice for a drink to us as is Coca Cola and Dr. Pepper (which is a spicy cherry/prune flavored drink). Oh, I called Rootbeer as a beverage because it comes in two forms, the carbonated version, which is most common, and then a smoother, non-carbonated version, that's usually specialty bottled with the name of Sassafras something or other on it. A little has station just down the road from me 25+ years ago used to carry it. It was pretty good.
I believe it's actually the "wintergreen" flavouring in root beer that makes it taste like medicine to most people outside of North America. In Europe and a lot of Asia it's a flavouring used almost exclusively in dental products like mouthwash, dental floss, toothpaste. Sometimes it'll pop up in stuff like chewing gum or children's cough syrup.
Root beer in my opinion tastes like aged vanilla with possibly a hint of black licorice. Definitely not like cough medicine. Just get a regular root beer in the supermarket or at a fast food restaurant.
I find it fascinating that root beer is a novelty to some people. Root beer isn’t everywhere? It’s a rare thing only found in America? I’ve seen a couple videos where English people trip out over root beer.
Hey guys. I used to drive a chemical tanker out there before the big C got me. And parking up anywhere with 48 000lbs of sulfuric acid gets a bit tricky but it had to be done (due to the ever increasing stupid rules ). But you are right to wake up in some incredible places some how made it worth while.. Love the video are you coming to Oklahoma at all.
You must have seen some beautiful places on those journeys.. No plans for Oklahoma I’m afraid.. another trip for another time perhaps! The states is just too big! We want to see everywhere 🤩
You 2 are the greatest and i love watching your videos fun fun fun. I wish you 2 the best of luck. Shout out from Northern Virginia if you ever come by here come to my restaurant. O yea MUG root beer is my fave all the other ones I don't like
I stopped drinking root beer sodas as a kid years ago. I was a young teen and my mother had bought a case of them. It was summer and I was craving soda so I drank one after another, after another. I got so sick that to this day I have not again drank a root beer. And by the way root beer floats aren't all that great.
How long are you planning to be in Arizona ? And where are you two planning to go to next ? I live in Peoria Arizona and would love to meet you if possible, you are my favorite
root beer RULES! Brits taste buds are SSSSSSSSTRANGE. Every Brit equates the smell to medicine, so they automatically "hate" it. Smells nothing like medicine...I've never had a wintergreen/Vanilla flavored medicine in my life
@0:42 I know this video is from 2019, but ... I think it was the second time in one of your videos where you said, "I've never heard of location xy ..." You don't do research for your travels? For example, if you are on a beach vacation or a 3 day trip to Paris, having a notepad with all the places to visit is not essential, but you are on a road trip across the US. Do you flip a coin every day? I couldn't do it. When I had 2 or 3 weeks, I had a fixed schedule. Ok, I'm a little bit crazy, but when I imagine I'm missing something very important ...
I'm half a year late, but if you guys ever come back to Arizona, be sure to go to Tucson. It's home to Saguaro National Park, which are the giant cartoony cacti. It also has Colossal Cave, the Sonoran Desert Museum, and Mount Lemmon which is in the Coronado National Forest. Plus really amazing mexican food, and the birthplace of the chimichanga. www.nps.gov/sagu/index.htm colossalcave.com/ www.desertmuseum.org/
Culture differences are striking! Rootbeer in the western US is loved and those in England hate it. I grew up with Sarsaparilla, basically rootbeer, because it originated from the Sarsaparilla root which is native to the Americas and was medicinal. Sorry you hate it but we are Americans!
Because Americans do not have any 'medicine' that tastes like root beer (if we do, it's certainly not widespread), so we've never had that ability to equate the taste of root beer with "medicine". If you grew up with root beer only tasting like root beer, not like anything else, you'd likely not think of it negatively. :) However, I remember skimming through some of the history of root beer and I do believe it (the root?) was originally used by Native Americans for medicinal purposes.
The reason it's popular is we don't use root beer as a flavoring for medicine but rather we commonly use cherry instead. Also due to the fact that we grow up drinking that now and then. We have no negative memories of it like you get with medicine from being sick. There are some drinks I have tried that have a distinct medicine flavor taste that says cherry flavor but taste absolutely disgusting to me.
Should go to a regular fast food place and get root beer there. That definitely does not taste like medicine. It's not th e same thing I feel. I've tasted a version of what you have and it was gross not at all like what I'm used to.
Ok i can vouch for your dislike of rootbeer. My ex husband was from Europe. 1 night during dinner, he was happily sneaking food off my plate as usual. He grabs my gigantic cup of root beer and took a HUGE swallow. He immediately spit it all over the table and starts cursing at me. I was so confused! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 so yea, apparently medicines across the world use this flavoring, however in the US, we'll have bubble gum, fruit flavors, or something minty. So here was my husband thinking I was some kinda weirdo drug addict drinking cough syrup. I had to show him the bottle of root beer to prove I didn't need rehab 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Dandelion & Burdock is one that you either like or hate, no half way. I really like root beer but the selection in the UK is very limited and the big stores seem to only get naff ones in. BOYLAN NATURAL ROOT BEER is the best one I've found but is very difficult to get hold off at a reasonable price.
IBC Root Beer??? I wouldn't feed that to my enemy. lol MUG Root Beer isn't bad, DAD'S is the best, Richardsons is good as a Root Beer Float. Barqs has bite and has a different taste than most other Root Beer I grew up on Root Beer, therefor I love it. My wife said it tastes toothpaste. But then she likes Ribena and I think it is absolute crap. It's all what you get used to I guess.
Whaaaaaat? Don't like rootbeer??? I love rootbeer. It's funny to hear someone say it tastes like medicine. Goes to show that we get used to certain flavors that are common wherever we are from. Very interesting!

I love being able to take home my leftover food in a box. I don't like wasting food, and it can be a good lunch the next day. I missed those boxes when I was in Europe.
You can do this in Europe at almost all places as well you just have to ask for it.

Kim Adams definitely A&W!
IBC isn't even that fancy
Barq's is way better than a&w
It's hard to beat an A&W in a frosty mug
Sedona is unreal! Glad y'all enjoyed it!

I just subscribed. Nice video. I live and shoot a lot of my videos in
Lake Havasu. Also a beautiful place.

The Tucson Studios are cool. I used to live in Tucson 20 years ago...HOT HOT HOT
IBC root beer is the best.......guess it's flavor I'm used to...:)))
Root beer is an acquired taste for all us non USA ers. A bit like Dandelion and Burdock in the UK - nothing quite like either in Australia.
Culture differences are striking! Rootbeer in the western US is loved and those in England hate it. I grew up with Sarsaparilla, basically rootbeer, because it originated from the Sarsaparilla root which is native to the Americas and was medicinal. Sorry you hate it but we are Americans!
If I ever get sick in Europe at least I know I’ll like the medicine 😂
$3 for parking! 😤 But... but... look at the view! 🤣
Root beer is the best soda, and if you don't agree you're wrong.
The better view is the airport saddle
Root 3, either you love it ae hate it!! I love it!!
Try the A & W brand, 😄
Okay I agree IBC isn't the best root beer. For the best find A&W root beer also try an A&W root beer float.
If you don't like root beer you should try cream soda.
For a moment I thought you said boondoging which sounds like the kind of video creepy T watches in his spare time
😂
You need to try Moxie soda!
Looked like gabbie and Bryans van at the end rip
Should go to a regular fast food place and get root beer there. That definitely does not taste like medicine. It's not th e same thing I feel. I've tasted a version of what you have and it was gross not at all like what I'm used to.
Try "Not Your Dads Root beer" you can get it from Aldi. It has alcohol in it.
Well that automatically sounds better haha
I always thought that root beer was ginger beer. Root ginger? Clearly I was wrong. I am a Brit so what do I know
Walmart parking Lot was Boondocking.........
Look! A rare-sight... An Englishman driving! Hihi 😁 Welcome to 'Murica! 😅
I had to show him the bottle of root beer to prove I didn't need rehab 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
after eating beans on bread i wouldnt think rootbeer would be tastey either
Get some good ole canned root beer from a vending machine and pour it in a cup over some vanilla ice cream and thank me later 😍
IBC is one of the best ones! I don't get why you guys don't like root beer in other countries.
Don't go with "designer" root beer. Get an A&W. I am sure there are foods in the UK we would find disgusting. LOL.
Oh don’t you worry about that. We have plenty of disgusting food/sodas over here too 😂
Dandelion & Burdock is one that you either like or hate, no half way.
I really like root beer but the selection in the UK is very limited and the big stores seem to only get naff ones in. BOYLAN NATURAL ROOT BEER is the best one I've found but is very difficult to get hold off at a reasonable price.
As soon as I read the title of this video, I said to myself, "They're going to say it tastes like medicine." Way to be predictable.
Originally Coca Cola was used as a medicine and you had to go to a pharmacy to get it at their soda fountain.
root beer reminds me of germolene
IBC Root Beer??? I wouldn't feed that to my enemy. lol
MUG Root Beer isn't bad, DAD'S is the best, Richardsons is good as a Root Beer Float. Barqs has bite and has a different taste than most other Root Beer
I grew up on Root Beer, therefor I love it. My wife said it tastes toothpaste. But then she likes Ribena and I think it is absolute crap. It's all what you get used to I guess.
You guys must have some good medicine 😂 the medicine i had as a kid taste nothing like rootbeer.
