Yeah don't break the tip. The tip of my pen got broken in an accident and it broke my heart because it was a gift from my grandma. I still have it I just can't use it because the way it scrapes now is just bad for my sensory issues

In my work place we have glass pens ( fun fact in French it’s called a glass feather ( plume de ver ))and sometimes we demonstrate how it works and because we use a natural ink( one of my coworkers makes it ) we actually just wash it in water ( under the tab and let the water run on it ) so I was a bit surprised when you used some glass cleaner but I guess it makes sense lol
I cannot believe I've been spending the past 5+ years cleaning glass pens with a toothpick and tissues to get it perfectly clean when this was always an option. It just never clicked that glass cleaner would clean a glass pen just as well as a glass window
Just me or my first thought when she poured the glass cleaner was “That looks nice and drinkable-“ Edit: How the f did I get 3k likes- Stop liking this lol
I love the design of your nails. I have younger kids so unfortunately the pen would get broken. I can't wait until my basement is finished then I can have my craft room.
I saw this while ago, and I thought it was cool! I got a glass pen today, and the glass cleaner does work. Water seems to work too. It’s been fun trying out the glass pen for the first time!
I got a pretty good one for about 10 or 20 dollars on Amazon. I'm pretty clumsy too, I've even dropped it a few times, it's more or less okay and still writes/draws good
THATS SO COOL! 🤩 i’ve been begging my parents to buy me a glass dip pen since last year, but they are too expensive, and i can only draw with pencil and pen and i have never been able to color my art because for some reason i always hate the way it looks because idk how ro blend and shade colors correctly so im kind of scared if i did get a glass dip pen because i wouldn’t know how to use it correctly
Something else with this specific model of glass pen is that if it's having trouble putting down ink, try rotating it a little. I saw a short breaking down the mechanics of a similar one, and the grooves on that pen each worked like the cartridges in ball point pens, and only one groove is releasing ink at any one time, like some quirk of how gravity acts on the ink or the ink needs to be wicked off into the paper like the towel wiping off the cleaned pen in this demonstration. Also, if more than just the tip of your pen needs this cleaning and there's some significant shatter protection, like the pen's made out of the same sapphire as high-end watch glass, then putting it into an ultrasonic cleaning basin, one designed for either watches or eye glasses might be a big help, as this would bombard all the dirt and grime on whatever you put into it and many watchsmiths will put the pieces in there for cleaning of the outermost surfaces where hand tools simply can't reach, like in between individual links in a chain wristband.
Fountain pens are certainly something to clean, it took me hours (and yes i made sure EVERYTHING was dry, i used rubbing alcohol multiple times at the end to make sure i didnt have water in the tip, pushed it through with the ink well)
I can be dipped in ink which makes it reusable and more environmentally friendly, and it doesn't require any pressure, which makes it better for your hands and doesn't cause as much cramping from extended use.
Wow I never even heard of a glass pen in my life that is pretty awesome and when I see your videos like wow I got to get me a glass pen someday all three of my kids can draw really well during artists my kids love to draw and color with crayons awesome video
Oh wow. Who knew it was so difficult. Next can you show me a video on how to wash my hands or butter bread? You know just really break down the most basic of stuff for me.
Think this is only if you let a lot of ink dry up and cake onto your pen - even waterproof inks will come off with just water as long as you clean the pen immediately after use
i feel like you can use a smaller glass container or dilute the solution somewhat so it isn't using a cupfull of cleaner per wash. the way it is seems a bit wasteful
Everyone talking about 'what would you do if you dropped it', you would buy a new one, glass pens are quite cheap, i have two that came in a set with inks and other things for cheap

you can get it repaired so you can still use the one your grandma gifted you

Use water and a toothbrush
You can also just dip it in water while you draw so that the ink doesn't dry out
that does not work, my kits use waterproof ink. Probably with regular ink it would work

I have a glass dip pen and I find that hot water works well, sometimes I take a brush to the grooves to speed up the process.
She says her inks are waterproof which makes sense since she does watercolor paintings.
i think the best thing about glass pens is that you can leave them in liquid and they won’t rust or bend

whats the point? its just a worse ballpoint pen that doesn't react to pressure and needs to be dipped in ink
