- This week, I'm back to explore the mines I found in my last video! The snow melted, my friend Johnny was able to come to town, and we went exploring!
This is the last mine exploration for a while, and I hope you enjoy. Next week I'm back with lots of building renovations I've been working on! I hope you subscribe and follow along for the ride!

THANK YOU!!
Welcome back! If you haven't seen my search for the Silver Spear Mine, it has some important context for this video: ua-cam.com/video/-6G-Zqh3HEQ/v-deo.html
What do you want to see next?

Can the Cerro Gordo hoodies be purchased online?
Yeah, try ro climb the highest nearby mountain😍
Hey brent im morten from denmark 🇩🇰 🇩🇰 looking forward to the Silver mine .. love the Channel
A short hole golf course? The holes could be a couple of mine openings. You would have some amazing tee boxes on some of those mountains. 🏌️♂️
*Please* get a respirator for when you explore the mines. All that dust you're kicking up is in a large part free silica which permanently binds to your lungs and damages them over time. That's the same stuff that kills potters, construction workers, and along with coal dust, miners too.
I know I posted this before and I'll probably post it every time but I think your longevity is important.
Yes! Exactly my thoughts on every one of his mine exploration videos!
yes please
An air monitoring device would come in handy as well.
Hantavirus with all the droppings too.
I totally agree man you need to get a respirator and keep them lungs fresh and clean !! Don’t go over board to impress your followers, your longevity is more important !!❤️
At least once in almost every video I have to remind myself that we are seeing the video, that means Brent survived.
YUP!
Haha, me too!!
I feel myself getting so anxious when he's exploring mines by himself
This comment is so overused on every single video, I can't even tell who the original person is that made that comment but the rest followed in suit
Me too
I bet that bobcat is wearing a pair of 1800 levis.
Lol!!
Using them to keep the kits warm!
Using them for bedding
Probably made its bed outta three pairs
😂
Man, please please please dont push to hard for a UA-cam clip. Life is precious and very very delicate. Take care, loving your videos.
🦊🚬~sounds good to me . . .
True but sometimes life is about taking risks and chances you may not feel comfortable with. Learn from experience and move on!
@@S550STANG ~that sounds good too🚬
I don’t disagree, life is for living. It’s just pretty tricky to move on if you are stuck down a mine shaft halfway up a mountian😂🤣
i dont think Brent is doing it for the yt clip. It's obvious that he loves the mines and the adventure. I wouldnt be surprised if we learn that he goes into the mines more than half of the time without a camera, better yet, find his levis jeans and not being able to document it
all i could think was “If Brent doesn’t post for a while are we suppose to get a search team and find him & Johnny in one of the mines?”
I always wonder this too lol
I swear we were searching officer, not trespassing
It would be wayyyy too late for that unfortunately
I think I would start looking in Tahiti first . LOL .

You know it's a serious episode when Johnny shows up.
Accurate.
Go, Johnny!
Could we get to know a little bit about Johnny? He seems like an interesting guy.
Yes, can we get a little more on Johnny's background please?
Little Johnny is going to get him killed...
In a Hundred years time, people are going to be wondering why there are bits of crashed drones all over the mountains.
LOL, that was pretty funny!
It survived! Unscathed
people will be wondering? I'd like to think it will be Drones finding their ancestors and trying to repair what's left of them, bringing them back to life.
i dont think they will know what drones were and they will be wondering and wondering and wondering
in 100 years all the crashed drone parts will have been recollected and reused by drones lol
Please be careful when you’re alone, I genuinely worry for you sometimes bro. I love this channel. I’m living through you vicariously.
I love how much you appreciate the history of this place. It couldn’t have gone to a better person.
As someone that has done winter hikes in the mountains, that snow covered cliff on the lower part of the hart camp was SUPER sketchy. You're lucky you didn't slip.
I hope he's tied off, but you are not shown that line.
I had to stop watching! But knew Brent survived of course, but my BP and HR went up if I had checked no doubt.
Brent, I have 2 brand new pair of Red Wing boots. They are size 10 1/2. If you can wear the I will send them to you. They are the 6" boots.
I’d send them
What size does Brent wear ?
@@tinytattoomike7943 size 11 but I will send these this week!
FYI, Red Wings tend to run large so most folks buy from 1 size to a 1/2 size smaller. 10 1/2 may end up perfect.
Whoa! That would be amazing. Thank you. I'm at PO Box 490. Lone Pine, CA 93545. Much appreciated!
Outstanding!
Johnny has a little bit of mountain goat in his DNA, skips up the hills easily😎😎😎
I sure hope he doesn't
Probably what happens when you get too lonely.
Almost a little to easily
Must be a local. Maybe Native American. You get up into those mountains, and it’s so gorgeous and freeing. When I was younger, I’d run like the wind up those trails, and scramble over the rocks like a mountain lion. That fresh air & sunshine is exhilarating!

From the drone footage, it almost looks like the wreckage at the edge of the cliff might have slid down from where you think the hoist house was. You can see timbers sporadically going up the hill. So maybe that wreckage down below actually IS the hoist house.
I was thinking that too
Was thinking the same thing.
I thought the same as well.
I was going to make the same obsevation. If he could have flown his drone below the cliff there may have been more wreckage at the bottom.

I love how these people who have passed away got remembered this way. Im an European but following this vlog makes that town feel more and more alive even though its abandoned for such a long time
Honestly man your talks at the end of videos, reflecting on life and reflecting on your time in this town and seeing how those talks have evolved has to be my favorite part about this channel and you !
Coming from a fairly close city to NYC you don’t really get those perspectives anywhere els and they teach me a lot about what it means to be human ❤️
Fully agree.
True that
as someone else living close to NYC, I agree!
Well stated Connor.🍺🍺
Cheers Connor 🍻
Hey Brent, I've been an avid watcher of your unfolding Cerro Gordo tale from the very start. Lately I've been noticing you steadily taking greater potential risks. We wouldn't want to see you get hurt, or worse.
This! I was literally scared for you in this episode. We need you alive and well for Cerro Gordo to prosper.
That's what folk do who don't sit in a basement all day living through others maybe you lot should get out there and take some you maybe happier. Nothing worse than nanning mom sorts they ruin young boys and make them into sissies..
I'm a skilled climber, and it is awful to see how they making their trips. Bad shoes, bad handling of the ropes (throwing in the snow), mounting the rope on random items, don't connect the rope on the belt, climbing under fragile structure. It's so bad to see. I saw accidents from more advanced climbers. But this is Russian roulette.
Guy just wants those views and likes for YT. If he dies then so be it ...he does not give a damn so why should you?
@@anwesharry Cerro Gordo will not prosper without water. You are stupid af. Guy wasted his money and his invester's money.

Would be cool if he had seperate series, one on the history of Cerro Gordo and surrounding area, one on rebuilding the town and another for the cave exploring, 3 ten minute videos per week, this dude would have mad stacks of cash for Cerro Gordo with the views he'd be getting....
@@foodin5ish I agree, but I think he said he only got Internet connection when he drove into town. I think the whole uploading thing is an issue.
Hey Brent. I love watching your progress. You need to be careful. A lot of folks depend on your weekly content. As a side note I was looking at the USGS Geologic Map of the Cerro Gordo Quad. It has a “Silver Spear” mine annotated just north and slightly west of the townsite. It might be about one to one and half miles. Right below the radio towers. You probably have the map “Scientific Investigations Map (SIM) 2851. Cheers.
Hey my man. I just saw your channel featured on the national French television TF1. You're such a lucky man for living in such a big place and for sharing it.
Hands down THE best channel on UA-cam. The beauty of the landscape and the rich history being uncovered is so captivating. Brent's narration is perfectly to the point and you can hear his passion in every word.
Almost as good as Bald and Bankrupt.
The fact you’ve touched over 700k people with the tiniest sliver of history of these stories and people. Its more than I think they could have ever asked for. Always love the videos man!
How many drones have you gone through?
hahaha I wondered too
Brent:yes
If he is using the one im thinking,
its pretty durable.
The auto follow is cool.
@Will Wallace oh its the phantom? I thought perhaps the new drone that has a gpu in it. Cant think of the name.
It survived that! It's quite durable. It just gets confused sometimes on auto-follow mode on when to stop and runs into things. I have extra propellers and such, but this crash didn't do any damage...luckily.
The "structure " down the cliff looks like it simply fell from above.
Concur.

That's what i think too
always clear the loose obstructions away before entering a cave or mine. you were just begging for all that stuff to come crashing down on top of you at every mine you visited in this video. its better to let it fall in and dig it back out afterward than to have it kill you because you were too impatient.
That bristle-cone pine you were looking at -- that could be thousands of years old. I believe the oldest known one in California a is 4,850+ years. Imagine what it has seen ;)
yeah it was a bristle-cone. They are found all over the high sierra and eastern slopes of the sierra. The Owens valley is on the southern end of its territory.
That may be Piñon, or Bristlecone. Bristlecones are not found in the Sierras, but the White mountains, towards Nevada. You should visit. The best are at around 11,000ft elevation. Be prepared to drive dirt roads, but it’s paved to the Tourist Center. They are amazing, and what a view of the Owens Valley!
Came here just to search for bristle-cone pine, was not disappointed. Hello fellow nerds.
Imagine how many men have peed on it!
Supposedly the location of the oldest one is kept secret. Wouldn't it be a trip if that one is it?
It would be so rad if you started to re plant trees around Cerro Gordo, and bring the wildlife and nature back up to its prime before the people got there, you videos are so rad and I love watching them! I can’t help but think how pristine that wilderness would have been and how tripped it is of life around the town, it would be cool to see a come back with some trees! It appears all the trees of the last went down into the mines lookin for silver!
“So I am going to avoid sliding to my death today. “ As he steps on wood, almost sliding to his death. I seriously worry about him . He takes a lot of risks that I wouldn’t even consider...
Yes, I question many of the precariousness of these situations. @24:00 he is walking across this snow covered slope.
@@funkymojo111 he was wearing a helmet tho
Finally, people who think like me. I couldn't watch at some points. Unfortunately, if the mines don't get him, the cliffs will.
Place is a ghost town for a reason, this guy is out of his mind.
If he continues like this, he will not grow very old, I'm afraid. Why does he takes so much risks, I wonder? Is it the deadly UA-cam fever, that killed so many young people already?
I just recently seen a video about how to deal with a Bobcat.
All you have to do is grab it by the neck with both hands, just hold it far away from your body as it will try to go for your head, then simply start to swing it around and let go when u reach a decent speed.
REALLY !!!!!!!
Thanks Brent for bringing all this to us and sharing your life and home with us. Hope you stay Safe in these weird times!
You bet! Thank you for checking out the videos. Appreciate that!
Every episode is like doing a new chapter on Cerro Gordo in History class.
Lads you need rope protectors for where your rope. Runs over rock at the entrance. Old fire hose works well, or just a rucksack
He needs a ton of equipment. The last couple of videos of his I have watched I realized that he is going out to these places with virtually nothing. He should be carrying a day pack with first aid, a flashlight, and much much more.
I really wonder what they use for anchors?I notice i don't see any kind of belay rapel device,am I missing something?these are obvious things that are essential.
Yeah, the whole operation seems to be super unsafe, before you even consider they are going into collapsed tunnels.
They mentioned wanting dynamic rope. I hope it’s for a top rope. 😬
Absolutely.
Next time, TAKE THE OFFERED HAND rather than suggest moving structure directly over your head.
Yeah, probably not the smartest. Cave spurlunking is dangeous enough, no need to add stupidity.
Brent, stay safe! We want to see the hotel, and you're the only one that can give it to us!!!
It's why I'm glad Brent & Johnny are using better safety gear now. It came after the comment about 'who likes cramped holes like this?' and me thinking 'cavers!' and then onto that teachable moment. Sometimes it's better not to take the hand, if the hand is your safety & meant to be minding rope. And the rope is good because if the beam Brent was standing on gave way, the rope prevents a nasty fall. But I've been in situations like that and it's hard not to assume everything's collapsing, and try to grab onto something, especially if that something isn't stable/secure. With falling stuff, it's usually best to hug the rope & wall until the noise stops.
And I've been watching the Mountain Men show, in which I leared yep, it's probably best not to play with the mountain lions. Glad we ate all the ones in the UK, and I think I'll stick to cougars of the 2-legged kind.
I absolutely love that Johnny is mining ⛏ in converse 😁. I am a converse diehard fan so just to see him tromping threw the snow and repealing down with them. That just makes me smile 😊 because I do everything in my chucks as well. They are wet and cold at times but they are definitely my glass slipper. ❤️
Everyone needs a Brent and Johnny!
Brent,
I appreciate these videos so much. Every week now I look forward to seeing what new discoveries await in Cerro Gordo. Really enjoy how you integrate the history into each video.
Please be mindful when exploring these mines.

I love your perspectives in life, in history, and your internal struggles and frustrations. I can see the love you have with this place. I sure hope you are telling someone outside your group where you are going spelunking and when you will check back in. If your UA-cam page suddenly goes inactive for a long time you are probably stuck somewhere in a mine. I have been spelunking and I imagine you guys have bruises all over your body for bringing us this video. Thanks for your hard work and risking your lives for our entertainment. Just letting you know we appreciate it.
We’ll really by the time anyone would 1 know hes not ok and 2 get to where he is even just to the town and then find him after that would probably be 3-4 hours after he needs help
In another video they mentioned calling someone to let them know they got out once they left the mine. So hopefully they've been doing that every time.
I am impressed with your tenacity. Researching and then going out to see for yourself what is and isn't there. Be safe. I can easily see why this town and it's mines would be difficult to ever leave.

The tree looks like a Bristle-cone. That means is could be anywhere from hundreds to thousands of years old!
I would NOT be on a snow covered, steep area above a cliff! I truly wish you would have just a little more patience and wait till you can SEE the ground under your feet. You sir, have already used up more lives than a cat!

I've been watching for months and I'm just awestruck about how beautiful the place is. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
I think that hoist house of the hart mine had a deck. And that deck went down the mountain when it collapsed
Yup. Doesn’t look like there’s any way an actual structure could stand down there near the cliff.
That’s some curious footage even with snow that building would have been standing for hundreds of years and that would could have stood for a thousand years, l think people have been mining those mines for many more years then we know

You mentioned the fate of the previous owners and that Cerro Gordo took so much from them and that it would be hard for you to NOT compare yourself with them. But I want to remind you that there is one major difference between then and today, one major advantage YOU have: It is us. Your viewers, subscribers and fans of Cerro Gordo. For more than a century, this small mining town was not as known as it is today. It is known across the globe. And together with your loyal subscribers and patreons, you are not alone - like the same previous owners were. You have thousands of people standing by you and helping you to fund your dream.
