  • In this video I continue my descent down the Jefferson Chimney here at Cerro Gordo. The adventure took hundreds of feet of rope and multiple days. It didn't go exactly as I hoped, but in the end, I found something I've been looking for for a very long time!
Thank you all so much for the support over the past 18 months. If you haven't already, I hope you'll subscribe to the channel. Lots more mine explorations, building renovations, and historical walks in the near future!

I have to say, my one recurring concern when you make vids going into the mines is that you don't seem to use respirators. Given the lead content of much of the surrounding minerals and dust, I think it would go a long way towards protecting yourself and your team.

Next time a small partial piece of Levis is found, soak it in water and see if it can be laid out flat/flatter, and see if it dries flat.
I'm sure condition of the cotton and fiber rot, will make a huge difference for it to work. Some pieces may look better dried flat than dried crumbled up.
