Maybe the best way to explain it is like this: Imagine playing a really awesome driving game and you're in a tightly-packed race, looking to pull off a spectacular piece of driving and manoeuvre in and out of the pack and take the lead car on the inside with a marvellous and daring overtake right on the apex... Imagine how shit that would feel if all that was reduced to pressing both trigger buttons together! This system's taking away control from the best part of playing Ace Combat.
thank you Mr. Gamond :) the FAL was the weapon that I was looking for cause I can't tell the diffrences about those 2 weapons except that the FAL is a one round burst weapon and the other one mostly fully automatic.... and we also invented another great weapon... the P90 ;) you will probably recognize it by its weird shape :) and it's also really nice to know that my country provided support :) big things come in small packages ^^
@wooterz The game gives you a lot of assistance to keep up with enemies when going into the Dogfight mode that is new to the series with Assault Horizon. But that is bloody necessary in my opinion considering the crazy maneuvers some of them pull off. If you don't touch the controls you will still lose track of them. When flying and fighting the "regular" way - with the enemies just being surrounded by a red triangle indicating a missile lock-on - there is no assistance at all.
i personally think that ace combat zero was one the best. i played the campaighn so many times and i never got bored of it. especially since i kept unlocking things.
@wooterz I sometimes have difficulties playing with this outside view on your aircraft because of the camera switching between the fixed back view to the view from under your cockpit/gun attachments. When going into dogfight - where the big circle in the middle appears - you need to follow your enemy but the game has a strong assist system, even if you don't touch the controls your plane follows the enemy to a serious degree, especially when you have a scripted dogfight.
I remember hearing the developers saying this was not necessarily the new face of the series this was just a trial to see if people approved. I would expect them to keep beneficial additions but remove the bad ones this will then end up as ac7

This has 2 be the best game in all of ace combat series because only in this game the directors have shown the character the player will be playing with(which they have not done in any games) and is also really really realistic!!
@Lenariet The one thing I miss is the tunnel. There's (nearly) always a tunnel in the Ace Combat games -- Megalith, Sudentor, Avalon Dam. But then again, as you rightly note, this game was going for realism rather than the "strangereal world" thing anyhow. I'm kind of meh about the decision, but whatever.
The good thing about this game is that it isn't a numbered sequel, so I like to think of it more as a spin-off, they'd probably go back to the old style for the next ace combat game, seing as so many people complained about this one. I kindas like it though, but then again I bought it for cheap, and I think of it as outside the main series.

The problem is that you are forced to engange some enemies in dogfight mode because the game "wants" you to follow them through ground structures at very low altitude. That's what I meant with scripted battles. You can't kill those enemies before you haven't followed them to a certain point/in the cinematic way the developers want you to (they just don't die or spam flares).
ace combat the current and all automatic, I remember the first ace came enemy of all that was hand I did what? I ended analog to me that dodge the horrible missile quality q but made me happy! who never played the ace 2 do not know what and despair with enemies en masse. I bet there is not many passed the test mission. Long live ace combat

It's the timer bro, in ace combat x if you do a certian pattern for on of the 3 variations for mission 7 you get limited fuel for your aircraft which is represented by a decrease in time alloted to complete the mission
God...after Ace Combat Zero, this series was never the same. This game feels like an air force version of Call of Duty... It doesn't have anywhere near the feel of the older games in this series. Project Aces needs to get back to Ace Combat installments set in Strangereal.
Can anyone tell me if you can change the view point in the game, as you could in the previous games? Such as view the missions from the cockpit, or trailing behind the plane? I am not a big fan of the moving camera......
So do you use one thumb stick for primary control or can you put it in advanced flight settings like the old games and fly with both thumb sticks and left and right bumpers?
I'll admit, the Easy or novice or whatever controls make things look cool and fun but idk if i can see me playing with the easy controls now that im used to the realistic control.
@fryanventu Defiantely not I'm afraid, but the thing that saves it for me is the soundtrack, absolutely epic! Hell, I'm even thinking of replaying it just for that reason! Also, the DFM sounds quite fun on multiplayer since it's more dynamic and not scripted, but I have yet to try it.

LOL, some of the sounds are the same that in Ace combat 5 and zero, like the missile alert one or the mission accomplished. they are awesome.
The actual OST is pure gold, but is nothing compared to listen a good electric guitar in the middle of a Dogfight. Fuck YEAH!

one thing (of several) in this game is lack of specific throttle control. its either after burner, air brake, or normal thrust. no dynamic

Absolutely! The terms "Ace Combat" and "realism" shouldn't appear in the same sentence. Falcon 4.0, LOMAC, Il-2 1946, etc. are what it's at.
