[JIKA RIG] A great rig for Saltwater Jetty fishing

JIKA RIG. In Japan, it’s also called "Leaderless Down Shot / Leaderless Drop Shot". A hook and weight are directly connected by a split ring, snap, or swivel. The action would look like a pegged Texas rig but not exactly the same.
The rig was originally invented for Bass fishing. Fishing cover to catch Largemouth Bass, this rig is a great option. But this rig is also working fine for Saltwater Rockfish fishing. In Southern California, I’m using this for Saltwater Jetty fishing catching Spotted Bay Bass, Barred Sand Bass, and Calico!

California Halibut: 22 inches total length.
Calico, Barred Sand Bass, and Spotted Sand Bass: 14 inches total length.

I didn't even consider the fall of the Jika rig would be more vertical compared to the Texas rig. That information is very helpful. I power fish mostly but am dedicating time this year to fishing jigs and finesse techniques more. Adding the Jika rig and Free rig into my rotation could replace a pegged and non-pegged Texas rig in some situation. Great information, thank you.

Jika rig is good to fish cover like weeds. It's vertically falling down (as long as we give it free-falling) and very good to punch through heavy vegetations. But when we reel in the rig, Jika rig could catch debris and grasses compared to Texas rig. Anyways, good luck! Thank you for watching.

Thanks! 👍 This rig "leaderless drop shot rig". Tokyo rig is hybrid model of a drop shot and this leaderless drop shot.
Btw, Tokyo rig is a copy of what we call Cherry rig introduced by Japanese local bass pro long years ago... I'd like to make a video introducing a Tokyo rig original, Cherry rig.
