There is a little punch on the bottom to increase oiler output.. I found a UA-cam site that showed it clearly. Have a 661 R ported by Mastermind in Tennessee. Don't use often but can't stop smiling when running it. ++ on canned fuel for storage.
You will like the acetate fuel, saws run really well on it. VP fuels has it in 5 gallon cans that are available at hardware/DIY stores at a significant savings over the 4 liter cans. It has a manufacturer #6232 or item #7796006, $103.99 USD from my local hardware store.
The 661 is an amazing saw especially for milling, for the milling I’ve done I’ve found milling chain doesn’t make any difference compared to a good sharp hand file standard chain. I’m also in the northeast in a lot of hardwoods and I’ve found for everything but milling a ported 70cc will do everything I need while being a lot lighter, so porting might be something to look into for the smaller saws
When you mill make sure you use a solid core bar and not the laminate Stihl lightweight bar. If you use the lightweight, it will crimp where the chainsaw mill clamps to the bar!
If you have any small airports nearby you can run 100LL (AvGas) in your saw. Runs great, no ethanol in it, and a very long shelf life. Just a thought to save you some money compared to the pre-mix.
I decided to go for the MS462 when we started milling. I needed a bigger chainsaw for felling but I also wanted to start milling. I use the 20 inch bar for felling because as you say, there is an optimum bar length for a saw, and the saw is balanced with this bar. I use the 25 inch bar for milling(balance doesn't matter), which is a bit smaller than your 28 inch one, but it suits my needs. I use an Oregon RD ripping chain for milling like Steve and it works well but I have only milled Spruce and Larch up until now and I keep it sharp. The Stihl Motomix fuel is great, no smoke from excess 2 stroke oil and it has no carcinogenic aromatics to breath in. I saw on the US website that it doubles your warranty but I can't find that on our UK site. Don't buy a cheap mill from China like I did at first as I couldn't get a Granberg during lockdown. The bar clamps were useless and the saw cut halfway through a M8 bolt before I noticed it was slipping. Luckily not my leg. Looking forward to your experiences of milling!
In Alaska (maybe the entire US?), For every quart of Stihl premix fuel you purchase with a new saw - you extend the warranty for one year. If you purchase one gallon of Shihl fuel with the saw - you extend the warranty 4 years. Is that also true in Canada?
Short bars?, I run a 32" on my 372 and 36 and 42" bars on my 395. And like said, you're going to want a ridged bar for milling, an Oregon bar or step up to a Cannon. Don't know what Stihl has for milling chain?, I'd run Oregon "RD" chain.

Personally, I would not use avgas because of its lead content (tetraethyl lead).
