    After recently retiring I have just picked up my cross stitch again after 25 years. Right now organization isn’t necessary because there isn’t enough to organized. Ohhh boy, there is so much out there I’d love to stitch. Thank you! I love the time I spend with you.

    I really don’t keep track I just keep all my charts and books on a bookshelf in my craft/office. Love your video. Always look so forward to them.

    I use XStitch app on my iPhone to keep track of my charts; love it, but you still have to remember to keep it current. It has saved me from purchasing duplicates several times (but not always! LOL). I enjoyed seeing all of your goodies from the retreat and also the things you are adding to your shop. I loved all of my purchases from you at Galleria; it was so fun. I always love seeing your cats and hearing about them, so thank you for sharing that. I agree that home is the best place to be; it is my happy place always. Happy stitching and designing.

      A lot of people are saying they have the app, but that they don't keep it up-to-date. It's how it goes! I am looking forward again to Galleria again next year. It's so much fun to see everyone (but also good to be back home.) Have a great weekend. - T

    Always enjoy the time spent with you. I have organized all my charts on an excel spreadsheet. I can print out the list by author or by chart title. It has saved me many times from purchasing a duplicate chart. I always carry the list in my purse when I shop or travel.

    I don't keep track of my charts except in my head which most of the time, is a lousy system! The plus is that when I am looking for a new project and I start going through my stash it is almost like Christmas re-discovering all the charts I have forgotten about! Glad you are back, and no noticeable black eye!

      Heads are very unreliable, aren't they? But, they never need batteries or a re-charge. Except for sleeping, I guess. Happy Halloween! - T

    Yeah, I don't keep track of my patterns either. I'm not that organized. However I don't think I have duplicated buying but a couple of times. Thanks for another great video. It was nice to hear how successful the raffle was for the animal shelter. Got to take care of all the fur babies 😊

    Great, now I have to air my dirty laundry and confess that if I kept track of my charts, I wouldn’t be buying duplicates. Lol. I got goosebumps when you said you raised over $3,000 for your shelter. That's amazing!! I used to volunteer at the SPCA in Oakland and then the municipal animal shelter in Oakland and people would ask me about what I do there and I'd tell them, "basically pick up poop," because let's be real, there's a lot! Good point about not specifying what you want your donation to go to, but now I kind of want to draft a will in which everything I have goes to an animal poop fund. ;)

    • @KittenStitcher
      @KittenStitcher  5 років тому

      Yeah, you know, it's a lot of poop. And you have to keep it picked up, because potential adopters don't like to be overwhelmed by the smell. If things look clean, adoptions go better. There's no end to it, though. :) YES A POOP FUND!!! :D - T

    Hi dear lady. So glad you had a lovely time at the retreat. I really enjoyed watching & listening to all the things you did & the photos at the end. I had already watched jens video where she was saying lovely things about you but also saying how exhausted she was after returning home. I’m so glad you managed to get some lovely stitching patterns, as you are always giving to others so much, that I’m glad this time you were on the receiving end. It’s lovely to go away sometimes so you can come back home to realise just how much the animals miss you ! Stay well & cheers for now 😉😘😍

    Dearest Teresa.... thanks for taking the time and organizing to make your videos! Enjoy them so! As of right now I have very few but am beginning to think I should figure some way to keep track! I’m sure I will get some ideas from posts here. I would be honored to finish a project you started, the birds, and donate to the shelter. We are lucky here in Mexico, spaying and neutering is free! Once a year I inventory my charts in my bullet journal - but I don’t update during the year so it quickly becomes disorganized. If I have a piece of fabric I’m going to use, I store the fabric and the chart separately until I kit them up. So glad you had a great time at the retreat and that you don’t have a black eye! Thanks for sharing your stitching and have a great rest of your weekend!

    Theresa, you are so funny! I love seeing your new glasses and the faces you made with them! Haha! I have tons of charts, as I have been cross stitching since about 1975. Yes, that puts me in the senior division. I usually have my favorite charts in one area, so I don't have to tear up the place looking for them when I want to stitch them. The rest are stored in large plastic see-thru containers. One day, maybe I will try to come up with some sort of organization, but I don't worry about it. Thanks for sharing about your trip. Sounds like fun. I am a homebody too. Traveling is fun, but you can't beat being at home! Hugs. Pam Miller

    Hi Theresa, My charts are in the felt Pudda that Ikea sells. I am sending you a Starbucks mug from Hong Kong! Please watch for it. I collect them too. They have lots of cute knick knacks here which you don't see in the US. Like a cute teddy bear all dressed up in the costume that the locals wear for the lion dance during the Chinese New Year. (And McDonalds has table service here and they have 24 hour delivery. No kidding!) I heard that Starbucks may make a special mug for the next Chinese New Year - which is the Year of the Pig.

    Wow...what an exciting time! Stitching stuff and more stitching stuff! Just a bit envious of the Shepherds Bush haul...one of my favorites too 😍
    Talking about fireplaces, love the ambiance of one, but not the mess or smell. I found an electric insert, not expensive, popped it into my fireplace, it uses a remote, instant ambiance when I want it.
    When I started stitching again, was off for a few years, I started using a composition book to keep track of my kits and charts. I also use it to date my completed pieces. I find that I am not quite as impulsive this time around, my tastes have changed 😍

    • @KittenStitcher
      @KittenStitcher  5 років тому

      Yes, our tastes change over time, definitely. I love stitching samplers, because I feel they're less dependent on trends of the time and tend to look great on my walls for years and years. :) - T

    Hi Theresa! It was so awesome to meet you at the Midwest Retreat. I was the one who introduced myself and said I enjoyed your video about putting different words to songs and One Ton Tomato. 😄 Thank you for creating a pattern just for us. I was happy to help buy tickets for the raffle and I even won two of them! ( the humble bumble stitcher delights and the little house early Americans series of patterns) I am grateful to have helped a wonderful cause.
    As far as keeping track of my stitching stuff I just started using the XStitch App. I need to get back to putting more patterns in it.
    I was also amazed by all the Shepherds Bush patterns. I found two Utah Samplers that I took since I live in Utah. I don’t think I had ever seen them in their store. I’m about 40 minutes from The Bush (that’s what utah Stitchers call it 😊) thank goodness. If I was too close it would be very dangerous to my wallet. Unfortunately I am 15 minutes from 123stitch but I restrain myself fairly well from ordering all the time. It’s great to not have to pay shipping
    because I can do pick up.
    I’m so glad to be home too. I picked up a bad cold right after getting back and I just want to hunker down and watch old movies, stitch and read my books. Hopefully you can relax too. 😊

    hello and welcome home. What a fun video....I love seeing all the goodies...it lets me live vicariously. Living in rural Nova Scotia there is no LNS and getting to the retreats is a challenge so I appreciate all the news. That doesn’t mean that I can’t shop the world😂I just received my stitcher’s pillow and my stitcher’s folder from HumbleBumble. They are on my Instagram @stitchingqueen if you want to see them. They are absolute works of art. Just a note on your fireplace...we stopped burning wood in ours and got an electric insert. propane makes me nervous and this electric one is perfect. It’s a little cheesy but it glows and puts out heat. I love that I can get up in the cold mornings, switch it on and feel cozy. As for keeping track of charts...I have them in binders according to designer and have learned to check before I order anything, especially if it’s an older pattern. Luckily I have some stitchy friends that I can pass along any duplicates that I inadvertently acquire.

      We wouldn't really need our fireplace in terms of heat...it doesn't get too cold down here in Mississippi. BUT, the atmosphere would be nice. I agree with you on HumbleBumble - her stuff is SOOO pretty! And she's really, really sweet. Have a great week! - T

    Hi. Thanks for giving me the courage to "give up" on a couple projects that I know I will likely NEVER complete! I keep track of my projects on an elaborate Excel worksheet - inclusive of a listing of floss names, numbers, designer name, source of the pattern, so on. This spreadsheet keeps me organized without taking the "fun" of cross stitching.

    Hi Theresa!! I'm glad that you had a great time at the Minnesota retreat! You deserve lots of fun and now, a nice long break. I got myself a good pair of scissors which was inspired from your last video, I think it was. You were talking about the importance of high quality stitching tools and so I got myself a pair of Gingher scissors that are curved. I'll show them in my next video. I LOVE THEM!! I would never have thought to buy them if it wasn't for your gentle nudging to splurge a bit on tools, so thank you for that and for being you!!!

    I am also very much a homebody, so can totally relate to that pure sensation of relief you feel when you return home from a trip. I am a big fan of Shepherds Bush, and am so glad that you gave those beautiful kits/patterns a good home! I would love to stitch the birds. I, like you, have no organization for my stash, and recently found I had duplicated a pattern, AND kitted the same pattern twice. Oops! Time to get organized, but that takes time away from stitching! Look forward to your ‘hang with me’ video. Feel like I’m stitching in the company of a good friend xx

    Awesome score on the Shepherd's Bush kits!!! For the first 30+ years of my stitchy life, I didn't have a LNS, so all I had available to me were Stoney Creek and Leisure Arts patterns at Walmart and Hobby Lobby, so I didn't have a very big collection of patterns. So, I never did keep up with my patterns or what I had previously stitched. I literally gave everything I stitched away, cuz I just stitched for the enjoyment. I quit work 5 years ago after a previous back surgery and got more involved in social media, and OMG, how did I never know Prairie Schooler even existed, or BBD, or any of the others for that matter. It was and still is very frustrating, cuz now that I know about these designers, I can only afford a few here and there. I feel like sometimes that I've lived under a rock for most of my life, lol. And now that I'm up in age, I know that there is no way in the world, that even if I could get my hands on all that I want, I surely won't live long enough to stitch it all, so that helps keep the buying urges away, lol. But yes, I do keep up with what I buy now and also started keeping up with what I'm stitching. Just in a regular ole notebook. Glad you had a great time at the retreat, take care, Ruth.

    I am all about the birds!!! I will hang it in my bird room where all my birdwatching/stitching takes place ;) I love to organize when I am procrastinating so I spent a few hours ONCE separating my charts from kits and then alphabetizing them into two long lists I created in Apple's Pages. I store them very differently - by about 12 different categories that all my stuff seems to fall into (Christmas/Winter/Fall/Halloween/Animals/Samplers/Prairie Schooler/Shepherds Bush etc). Easy peasy to just open the document add the charts when they enter the house and then have fun sticking them in the category I would go looking through to find them someday. Elfa rolling cart with the top drawer for charts, bottom drawer for kits. ALL flosses/beads/specialty fibers/charms are stored in floss bags on rings with a label naming the chart are stored in another spot.It makes going shopping in my own stash an absolute treat and when I am enabled - I just open that document to make sure I don't already have it!
