- Installing a transition from lvp to carpet using the tuck and roll method. No Tack Strip Needed.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you for all the supporters and subscribers of this channel!
Cut the carpet and the padding against the u-channel. The transitioning will clamp the carpet. Maybe cut the padding a little more if it gets to high for the strip. That way it will truly be a "NO TACK STRIP"
Needs a tack strip or turn and tack. Have to secur3 the rug
You are a life saver. Exactly what I needed to know.
You got brotha. Thanks for the comment Spencer
Great video
That's a nice bubble in the carpet because you didn't stretch it
Could have just used a single knap door bar ,much neater finish
Could have. If I knew what that was. Lol send me your video so I can see what you mean..... I wait. Thanks for the comment
No tac strip nice job
Will the carpet side of the transition be spongy when you step on it? My LVP to carpet transition is spongy over the carpet because there is no hard surface underneath for the transition (obviously it is carpet). The people I hired said there is nothing they can do but I don’t believe that’s true, please help
Yeah sure as you can see I installed the transition straight on the floor for that exact reason. Any experienced floor installer know lvp transitions will flex with the carpet. You can sometimes get away with it in laminate if it's a good quality transition. Sounds like there is still enough carpet to tuck and roll it like I did in the video. Also if it is on concrete they will need to use tacknsteip and a z bar to tuck it correctly. Hope that helps. Thanks for the question
Can you use Brad nails?
Handyman special 😅
Bro…… no zbar? You know you use zbar when meeting carpet with lvt. I’m not a fan of the stuff myself but if you want a better hold that’s the way to go.
Yeah, I only use it on concrete. These small carpet staples are quick and and offer max hold. Thanks for the comment
But what if the carpet is on concrete?
You will have to use tack strip and z bar roll and tuck it! Thanks for the question!
Zbar, your suppose to use it when marrying carpet with lvt anyways bc the lvt is a floating floor. Glue your Zbar then you tack strip on top of the Zbar then roll under lip of Zbar and hammer down lightly take a stair tool and and run it over tack after you’ve stuck it.
Yep. Sounds right to me. Thanks for the tip
The guys we used couldn't figure out the z-bar thing so they re-did it gluing down reducers. When they tried to use the Z-bar thing they made cuts in the carpet too, I think to help them tuck it? but now we just have cuts in the carpet perpendicular to the transition / edge of the doorway. I think we will have to live with it as they already did the whole flooring twice, and the transitions are now in the 3rd and 4th attempt...
Wow! Sorry to hear this.
Even better, tear it all out and install hardwood
That’s not correct
Hack
🤣🤣🤣You trolls used to bother me. Now I know it's just part of your job😁
Been in it 45 years.
All of this work is unnecessary if you just get rid of the gross, filth-retaining carpets in your house.
Yep. Until then, this is for those keeping thier carpet. Thanks for your input
