National EAS Test EAN Demonstration

- As the Nov. 9, 2011, national EAS test approaches, stations are curious to know how their EAS encoder/decoders will react. This video shows a closed-circuit test of an EAN being received and relayed. Note: The actual test will last about 1 minute. When this video was created the test message audio was supposed to last 2.5 minutes. It has since been reduced to a 30-second test audio message.
And you can buy these devices for the low low price of 1 million dollars! That's right ladies and gentlemen, 1 million dollars!
Jesus that much? I've been looking into how to access EAS/CAP feeds using conventional radio equipment for digital signage and its like trying to squeeze blood out of a rock.
+GhostFreeman the EAS systems I saw being sold were used for TV stations, and radio stations. Other types are a couple thousand dollars.
Sage Endecs don't cost 1 million dollars they cost around $2000, also these devices are very dangerous because if you have one and you don't know how to use it and you click the wrong button and cause an EAN (Emergency Action Notification) across the US the FCC can fine you up to $100,000 or 5 years in jail for causing a false alarm and major panic across the US. These devices are at EVERY radio station and its required by law! Also a 2nd test will be done tomorrow (September 28,2016) at 2:20 PM EDT across the US so yeah...
シMCD456シ Go on EBay. They start at $100
So what are these basically in simple terms
Basically, for the EAN system it usually transmits the emergency on all programming and cable systems etc. regardless of what’s being aired.
now how the hell did you manage to get 1080p crisp as hell video and audio in a video uploaded years before UA-cam even really supported it
the future
It is so easy to hack EAS and activate an alert chain. EAS receivers are usually tuned to the audio of a TV or radio station. Using a ham radio you can park close to a station and overpower the station they receive their alerts from and send the alert headers. If they have their receiver set to auto broadcast it will automatically relay the alert on air. Any stations that receive alerts from that station will get the alert and may end up broadcasting it either automatically or if the master control operator confirms it.
y do u know this
@@megagay250 Just exposing the flaws in the system.
It's possible to hack EAS online too. accessing HTTP control interfaces and sending fake alerts. hackers played music with this across entire states

Use scissors to cut EAS tapes?
Everything is recorded onto magnetic tape for storing later, thats why you hear a *clunk* sound when it starts to broadcast.
+TheGamerWithMore It is not magnetic tape, its a roll of paper... Like the one the stores use to print your tickets.
mileznightmare Oh thanks. So it prints it on heat transfer paper? like what heat transfer printers do?
TheGamerWithMore
Im not sure its heat transfer paper xD, maybe its something like a dot matrix printer... i dont know, but it isnt magnetic tape...
As far as I know, it prints on paper like your receipts from the grocery store or any store for that matter.
what is the name of that song
SOS - Rihanna, quite fitting for the video I might say
What they would do is use this system called the Primary Point Entry system which is how regular programming can be suspended and it can transmit messages that the programming.
The EAS voiceover sounds like Patrick Bateman lol
Abby Garrett Hello Fellow Fake UA-cam member.... It does lol xD
@SPCMosesLake4662 You're 90% right. The FCC and NWS do have a large say in the EAS, but so does FEMA, and the Department of Homeland Security; they all pitched in to create the system.
Jordan Bahr the EAN was created in 1963 long before the department of homeland security was established
that was the EBS, not the EAS, the EAS superseded the EBS in '97
Ryan Pitner You’re right, the EAN code was established alongside the EBS in 1963 before Homeland Security came around. My point was that many government agencies have a hand in what is transmitted and when.
Dunno why they had to use the EAN code when NPT was an existing event code.
This was back in 2011. That code didn't exist at the time.
Buck Biggsly it did, just was unused
Don't know, maybe they tried to be as close to a real emergency, by using the EAN code as what would be used
I've seen some videos that the EAS ENDEC would print a receipt detailing the EMERGENCY ALERT message.
TFT EAS 911 Also Print EAS details
You can disable it in the settings of the SAGE.
You can even hear the printer in the video, starting around 2:58 however more audible at 3:06 when the tones kick in.
I think that if they need to, they would hack into a car radio, TV, or gaming console to broadcast a message.
For TV and radio there's no hacks needed. That's the EAS, broadcasting on TV and radio. As for gaming consoles, no, that wouldn't happen.
what the fuck, why would you need to get into a car radio, you're already listening to the fucking radio
and the eas is on tv as well what the fuck are you saying
😑 Old, old statement. More clickbait. Also, this is stolen content from the X22 Report. |
