Very nice video , nice live edge walnut slab . I purchased a 3 inch x 5 foot long walnut slab , that was from the base of the tree . One end is 2 1/2 feet wide , with the other end at 3 3/4 feet wide , for an island counter top . I didn’t have commercial tools , just orbital sander and a regular circular saw . I bevel cut the ends at a 45 degree angle at 1 1/2 inches . I spent about 15 hours hand sanding it plus 7 coats of varnish with hand sanding between each coat , looks great . When the tree was cut down , a civil war canon ball was found embedded in it

Shouldn't be terribly hard. I'd think you'd have to trim the live edge so it's perpendicular to the slab face first. To make the frame, I'd think laminating the sides and top, then laying atop the slab, trace the outline, then jigsaw (or router) to fit. It's a door, so it doesn't have to fit perfectly. I would think the biggest issue would be that that slab would move more than a glacier, being so open to the elements. I suppose you could resin impregnate it somehow...... It would certainly be the oolest door I've ever seen.
@@OldNew45 I wonder if you could slice the slab in the middle and laminate a sheet of plywood between the two halves. Best look would be routering out the the center so that the 2 halves join back together. It would be quit the trick project.

Norm Abrams called these bowties 'dutchmen'. And since then they have been one of my favourite repairs. Good job. Regards

200 years to grow a tree like this. This means it is economically viable, so nobody seeds such tree. Tell me: was this legal extraction??

Beautiful, I really like the x ties to prevent further splitting. Fantastic tee shirt. 😊Thankyou for sharing 👍
Inspiring and beautiful work. I love how the contrasting X inlay's have become a part of the Table.
I don’t like it at all. It detracts from the beauty of the natural wood grain.
