that's an unfair assessment. He was just too young and inexperienced. This was probably his first real relationship since HS. He doesn't understand enough about himself let alone how to be a husband. I made the same mistakes at that age with my sweetheart, minus the marriage part. She did the same thing, kept it pushing and got her degree, while I continued on in the Army. As she should've. In hindsight, she was smart for dumping me. I was not ready for primetime, and she was motivated to keep going with her growth. Thank goodness this girl didn't compromise her education. She will be better for it. Maybe sometime down the road they can reconnect after they mature and experience a bit more life. Or, maybe not, and that is ok too.

You get a housing allowance, basically money for rent based on your rank and the location of your duty station. If you live off base, whatever is left over from paying your rent/bills from that allowance, you keep in your pocket essentially. Also you get to move out of the barracks once you're married.

Here were are 15 1/2 years into the marriage and I see how valuable it would have been for me to enjoy those years as as single college graduate bound women.
