    Train brake was called "dual brake handle" as it was vacuum and air.
    When I was doing my driver training I spent the day in front of the class describing how it worked.
    Loco brake was called the "straight air brake"
    Power handle was called the "regulator" carried over from the steam days.
    As for not knowing where to put the regulator it came with practice and road knowledge although every train and loco handles differently even if the train is made up of the same class and coaching stock.
    Am definetly going to buy this game looks very life like.

      @@PTGRail 😢 I will literally take the Southern service from Hastings to Bexhill which literally has no point, why not drive to your house (wherever that is) and play train sim on your PC until I fall asleep on the keyboard. I nearly did that at Blackfriars, so I had to stop at St Pancras. Plus I'd love to try out the DLC you have. Such as the Class 90 and London-Ipswich Line. If you had the 455/8 that would be helpful 😂. It's funny but stupid my dad has a season ticket from Hastings to London any way, so in a few years I've got a free trip 😂, I can literally go from Hastings to Ashford, St Pancras, ANY London Transport, Brighton, I dont think Portsmouth. Waterloo East, then Waterloo? Ahhh I'd love it. Just the fact that it would be completely free for me except food and if i stay overnight!

    Hello PTG! I’ve seen in the past that you said you have train simulator (rail works) at max settings, but honestly while watching your train sim videos it seems like there is something else involved like some sort of mod or filter when editing the video. Especially at the beginning of the APT video you made, the train itself and the interior look insanely good! I just wanted to know if this is in fact 100% vanilla graphics with no editing or mods. Thank you!

    That was really good - watched it to the end. It takes some doing, driving without the hud... (By the way, Deighton is pronounced as "Deeton," and Slaithwaite as "Slathwaite" - with the "a" pronounced as in "cat" or "hat"... but locals actually pronounce it with most of the middle part cut out: "Slawit," again, with the a as in "cat." )

    PTG, please can you post some more videos we really miss you. Also I'm really happy because for £28 I got: Portsmouth Direct Line Waterloo one (I have both,and so I can re-skin it to Southern since I'm aiming at Clapham Junction currently), Isle Of Wight (to get London Underground freeware), North Somerset (To finish off 1066 Line), Class 319 (for scenarios around Clapham), and Class 442 (London-Brighton). I got all these routes for under £30 with this deal, trust me if you want anything in steam then DO NOT MISS IT! If you spend over £30 you'll get a £5 discount, and up to 75% off. I have all routes in London except from Ipswich, Peterborough, and Oxford, although I did consider that one, but I have all the trains for it anyway and wasnt bothered about the route. Also have you ever thought of making timelapses? Because when I want a route I find it easy to watch a timelapse rather than 1 hour each route. And you'd be great at it, since you 99% of the time stay in the cab except from a view at a platform. I think, and hope doing that will up your game in the world of UA-cam. I dojt understand why no one pays much attention to you. Maybe because they get bored within 10 minutes and they want a quick 10 minute overview of the map, and again I think youd be great showcasing routes, you'd have the perfect description for everything.😁 Good luck in the future and never give up.

    Nice. Just noticed something. As you pulled into Stalybridge Station (My home station), you said you were cleared for platform 3, as that what was indicated on the signal (55.30). Yet, you went into Platform 2 ( as indicated by the Platform Marker Boards (56.24)), Platform 3 at the time was over to the left, where the last Blue Marker was (a dead end platform with buffers) facing towards Manchester, with the 2 freight lines, 1 of which is now Platform 1 and the other demolished further left. I say at the time as Stalybridge has now been remodelled and 2 extra platforms and the platforms renumbered, so where you stopped is now (after 2012) Platform 3, but in the timescale of the simulation it was platform 2.
    mancunian1001.wordpress.com/2012/09/16/update-on-stalybridge-railway-station-remodelling-works/
    The old and new layouts are in this document. Not being picky and it is fantastic work by the developer, it was just an observation.

      Would you mean a 1C-C1 wheel arrangement perchance? :-) The letters refer to the number of driven axles, so a C0-C0 had 3 driven axles per bogey with no lead / trailing 'dead' axles. In the case of the Class 45 (and 40), they had a dead "pony" axle in front of 3 driving axles. Likewise a class 31 was an A1A-A1A because it had one live axle, 1 dead, then one live on each bogey. My apologies if I'm confirming what you already knew, but I thought it might be good to clarify this subject for others who may not know this.

      Wesleythebear-Js HE is still around and still reads many of the comments received on this channel. This year I’ve had to move, start a full time job, and try and have a life around that. I’ve not given up on this channel, but have had to take a hiatus, as I’ve advised all of my followers in Facebook. Training for and settling in to this job has been a priority. I don’t even have my computer in my new home yet! So thanks, but there’s no need to be rude and call me some kind of “bad person”. You won’t find another TS based UA-camr who has put more time and effort into their videos than me.

      PTGRail Don’t let these entitled people get to you. Take whatever time you need to get settled in with your new place and job. Those things can be very stressful and require a lot of focus. Self care is extremely important, not only for producing amazing content but for your own well-being. When I came across your channel, I was blown away with the amount of detail and love you put into your videos. It was so nice to see such passion go into the content. Hope everything is going well and I can’t wait to see your return, but please take care of yourself first. Seriously, no rush! 😊

      @@PTGRail OK Whatever. But I'm sure you had a phone. And you could of put even a small update on your channel saying your taking a hiatus and you'll try to be back soon or something. It's common sense. You don't just leave your channel hanging high and dry without giving anyone any explanation. You weren't in an emergency. You weren't in a hospital. You didn't break your fingers. So a little explanation could of been Done. So many people including me were confused as hell and had no idea where you went or what happened. Of course I did think you were being a bad person at that time and was taking the the piss for the reasons I just said. Had I known from your then current status from say, a simple update. I wouldn't of thought those things.

    how did you learn the route? Just by going over it and taking notes? Did you use the hud info at first? This is the way to do train sim - with no HUD/gamey stuff. Very nice!

      I guess you could pretend that having the hud on for the first run or so would be like taking your supervisor along with you as they familiarize you with the route. Then when you turn the hud off it’s like them turning you loose!

    Hey PTG, I know I am almost literally spamming you, but I am now starting to make Routes. Any idea how you merge 2 routes? Or like copy and paste? My plans are:
    ➡️ Hastings - Charing Cross (1066 Line Extension);
    ➡️ Southampton-Brighton plus Portsmouth Harbour, Littlehampton, and Bognor Regis;
    ➡️ Eurostar St Pancras - Paris Garu De Nord (Kent High Speed Ex);
    ➡️ Brighton - Ashford (I've already laid out track for Hastings to Ashford;
    ➡️ Milton Keynes Ex London-Brighton ( I need Trent Valley and really need Class 455/8);
    ➡️ Kings Lynn Ex London-Peterborough;
    ➡️ Ramsgate Loop, Chatham and Faversham
    ➡️ Euston to Watford Junction (another Trent Valley onto the Northern Line)
    ➡️ Temple Mills Depot, Kent High Speed
    ➡️ If I ever make trains, it will be the Class 700, Class 374, and Class 376.
    NOT THE RESKINS!!!!!! AND FULLY INTERACTIVE UNLIKE SUPERALBS CURRENTLY!!!!!

    Great video .... I have enjoyed playing your video while simultaneously driving the route on Xbox to learn the route.
    Wonder if you could please help .. couple of evenings I have been driving the DMU, in the service mode Marsden to Leeds.
    I am especially struggling with departing Dewsbury and Batley.
    Both lead into a step uphill gradient, and I only can get up to about 20mph in 1st gear when departing from these stations.
    If I try any of the other gears then I just a lose momentum and eventually get stuck half way up the hill!
    I have tried stopping just onto the platform at Dewsbury, and then use the longer platform (on straight level) to get a bit of run towards the hill, but this doesn't work at Batley due the shorter platform.
    I presume this is due to the DMU not being powerful enough to get up the steep hills, but if anyone has a driving tips to get up steep gradients I would be grateful?
    (PS ive tried the switching RPM to engine 2 button but this doesn't seem to help - but would be interested to know what this functionality should be used for?)

    Leeds is still a busy station as of 2018 particularly the main route to London Kings Cross via Doncaster. Manchester Victoria is probably the Marylebone of Manchester's two main stations. Piccadilly is the city's busiest and provide regular trains to London Euston. Also to other destinations too like Birmingham, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Almost forgot about the tramlink. There was an episode of Sooty & Co. during the 1990s I think featuring the late Matthew Corbett.

    At every station (dewsbury + Huddersfield x2 + st bridge have them on the platforms ) are all award winning Real Ale and cider pubs. Round here this route is known as the real ale trail. Marsden Moore is one of the best. (Go to the pub at the bottom of the hill - other side of the river is best.

    Standedge Tunnel has a canal tunnel and an other dissused train tunnel. In the late 70's my friends and I walked the dissused train tunnel and found animal bones and devil worship images on the walls which freaked us out. Later in the 80's I travelled this train route between Leeds and Manchester on a regular basis. I loved the 101 which stopped at every station.

    I wish someone would make Leeds to Manchester Victoria via Rochdale set in 2019. That's my local route. Is the Huddersfield line meant to be electrified?

    • @am-vm8ew
      @am-vm8ew 5 років тому +1

      The line to Huddersfield from Victoria and Piccadilly has still not been electrified and never has been, not even in Woodhead days. On the route from Piccadilly overhead wires only reach Guide Bridge. There doesn't seem to have been any plans to electrify Victoria and the remainder of the Piccadilly to Leeds route.
