      well we know that Magnum would have won the belt back at Starrcade 86. That qas already the plan. Magnum-Flair would have been the marquee feud for JCP throughout 87. Garvin never wins the World title, Luger and Windham end up feuding, and Sting doesn't get the monster push he received in 1988-90. Steamboat and Funk never get World title programs. Magnums injury changed literally everything.

    These guys spend so much time driving. Shows could be 100's of miles apart, from night to night.
    Not too long after Magnum's accident, I used to ride along with Chris Champion and Sean Royal, when they worked with NWA as "The New Breed". I was taking pictures for a couple of wrestling magazines.
    "The New Breed" had a long running feud, at the time with "The Midnight Express", and were set to get the straps. Lucky for me, I was not in the car the night of their accident. They totaled their car on a wet highway. Chris Champion went thru the windshield, breaking his arm, among other injuries. Both guys were hurt pretty bad. Out of business for quite a while, at the worst time, career wise.
    Sean came back for a very short time after, but then called it quits, got out of the business. Chris came back, wrestled with his arm in a plaster cast for a while. He stayed in the business for many more years, but was never at the level he had been at with "The New Breed".

    I love these Black Bart video's as well.
    I think he has these dates and years messed up when he said that brought Dusty back into it from Vince.
    It was Dusty and Magnum with The Road Warriors against the 4 Horseman.
    Dusty did not go to Vince till almost 3 1/2 yrs later.
    Who benefited was Nikita Koloff because he had just gotten the US belt from Magnum in the best of seven at the Great American Bash.
    When Dusty came out with a mystery partner it was Nikita and it drew.
    They also brought in Barry Windham before Sting and Luger.
    Great hearing these though plus I do think Magnum was in for a big NWA title run.

      You're so wrong, it's painful.
      1. Dusty was going bankrupt after losing $150k in the PWF, Vince's generosity allowed him to get back on his feet financially. Vince didn't have to give Dusty a big contract, yet he still did;
      2. Vince made him a people's champion, and always treated him as a big star. Look at his entire WWF run, Dusty was never jobbed out or treated as less than a star;
      3. Vince gave him some of the greatest heels to work with (Savage, Dibiase, Honky, Boss man, Martel, etc), and some big matches on PPV;
      4. Dusty won his Wrestlemania match against an icon like Macho man;
      5. Dusty was given one of the most memorable entrance theme ever;
      6. Dusty made plenty of extra money thanks to merchandise, something he never did when he was with Jim Crockett Promotions;
      7. Vince allowed Dustin to work a few matches with his father, something Dustin was never allowed to do when Dusty was working for Turner in 1989;
      See? See all the good stuff Vince did for Dusty? So stop spreading that nonsense out of hatred for McMahon, Dusty's WWF run was awesome and allowed him to keep his house and feed his family.

    Magnum TA would have been as big as, or even bigger than Hulk Hogan, I seen a lot of his early work on UA-cam and it was clear to me that he was bigger than Ric Flair. Sting was good, same with Nakita, but they were not in Magnums league. Old Bart was right, the NWA started going down hill from there on out after the accident, the NWA had a star who I believe would have been bigger than Hogan and on a rainy night it was all gone.

      Magnum had the "it" factor and I would say he could work a crowd like Hogan, the Rock and Austin. However, as much as Magnum not being injured would have changed the whole landscape and history of professional wrestling-I think it is impossible to be a bigger star than Hogan was at the time.

      No one knows when Magnum would have won that World title, Magnum himself has no idea when he was going to win it. When you look at the shows leading to Starrcade 86, seems like Magnum was going to feud with Jimmy Garvin or someone other than Ric, so honestly it's not even sure he was going to indeed face Ric at Starrcade.
