That’s the nicest car you have. You should finish it and get it inspected. Put the stock seats back in and the stock steering wheel. Paint the entire car and you are good to go.
Dj the Cima I'd slam , run some BBS mesh style or CH-R wheels that would look gangster , intake for Turbo noises , exhaust , Tint , Vip trays front and back for that Bippu aka Vip Style 👍 and the M3 yes I would go all out and turn it into your first Drift Car Instead of dealing with all the trouble of trying to register and make it road legal 👍
I don't know how it works in the US but where I live we have a law about the deposit. We make a sale agreement and agree on the amount for the deposit and how long the deposit expires (usually a week, for larger sums maybe a month)... Regardless, the buyer leaves a deposit and if the buyer backs out of the deal the seller gets to keep the deposit for his troubles but in the other hand if the seller backs out he has to give back double the amount of the deposit to the buyer for screwing him over... We have a law for exactly this kind of scenarios and I would never leave with just the deposit...
Unfortunately there isn’t much that can be done about a private sale. It’d be different had both parties signed a buyers agreement or bill of sale but they didn’t. But a lot of people don’t sign sales agreements because it goes both ways. Just like a seller can change their mind a buyer can leave deposit and then disappear. I always have a seller or buyer sign agreed upon term’s in writing to protect both parties.

I as a seller wouldn't accept less than 10% deposit and for that kind of money there must be something put on paper and signed by both parties and even a witness. I was going to say swap the M3 drivetrain into the red S14, so you can have all S-chassis 6 cylinder, but M3 drift build sounds alright as well.
