- Tenzin Norgay aka Tenzin Sherpa’s candid interview in Tibetan language; recovered and preserved. Among the most famous mountain climbers in history, Tenzin Norgay (late May 1914 - 9 May 1986), born Namgyal Wangdi and often referred to as Sherpa Tenzing was one of the first two individuals known to have reached the summit of Mount Everest, which he accomplished with Edmund Hillary on 29 May 1953. He was named by Time as one of the 100 most influential people of the 20th century.

These rare audios and videos that have historical importance to the Tibetan people were collected and digitally preserved as part of the Conserve Tibet Project in 2013 - 2015 with the help of Thupten Chakrishar, Jamyang Dorjee, Rinchen Dharlo, Tsulrim Chophel, Shelley & Donald Rubin and Alexander Gardner, Ph. D.
This proves so well he's Tibetan. Such clarity in Tibetan vocabulary. Circumstances made him Nepali.

Tenzin Norgay is a Tibetan. As he said in the beginning of the video. His parent moved to Solokhumbu and he was born in Nepal.
He is pure Tibetan. He was born in the roof of the world tibet .

than why they use name of sherpa
because sherpa and tibetan is not same language and culture also different

For those who gets confused with Tibetan and sherpa let me clear......before unification of nepal, sherpa doesnt use sherpa as a surname they had names like Tibetans to be precise it nevere existed thats why most sherpas have name with first name middle name and last surname.. After unification the king wanted to bring sherpas under the Nepali cast system and so the sherpas adopted sherpa as a cast as most of the other community known sherpas as sherpa or sarwa. Which literally means Eastern People which concludes that the sherpas have tibetan origin and it was around 1400 BC that they came to present day Nepal for settlement....and as per why tenzing norgar used sherpa as his tital was because because hei parents came to Nepal from tibet like any othe sherpas came from ...so in general according to Nepali cast system whoever came to Nepal from tibet were considered as sherpas at that time....and in sherpa community their are waves of migration from Tibet and so the sherpa language itself have different accent or say dialect....so conclusively Tenzing norgay came to nepal with one of the wave of migration...

In this world people are always mentioning their birth place and and why didn't ?
Tibetans are not upto tibet like Nepalis are not upto nepal.....we all are scattered in different places due to demarcation of borders......and the consequences of demarcation is faced by community residing in borders by identity crisis....like we sherpas sometimes face it like if people asked us where you from we have to think before answering cuz sherpas are not only in Nepal...they are in tibet bhutan arunachal and india darjeeling...so basically we all are tibetan with different nationalities...
