I agree to an extent that Ren creates projects at times and the video and song are constituent parts of the whole. I don't think he intended for this to be a traditional diss as such and more of a exercise in portraying his emotional reaction to the situation.

That's not true bro. We have NO expectation at all. We're not "stans" of any artist we typically react to, so we take EVERYTHING at face value. We don't research back stories and discography or anything. Our viewers vote and we hit play and ya get our honest thoughts on whatever the song is. That's it for us. We've said this numerous times, we purposely don't react to the artist we actually listen to because we're going to be bias. In defence of Ren’s music, he found a niche market for his music which a lot of people finds refreshing and exciting. His music is intelligent, creative, unique, different and theatrical. He blends his rap-singing music with reggae, jazz, rock, folk, classic and symphony. Hence he got the “bardcore title”… Most of his music is narrative in rap/singing style and theatrical. He produce most of his beats and he can play several instruments. He gained a lot of loyal fans and followers because his music style is very different from the norm. If Ren just do the typical rap like any thousands of rapper on youtube I don’t think many people will notice him. From someone who started busking on the streets (street performer) and battling auto immune illness- to one of the most successful independent artist on youtube with a number 1 UK Album he’s doing well. I know Ren’s music is not for everyone’s taste especially for people who likes “stereotypical rap” but at least yall giving him a chance and reacting to his songs even if his music is not for you.
Great comment but we've listen to about 20 ren songs and we like some and we don't like others. We know what he is as an artist doesn't mean we're going to like everything. I love chicken but i don't like kfc. I prefer popeyes... like i respect kfc because its people that enjoy their chicken but its probably the last chicken place I'm a go to. I do like their hot wings though. Kfc hot wings was fire. Point is, possible to enjoy some things from a place and prefer those same things they have from others. And oh boy… you KNOW you f’ed up when people who never comment start commenting and dissect you with a scalpel … when the comments go in on you and cut you to the bone, and often times so eloquently and masterfully put… it is brutal (unfortunately…. I am a fan of Ren, and I find it wrong that Ren fans jump in the comments out of anger that the channel hosts don’t see Ren in the same way they do. Ren’s music is not for everyone; no artist is loved by everyone. But more importantly, criticism is usually welcome to those whom are serious about improving their craft. And if an artist is happy with their music and craft, they won’t allow criticism to deter them because their goal isn’t to please the critics. These channel operators have their their own fans, opinions, personas, goals, and lives that exist outside of Ren’s music, and I honestly respect the fact that they aren’t pretending to like something to gain views. No one is forcing anyone to watch this channel. And, if you truly believe in someone and feel confident your beliefs are well placed, you should be able to listen to differing views without feeling that those views will somehow lessen the value you place in the person you believe in.

I am a huge Ren-Fan and totally respect that opinion. When you say you dont want to know the backstory to get the song then Ren is probably not the right artist to listen to. What I love about him is the exact opposite - I love that he is an open book and that his music, his videos and his story is a complete work of art. But dont stop trying. It's refreshing hearing an honest reaction after watching a lot of faked emotion elsewhere. That gets really tedious after a while. But how honest was it? Not everyone is going to like all kinds of music, and that's fair, but criticising a fork for not being a shovel isn't really very enlightening. I watched Dash's set face throughout, and that told me he was resisting this from a fixed perspective rather than responding to it in its own terms. That was confirmed by the commentary afterwards which just came down to you both saying what kind of music you like and don't like. That'd be fine if you were just talking to each other, but it doesn't make much of a reaction video. It doesn't make any interesting observations or provide any insight into the music or the artist. It just tells me about you. And as reactors, you haven't yet grabbed my interest sufficiently to make me care. I'll probably watch some of your other reactions just to see what you have to say elsewhere. But I'm giving this one a rather generous 'C', guys. Could do better.

But I do know that a core of Ren fans had their lives literally saved by his music… and that will often times make you ride or die… so I have learned to just scan over those type of comments as Yes, sure … you are allowed to fight for someone who saved your life…. Just let those comments roll off your back, and focus on the more reasonable and positive comments (reactors so often only focus on the 5-10% negative comments and completely ignore the 90% positive ones…)

And oh boy… you KNOW you f’ed up when people who never comment start commenting and dissect you with a scalpel … when the comments go in on you and cut you to the bone, and often times so eloquently and masterfully put… it is brutal (unfortunately…. Or fortunately these reactors were let just say not the sharpest tools in the shed.. and I think much of the dismantling went way over their heads…) but it is when this happens that you should reconsider reacting to Ren… until such time most people like different opinions about Ren, esp. if you give honest and intelligent reasons why… or just be truthful and say it is not something you personally like (you will still get the blundering comments, but most others will respect you for it) 😘

I am a fan of Ren, and I find it wrong that Ren fans jump in the comments out of anger that the channel hosts don’t see Ren in the same way they do. Ren’s music is not for everyone; no artist is loved by everyone. But more importantly, criticism is usually welcome to those whom are serious about improving their craft. And if an artist is happy with their music and craft, they won’t allow criticism to deter them because their goal isn’t to please the critics. These channel operators have their their own fans, opinions, personas, goals, and lives that exist outside of Ren’s music, and I honestly respect the fact that they aren’t pretending to like something to gain views. No one is forcing anyone to watch this channel. And, if you truly believe in someone and feel confident your beliefs are well placed, you should be able to listen to differing views without feeling that those views will somehow lessen the value you place in the person you believe in.

I am a huge Ren-Fan and totally respect that opinion. When you say you dont want to know the backstory to get the song then Ren is probably not the right artist to listen to. What I love about him is the exact opposite - I love that he is an open book and that his music, his videos and his story is a complete work of art. But dont stop trying. Maybe try a busking song to see his range and skills in total. Sorry if there are mistakes in the grammar, I am from Germany and not a native speaker ;)
It's refreshing hearing an honest reaction after watching a lot of faked emotion elsewhere. That gets really tedious after a while. But how honest was it? Not everyone is going to like all kinds of music, and that's fair, but criticising a fork for not being a shovel isn't really very enlightening. I watched Dash's set face throughout, and that told me he was resisting this from a fixed perspective rather than responding to it in its own terms. That was confirmed by the commentary afterwards which just came down to you both saying what kind of music you like and don't like. That'd be fine if you were just talking to each other, but it doesn't make much of a reaction video. It doesn't make any interesting observations or provide any insight into the music or the artist. It just tells me about you. And as reactors, you haven't yet grabbed my interest sufficiently to make me care. I'll probably watch some of your other reactions just to see what you have to say elsewhere. But I'm giving this one a rather generous 'C', guys. Could do better.
