  • Voter suppression in the United States continues to limit the access of marginalized communities to the democratic process, and has increased since the 2013 U.S. Supreme Court decision rescinding a key element of the 1965 Voting Rights Act requiring advanced federal approval for election law changes. The COVID-19 pandemic adds another potentially limiting factor when in-person voting could be a life-threatening act. Within this environment, how can voter access be protected and broadened? Join the LSU Reilly Center as we explore historical implications for the potential impact of COVID-19 on upcoming elections, including the 2020 presidential election.
