Absolutely heartbreaking. I've heard this song a million times before, but the fact that Daniel drowned in a lake...it hits so close to home in this performance. Beautifully executed by Regina, I can't imagine how hard this must have been.
@@oldbooksatmidnight8118 Not singing directly into the microphone is probably because she's raising her vocals and doesn't want to blow everyone's ears off through the microphone. But it is pretty amazing that she can make her voice loud enough to cover without the microphone...
So significant moment for her, I can feel her suffer, I even can feel the pain of this song before the accident; It's a terrifiyng, creepy and magnificent song with a strong story behind. R.I.P Dan Cho.
It's not about him, I think their point was that this performance took place quite soon after his passing and the parallels to the lyrics are a little chilling, considering.
One of the best songs ever. I love regina spektors music

Can you please share this story? I wonder what the meaning of the song is
@@Anastasia-ze5xz Daniel Cho was Regina's cellist during that tour, he passed drowning in a lake on July 6th, about a week before this performance
such a goddamn haunting tune
i looked at the meaning and am more unnerved
at 2:32 she’s not even singing directly into the mic

Wow...I had no idea. Heartbreaking indeed. No wonder this song haunts me so.

No dislikes- exactly what I like to see.
it is a really sweet, sad story but didn't the album come out a year before? so how can this song be about him...?
It's not ab him of course but maybe this day she was singing for him
Btw i guess Daniel Cowman was dedicated to him
To a tortured genius, peace outweighs ambition infinitely to one.
I must sound so stupid asking this...but who is Daniel?
animalcrackers still wondering 🤔
Daniel Cho was Regina's cellist. He died on July 6th, 2010, about a week before this performance.
